  1. Thanks Barbara! Looks great in the cut pics too! I need to get some , as I currently mix about 3 colorants for red, and this would sure make it easier and better results.
  2. I taught myself. I have terrible skin, and after trying lye soap and the improvement in my skin after using just one bar, I knew I wanted to try making it myself. I read books from our library and lots of research and trial & error. I've always been crafty and a diy type person. I taught myself how to paint to when we built our house and went overbudget,lol... To make oat milk- you simply just soak oats in a bowl of water for a day or two and strain. The ratio I use is about a cup or more to 4 cups of water. I stir it every now and then and then strain out the oats before mixing with my lye for soapmaking. It turns a light brownish color after mixing with the lye.
  3. Yes, I do love soapmaking! Truly is an addiction, but I do admit sometimes I get kinda burned out once in a while..I think many of us crafters go through these spells.
  4. Amazing! Those firestarters are so warm and rustic! Awesome presentation and photography, and your pets are too cute!
  5. Thanks OG! I ground up the oats in the coffee grinder for this soap, but tossed a few whole oats on top for decoration. The Japanese Cherry Blossom from FB is quite an accelerator in soap! It's my Mother's favorite, and I like the fragrance too, so I guess it's worth all the trouble..
  6. They all look lovely, and I bet they smell amazing too!
  7. Thanks Suzy! I used ultramarine blue, and BCN's orange geltone mixed with one of WSP's orange colorants.
  8. Lovely soaps! I too like the delicate swirls, and I'm wondering if the whipped soap floats like Ivory?
  9. Those are beautiful! Oh I wouldn' t cut through those pretty snow flakes either! Beautiful gifts for your family to enjoy for a long time!
  10. I blend tutti fruity pink colorant WSP with a little red oxide, and also add NG tomato red, but sure would be good to find a true red without all the blending.
  11. I wanted to share some of my recent soaps, and overlook my bad photography skills.. Cool Water type Peach Magnolia Raspberry Oatmeal & Honey made with oat milk and goat milk Sea Salt Charcoal Coconut Milk Japanese Cherry Blossom type Tiger Daiquiri
  12. These will make nice gifts! Perfect, hope you sell out!
  13. Very pretty, and love the vibrant colors! where do you get that perfect red colorant?
  14. I like the suggestions given, and I also like citruses such as grapefruit especially with green bamboo.
  15. A great looking log of soap, Barb! wish I could smell it too! My 14 yr. Old loves the Axe types deoderants, sprays, and begs me to buy matching body washes, but I have a hard time giving in since I make soap. I think all the kids his age love them! I got some NG Stud, and made a batch several months ago and he said was too light, and I agreed...he plays a lot of sports and needs something strong to cover up the B.O. after workouts, and practice.
  16. Yw, Sonoma! I don't like the rating system on FB site either..I went on the site and changed the rating on gypsy rose,lol... I much rather rely on reviews on soap making boards:) Sultana is lovely, I think I just have too many choices and people get overwhelmed..I need to bring that one to thier attention and it would probably sell better. Patchouli types don't sell that great in my area, but somedays they do..it varies. Most around my area like Essential Oil soaps, Oatmeal, fruity and clean types best.
  17. I soaped FB Gypsy Rose on Tuesday, and I give it a thumbs up for scent retention, and I think it is pretty comparable to the original in cp soap. Do use full water, as it will accelarate and also heats up in the mold..went through gel very quickly. I don't think it will discolor.I added pink colorant to the oils before soaping, and added some a couple cups of soap confetti scraps, and so far no discoloration. The Japanese Cherry blossom from FB has been selling great for me. I love it, but another acclelorator fo, so I use full water. I ordered 2 more lbs. Of it last order. I also used goat milk in both soap batches. I also like Sultana type, but not a good seller for me so far. I don't care for his version of Very Sexy for women in cp soap, don't like Rose Jam either.
  18. The last time I soaped BCN's Ed Hardy dupe, it thickened up on me too much by the time Poured it in the mold. I had used 3 colors for swirling, and forgot to use full water. Big mistake! I used my wooden slab mold, and had to wind up putting it in the warm oven as well because the soap wasn't in the corners and was all uneven. I stirred it around some with my chopstick some after it gelled, and banged it on the counter, and got it evened out best I could.
  19. I'm a little late seeing your post, but anytime I have a seizing soap on a stick pot of soap, I heat my oven to 170 degrees and stick the stainless steel pot of soap in the oven until it gels, and then pour in the mold. It's not as pretty and smooth as regular cp, but I hate rebatching soap with a passion and this oven method works like a charm for me. I don't like fooling with the crockpot either,lol..I found a salad shooter at bed bath & beyond a few days ago on clearance and shredded up a lot of old soap scraps and rejects, and had it in my mind that I was going to do the quick microwave rebatch method and I wound up trashing the first batch, as I never could get it smooth enough to my liking. I'm just going to use the rest of the soap shreds for confetti soap in new batches so it doesn't go to waste, as I'm done with this rebatching business! I hope your soap turned out ok, it's odd that an orange fragrance seized up on ya..most time citruses thin out the batter.
  20. Thanks for the recs! You know how it is..can't order just one little fo!
  21. Awesome label, and agree that the ribbon is such a nice finishing touch! I Love it too!
  22. Yes, I remember you mentioning the black sensuous rose, and I made a note to order their version, but I need to figure out what else to get from Elements, lol! Maybe Patchouli honey?
  23. I got FB's Gypsy Rose fo today, and smells like a pretty good dupe of Moon Works version. I tested both versions on each wrist to judge and FB's May lack a little bit of the depth or richness that the original has, but I think it's a close match:) Will put it in soap soon..
  24. I need to place an order with MC, and wondering if their High Cotton is a dupe to Yank*** clean cotton? I usually use CS or BCN for this scent and I'm out..Thanks!
