  1. I have a couple of scents that I can't keep in...men buying them... One is that darn Sinus Relief...goon nite, I can't keep the stuff in! The other is the Ocean scent from Candle Science ...and one other is the Cinnamon....not buns...plain Cinnamon. By far the Sinus and Ocean are my biggest. Funny how it differs from each area. Based on the valued comments from Fern from Connecticut, I am starting to introduce some designer scents. I hope they like them...I am getting pretty tired of Sinus!
  2. Hi, and Welcome! I have never even heard of lids for tealights. If there is such a thing in the world, I am not aware of it. There are plastic packages you can buy to put them in, though. Wholesalesuppliesplus.com has them, probably Bitter Creek. Have you considered maybe using tarts? Easy to make with a mini-muffin pan. After they're set up, pop it into the freezer and they'll pop right out of the tins. I use them a lot and put the tarts into plastic baggies and when you open the baggie, you really get a good whif of the scent, or you could wrap with SaranWrap or something like that. I put mine in those cookie tins. Just an idea. I am sure others will know for sure where to find the plastic containers for tea lights, and the best pricing. Good Luck to you. Fern-Marie
  3. Hi, Trust me, as a sufferer for years, I recently "discovered" Shea...last week, in fact. WOW!! I look human again...no rash, no itching! I am even using it on my face...this is like sending an arachnophobic into a damp, dark cellar. TELL HER TO STAY AWAY FROM FRAGRANCES, IT IS ONE OF THE CHIEF TRIGGERS FOR ECZEMA. No creams or powders with fragrance, and that includes any fragranced SOAP...this one is the worst! She must use unscented soaps for bathing. Olive Oil or Goat's Milk seemed to help me best, though I think Glycerine is more readily available...just get it "Fragrance Free". My shea has essential oils in it...and I am not allergic...can you tell that I am amazed here! I am sure that Daniedb will help. She's pretty smart, knows her stuff. Go with it. Wish her luck for us.
  4. Silicone glue is your best choice, however, do be sure to get the smaller version in a more user-friendly tube. It is the exact same stuff used to do a clear caulking around windows, and showers, etc. It is awkward. I have a whole story on that one, yikes! :tiptoe: Once the wick is stuck, it is really stuck, not to worry about it coming loose, you'll be lucky if you can remove it at all. I let it set about an hour, though. I too am afraid that it will leak into the candle if not dried. Use sparingly, you'll get the hang of it. Best Wishes, Fern-Marie
  5. Thank you for that. It makes me feel better. I am glad that you meant no harm. No hard feelings. Fern-Marie
  6. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you also" Ever hear of that? It's called "The Golden Rule". While as a creator and seller of crafts and candles, I would respect your right as a consumer to voice your opinion to me if you did not like one of my products. However, this is not the proper venue for the consumer. If you have a problem with SoyGirl's product...please take it to her - and her alone. You have chosen to embarrass a fellow crafter before her peers and make a public spectacle of someone whose work many of us respect and admire. She created something that none of us had...including you! Your tone is disrespectful, and offensive.
  7. You're very welcome, and anyone who diminishes the job that the civis do just doesn't know what the heck they're talking about! They are in more danger than some soldiers, and they don't have machine guns to defend themselves. Far more vulnerable. He's got a lot more courage than I ever could even imagine...and so do you! Enjoy your precious moments and Happy Birthday to the little one!
  8. Hi Indescent, I did not know that you had a hubby in the Armed Services, let alone serving in Iraq. Could you please thank him for us for his service to our nation. Let him know that we pray for our troops and appreciate their sacrifice. It can't be easy for you either. We wish you all the best. I don't know how you have kept your spirits up, I would never have even guessed. Heroes come in all shapes, sizes, and genders. Best Wishes to you both for the New Year. Fern-Marie
  9. Ohhh, crap, do I feel dumb. Good thing Donna mentioned the web site. I just checked it out...spectacular by the way. One problem for me...I have been purchasing "Natural" cleaning items from drugstore.com . Very expensive. Waaaayyy more expensive than yours. Oh, boy, do I feel taken. Man. Doesn't that just tick ya off! Well, D, looks like you have a new customer. I am using Green Tea and Patchouli cleanser from Caldrea. I am not a patchouli fan at all, but this stuff smells fabulous. I just bought a huge bottle of the Nugmeg to try based on 'rave reviews'...gag a maggot...hate it! Well, just as soon as I run down some of these, I will be visiting your site to order more. Fern-Marie
  10. Breanna, I understand your pain. My mom has the same condition. Unfortunately, the strongest medication she can take is Tylenol. My dad told my wife that my mom cries herself to sleep many a nights from the pain. Hi Ron and Breanna, (quick off subject note) I have it too...14 years now. My hands hurt so bad right now, I may have to brace them...can't make candles in braces! I also have Chronic Fatigue with it...killer exhaustion. I just wonder why your mom hasn't been given some sort of relief from meds" I find that the Arthritis Tylenol is a wonder-drug. You can also take Advil with it. I'm sorry Bre. I'm sorry to hear whenever anyone is in pain, especially when they have no relief. Let me know if I can help, go private if you want. Fern-Marie
