  1. Moonworks version of Celtic Mist never did sell well for me in cp soap. hard to describe the scent, but I'd say it is unisex, one of my least favorites from MW's for sure. Boudior was as well. I like Forest nymph for a nice unisex scent. Wondering if anyone has soaped FB's Pink Sugar and White Tea & Ginger? I too would like to hear reviews on some of the new fo's that came out.
  2. My favorite is soapsupplies.net salty sea air! Sticks great in cp soap, though it does accelerate trace.
  3. I quit offering a vanilla besides Pink sugar due to the playdough factor. I've tried many other different vanilla's and wasn't happy with any, even The Scent Works Madagascar vanilla. Pink sugar is a bestseller for me in lotion, and sells decent in soap too.
  4. I use my straight coconut LS to remove laundry stains and for cleaning only. For a good hand soap I prefer more moisturizing oils along with the coconut oil. The soap will trace much quicker if some glycerine is subbed for some of the water amount. You can make it in a crockpot or I like to use a large stainless steel pot and after the soap traces place it in a warm oven to cook. Stir it every now and then, and you wind up with a translucent paste. Remove alittle paste and check it for doneness with a drop of phenolpthalein. If clear it's done. If pink, then continue cooking. After it's done, dilute. Jackie Thompson just came out with a new book, "Liquid Soapmaking". It has a lot of recipes, info and tips that might be helpful. I recently got a copy.
  5. Yes it is easy to make your own using potassium hydroxide. Coconut oil makes really thin liquid soap, which is perfect for foamed bottles. Olive oil makes a thicker soap.
  6. I too get my olive oil at Sam's club. Prices keep rising though. I sometimes order it from Soaper's Choice if ordering lots of other bulk oils. I have used Aldi's in the past and never had any problems in the soap. I worry about adulterated olive oil, and only use from these sources.
  7. Black raspberry vanilla is getting old for me too, CB..It used to be such a popular scent..Pearberry used to sell better too, but both are slower sellers for me lately..Peach magnolia Rasp from Tennessee Candles outsells all my other fruity type soaps, and a real sticker in cp! Most popular scent in my lotions as well. EBB's Black sensuous rose is a recommended dupe of Gypsy Rose, but I haven't got to try it yet in cp. It has been on my wishlist, but haven't got around to ordering. So much Fo stock that I REALLY need to use up, and trying to cut down on supply cost unless it's a "necessity". Pheww! It's so easy to get carried away ordering supplies. I really want to try Fillmore's daffodil too!,lol.. I'd be glad to send you some sniffies of Gypsy and PMR if you like:)
  8. Wonderful thread! I've been working on my spring to do list as well, Lavender and Lavender blends are always very popular for me. This week I soaped a batch of Lavender, and Lavender & Clary Sage Charcoal. Lavender Mint Strawberries & Champagne Honeysuckle Jasmine( after reading Scented's post, I think orange blossom would blend in nicely) Casablana Lily (WYW) BCN- I haven't soaped this fo before, but lovely oob and should be a good one for spring Sweet Pea Lilac Japanese Cherry Blossom Peach Magnolia Raspberry Cucumber Melon Anjou Pear Blossoms Cotton Blossom WSP Verbena & Lemon- new fo, I normally use AH/RA lemon verbena Lemongrass EO and blends Speaking of Rose..MW's was my favorite, and real impressed with the dupe from FB! Soaps are past cure date and smells like original imo. It has been a long time since I soaped Peak's Rose Bouquet, not as fragrant and doesn't sell as well as Gypsy Rose.
  9. For cp soap, these are some that do well for me: The Perfect Man Teakwood & Cardamom Vanilla & Lavender Type (discolors dark) Lavender Flowers Brown Sugar &Fig Amazing Grace Type Anjou Pear Blossom Magnolia Orange Blossom White Lily & Jasmine Cracklin Birch Very Sexy for Men Aqua Di Gio LoveSpell( sticks good in soap but prefer Tennessee's version) Aloe Vera & Cucumber Bite Me Clean Type Coconut Craze- I use in hot process soap Le mon Sugar Cotton Blossoms Pumpkin Apple Butter White peach & silk blossoms Yeah for Yummy
  10. I placed an order with WSP Wednesday, and received my order on Friday! Very impressed with tat during this busy holiday season. Love mango sorbet in lotion and liquid soap, Awesome stuff, but haven't used it in cp soap yet. Bubblegum is really good in cp soap, and a great seller for me. Grapefruit is really good in cp soap too. White Gardenia Flowers, Hot Cocoa. I just got in Verbena & Lemon, and Honeysuckle Hollow. They both smell great oob. Hard to beat WSP's prices on bulk 4 & 8 oz. lotion bottles!
  11. I use a decorative mold mostly, or the plastic single soap bar clamshells work good.
  12. I do about the same as Talltayl if I have a lot of samples to test. Usually though I make 5 large batches of soap at a time and just reserve a couple ounces of soap batter from each for testers if I only have a few.
  13. Awesome tutorial Leah, and beautiful soap! I have a pound of Peak's Apple Blossom fo, but haven't soaped it yet.Is it pretty strong in cp?
  14. I emailed her and private messaged her on facebook and my order shipped out today:) Looking forward to trying her micas/ colorants!
  15. I didn't receive any tracking info yet, ordered on Saturday..How long does it usually take to receive your orders?
  16. Awesome news on the website! I didn't mind calling in my orders though, because Brent and Kimberlie are both wonderful and really seem to care about their customers and they have quality oils! Some great ones for cp soap are peach magnolia raspberry, True Lavender, Lovespell, Winter candy apple, butt naked(discolors brown, but all other suppliers versions I've soaped do as well) dried apple wreath-this has been discontinued, and I mentioned to them that many people love this fo, and please restock if possible. I got some fall samples a while back to experiment with in wax..I'm a newbie, but liking spicy apples & peaches, spiced cranberry.
  17. Wow, that's crazy..just spewing all kinds of lies, and lots of uninformed customers probably believe him..I would've probably had a come apart on this dude,lol..
  18. I like true lavender from Tennessee Candle in cp soaping, and their website is down. so you just have to call the company to place an order. I ordered several fo's from them this summer and they told me they were restocking a lot of thier most popular oils..
  19. I just placed my first order on Saturday, and mostly ordered micas/colorants, one fo..I'd like to see some reviews on her fo's..
  20. Lovely soaps, and like that scent too!
  21. I watched the video..Wow, already in stores and making candles less than a year!..Hope this person has good insurance! I wonder if she uses fragrance oils? If so, then she certainly cannot claim it's an all natural candle! I'm sick of the all natural, organic mumbo jumbo..It's all over the net when you look at soaps on etsy, ebay, etc..ridiculous medical claims and all kind of hype to sell their products.
  22. I use Cracklin' Birch from NG in Cp soaping and it is a really strong fo!
  23. I get heavy handed too, and my red doesn't always turn out like I want everytime.. I now want to try the red rose mica that Barbara mentioned, it looks great in her Lovespell soaps in the gallery!
