  1. Hi, I use the same pans, so I'm going to "weigh" in on this one. You cannot say that they are 1 oz, Lynne is right, 'approximately' is more near correct.....HOWEVER; The tarts, in fractions, weighs 5/8 oz - if you are filling as much as you can, and I am sure that you are. That is closer to 1/2 an oz. it is not close to an oz. It is only one eighth of an ounce more than a half an ounce. 7/8 would be closer to a full ounce....BEING 1/8 oz less than a full oz, see. That having been stated, you may want to recheck your wax and FO weights. I know it gets terribly confusing sometimes. It can be an awful struggle. I'm glad that my scale weighs in fractions, I can understand better. If it matters to you, I have sold a lot of these tarts, and not one single person has asked me what they weigh. I got pans that measured out at an ounce at the supermarket...they only hold, I think 12 muffins, but you can get the oz. They were also very pricey - I'm sure because I got them at the market rather than finding them at Wal-Mart. Best wishes to you. Fern Marie
  2. KMommy is absolutely right on this. Take caution when using menthol crystals. Tingle is great when done properly! Think about how much would be used if you were making a soap...it must be a skin safe amount or you can burn your 'sensitive' areas....get it? Menthol is very acidic, and can be quite dangerous if mishandled. You can burn your mucous membranes also if you use too much. Please take caution when using pure menthol crystals! Besides, flu is bad enough without a burn on top of it. You would be better off putting a small bit in hot water and steaming it to break up your congestion. Nature's Garden makes a "Sinus Relief" FO which is skin safe/soap safe. This is one of my best sellers - if not the best, especially for colds and allergies. I do wickless and tarts with this FO. PPL love this stuff. I have also seen the soap form made by "Kiss My Face" - it is a menthol-eucalyptus scent called 'Cold and Flu Bath', which I purchased through www.drugstore.com The stuff is fantastic. It works so well that I have given some to sick friends and family when theyve been sick. They all love it. My suggestion is: for future ills, keep one of these products in. I am sorry that you are sick. I know how awful you feel. I hope you feel better soon.
  3. Take a good, thick paper towel, i.e. Bounty or the Kleenex brand. Place it over the crayon marks. Using a warm, but not too high temp set IRON- you don't want to burn or over heat the fibers of the carpet as it will melt just like any other over heated object when ironing. The warmth of the iron will melt the wax crayon, and the paper towel will absorb it...I have personal experience with this one. Solvents may stain the carpet and lead you to a whole other set of problems. Good Luck
  4. I remembered something else that I read about Goat's Milk: the ph level is the closest thing to humans, which I imagine makes it that much less irritating to sensitive skin. I know that my mother, in her younger days, a.k.a "the oldern days", used to use powdered milk in baths. I have never tried it, but it was very popular at one time. So, I guess that would substitute for cow's milk soap, eh? I would try a cow's milk product, why not, we drink it. I like cows! lol Milk Bath, as a bubble bath additive, was very popular at one time, like in the 70's. I don't know which animal provided the milk though. I remember back in the 80's something came out about using plain yogurt for yeast infections, and women were using it - some still do, and not orally. This, by the way, still makes me laugh. Can you imagine! lol ...and no, I never tried that either!
  5. Ya know, I was just hunting around the web for Goat's Milk Soap and wondering why someone doesn't do Shea and Goat's Milk. What a coincidence that I stumbled across this thread! This would be "the premiere" soap of soaps! I hope that you try this and are successful. I am very interested in the product. I have eczema, very sensitive, and very dry skin, and am afraid that I will have to start making the stuff just to satisfy my poor skin! Just try finding a good moisturizing soap without fragrance...forget it! I need relief. Would you mind posting results, or please feel free to pm me. I am very, very interested. Thanks. Fern-Marie
  6. I believe Goat's Milk has more fat, making it creamier. It has a natural glycerin also. It just feels wonderful on the skin. I've never heard of Cow's Milk soap. lol I use Goat's Milk Soap from Canus. It is very rich, lathery, creamy, non-irritating. Probably the first soap I have ever used with no side affects. Goat's Milk soothes irritated skin, good for dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema. I am actually looking for a good base of Goat's Milk Soap. Most I see don't seem to have enough Goat's Milk in it as far as I, as a consumer, think it is supposed to have. I wish I had more info for you, but I have just started investigating this. Fern-Marie
  7. Thank you all so much...I am sure that this will increase my productivity.
  8. Do you use the Presto Pots with paraffin, or soy? It doesn't burn? I have one that I used to use for gel candles. It has a spiggot attached, which never actually worked with gel. Is this what you are talking about? How long does it take to melt the wax? I use strictly soy. I would love to use mine for my soy, but I am afraid that it will burn it. Thanks.
  9. At Instawares.com....3 dozen, 4.5 oz for $19.95 - they have a larger size also. Sounds like a great price to me.
  10. Those are cute little containers. I likes lots!
  11. Hey there neighbor! Care to share where you got that oil? I would love to try it just to see what it feels like. Thanks. Fern-Marie
  12. I hope you don't mind if I ask you a question. If you add water to the bases, does it need to be Distilled? Sterilized? Any additional preservatives? Do you have to add water, I thought that they were an as is thing? I haven't even started making them yet, so you already are the 'experienced' one as far as I'm concerned! Thanks.
  13. Isn't it good that this board exists, just for that reason. I am glad for both of us that we didn't take that plunge! I was just about to place an order when I happend across a statement on another thread. Phew! I feel as though I dodged a bullet. CandleScience is looking into adding a B&B line. I think I may wait. I trust them fully.
  14. I can vouch first-hand for the excellent scents offered by Nature's Garden, as well as CandleScience. I have heard/read that Millcreek and Bitter Creek also have wonderful scents. I don't think you can go wrong. Peak's seems to be the majority fav here, though. Of course, the individual scent will vary from company to company, but as for the one's I have used, I love them all. I have almost all of CandleScience's scents. Love them. NG has so many, it would take me a lifetime! But, they are just excellent scents and their Customer Service, for both, is outstanding. I know, that didn't help, huh.
  15. It really does sound like fun, doesn't it. Girls of all ages love to play with make-up and lotions and potions, don't we!
  16. I don't know if it does either, but I would love to find out! lol Thanks.
  17. My mother-in-law called me from Maine, she said that Yankee was pulling out. None of the stores are carrying it anymore, and no one who had them is restocking. So, now that I know that they are out of her area in Maine..I can knowingly tell her where they went...South Africa!
  18. I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but LoneStar and a few others are selling the wick centerer. It works really well. Costs around ten dollars. Also, you can use a straw. Put the wick in the straw and guide the wick to the center of the glass as you look at it from the bottom. I hope this is what you are asking.
  19. Can I ask you a question...If a lotion or other body product is Soy based, does that mean it will clog pores? Thanks, hope you don't mind me jumping in here, Damelza.
  20. Oh, Candleman. I was going to order stuff from her, until just recently some whole lotta bad news about them on this board. Nothing good. Not one person had anything good to say about Mabel White. Believe me, I was thanking my lucky stars that I hadn't placed an order. If I find the thread, I will pass it on.
  21. Vinegar..it takes out skunk...trust me on this...it will take out oils. What you need is something that will break down the oils. Vinegar.
  22. Maybe you can buy it from someone on the board? Or trade? Just a thought.
  23. I keep a large stock of Cinnamon on hand at all times. A lot of ppl, like myself, get headaches with the florals. I can smell Cinnamon all day and all night with no problem. Besides, isn't it a nice scent to come home to? It's a year-rounder.