  11. Hi Maryann, I know from experience that trying to get bulk glassware at the local stores can be a real pain. I got some online here: http://www.instawares.com/Clear-Glass-Votive-Tealight-Holder-25.IWS0105CG.0.7.htm They have 6 dozen for $35.99, or about .50 a piece. A little more than Wal-Mart or AC Moore's but a heck of a lot less aggravation and hassle. Shipping for me is about $10.00 Good Luck Fern-Marie
  12. Hi, I was reading online about shea butter. I was very impressed with what I read. So, realizing that I had a tin of it, I decided to give it a try. I was scared to death to use it because I have eczema, and a whole host of skin allergies. I put some on my husband's back...wasn't I clever!...and he absolutely loved the feel of it...and I mean right away. He hates all of that kind of stuff, so, this too impressed me. Well, I got really brave and told him to put some on my back. To my amazement..no rashes, no breakouts..just moisturized my dry, itchy, wintered, eczema prone skin. I got really brave. I recently read an article which made me realize that those red swelly spots under my eyes was probably Rosacea. Who knew? I tried the Shea under my eyes...always very dry...it worked beautifully, best stuff I ever used. Then, last nite, I put it under my eyes and on the red, swollen Rosacea...guess what, when I woke up this morning it was gone! My husband asked me what I did to get rid of it. Now, I really, really want to get some unrefined shea and whip it. I would also be interested in knowing if I can add Emu Oil to it....??? What do I do, and how do I do it? Is there a difference between East African Shea, and West African Shea? Do I melt it? To what temp? Whip it warm or cool? What tool can I use to whip it..the big machine w/ the bowl, hand mixer, the skinny super whippy thingy?? How do I go about adding Emu Oil....how much??? I really haven't a clue here, I'm just winging it. I hate to overwhelm anyone with all the questions, but if I can make something that works for me..Wow! My life-long skin problem may be a thing of the past...at last. I would be so grateful if someone could guide me. I don't know the terminologies and additives that are mentioned on other threads, it is too much for me to try to comprehend all of it. I need help. Thanks so much. Fern-Marie
  13. I'm snooping...can someone clue me in on the whipped shea? You take a hunk of shea and whip it, how?...can you then use it straight? I just 'discovered' shea recently, like two days ago, and have been using it..I love it and I am not, so far, experiencing allergies. I would like to get some for myself, but have no idea what to do with it once I do. help. I would really like to mix it with Emu Oil....any ideas? Is that do-able? Thanks for the lesson! Fern-Marie
  14. Chris77 is right. I get sales on tarts for exactly this reason...there is a difference to ppl on whether they melt paraffin which is petroleum based, or soy which is a vegetable. It does matter to some ppl.
  15. You are probably right! Of all the things ppl requested this season...Lilac! What is with the lilac! I love it, but man does it give me a headache.
  16. babyrn...don't worry, Glade can't get one to throw more than a few days either. I'm sure that whatever you came up with works better!
  17. PETSA TO THE RESCUE...Hi Tops! I tried to spare you.
  18. www.fromnaturewithlove.com Did a search, hope I got that right...a bit more expensive, and I have never used them, so I do not know about the quality. It was the only site I saw that carries it. Hope it helps. Best Wishes, Fern-Marie
  19. I put mine in the freezer...they fall out of the tray, so be careful.
  20. You're gonna make her cry. I'm sure most of us did. What a sweet and thoughtful thing to do. I lost my mom a few years ago. It is still really hard for me. I am truly sorry for your loss. Send your mom a big hug for me. Fern-Marie
  21. :tiptoe: shhhh....don't let TopofMurrayHill know....:tiptoe:
  22. What a creative idea, kudos! Are you planning to make and sell any???
  23. That's what I want!! Thanks a bunch!! PSYCHE! Now, have you any idea of where I can buy a good jug of the stuff? I like bubbles. Whose is good? You are super, thank you so much. I feel at ease. Phew! thought I was in waaayy over my head. Fern-Marie
  24. I believe it is a gallon sized jug of liquid soap that one can use as their 'base'...now you see how ignorant I am of this, I didn't know it had to be melted. I see it being sold on various 'soap making' sites, and thought I would like to try it. I also have seen the Glycerin bars....but thought that with my lack of experience, the already liquified base would be my best shot. I use a soap made by Kiss My Face..it is a clear soap in a bottle and is fragranced with the Sinus Relief scent...I put in in the shower and let the water drain slowly and on my chest when I am congested. This Sinus Relief scent (I make wickless )is HUGE in my area..I literally cannot keep in on the shelf, hence, the replication idea. Am I getting in over my head here? I am really looking for a simple mixer-upper. I have to give you ladies credit, you have a wealth of knowledge that I can't even pretend to understand. And...prairieannie, I am sorry but I though in the past that I may have referred to you as prairieJeannie...oops...pardon! Thanks so very much for your help. Fern-Marie
  25. D Bud, couldn't happen to a nicer person. :tiptoe:
