  1. I 100% LOVE chef moms husbands answer- its the only logical explanation... I just finished testing straight (nothing added) 464 in the 8 ounce square mason jars with CD CDN HTP LX COTTON and this wierd type I got a sample from wicks unlimited- I will have to look on the bag for the type (supposed to be good for soy and beeswax) and EVERY one of them start steady and the then the dance begins a quarter of the way thru Same wax WITH FO - same jar and same thing BUT the SAME batch in a travel tin... Steady all the way thru- so impurities in the wax or some FO doesn't make sense to me in this case The glass does not get hot - no mushroom and great HT with the scented ones- so if it has to dance... I am going to let it! LOL I did try my smelly jelly topper and it DOES stop the dancing- I believe yank sells these to for their jars but I didn't care for hot the lid got This is soooo frustrating
  2. I use PB and 135 primarily- I have tried the 464 but they ended up frosting real bad on me after a couple of months- powdered sugar looking and I cant stand that look in a melt I have been making them with PB and 415 for the past couple of weeks but again I am not in love with the looks of them and I have yet to test the scent throw of them against the 135 PB alone does not cut it for me for HT- it most definitely makes a difference for me adding a container wax- I use more container than PB and in votives I use more PB than container
  3. I just ordered the sample containers! Thanks Jack Great video and are you going to make one burning them? I would love to see
  4. I am so glad after reading this I told a florist NO to consignment- I feel for you! I wouldn't mess around with this one- check your states lien laws and put a lien on that store ASAP In our construction business I have to do them often- people think they can get away with hiring you and not pay which is BS! If he rents that building he will be in HOT water with the owner when a lien comes thru- it costs very little and all you need is the legal description of the property and amount owed to you- here in MI we have 90 days from last day on the property to file and I only give 45 days before I file Your products being in his store that he signed a contract for I would think constitutes a right to lien The florist I told no to consignment was originally supposed to be wholesale and she decided it would be best for her to do consignment just starting up the business- I almost did it but my husband was NO WAY- and the owner got a little pissy about it but agreed- well she ordered 15 melts... That is not even worth my time!
  5. Edenpure hands down We got one for the garage to keep the barn cats toasty in the winter - I have never had to put past 2 bars of heat and it stays a cozy 65 for them and our garage is not that insulated- it runs constant but its safe- that is the biggest issue I have with heating units- my husband wanted to run gas in there and put one of those wall heaters but I had nightmares about the cats jumping on top and catching their tails on fire! My electric did go up but you will pay one way in one way or another to accomplish what you need So long story short I would think one of these units will give you a good temp for candle pouring and not have to worry about the safety or fumes
  6. Last year I tried a sample in soy melts of WSP tangerine and I really liked it... I know a lot of people don't care for buying there but in my wax they all so far have been amazing I have it on my list to re-order
  7. Yes huge difference in CT- maybe its just the FO but usually when I make votives they don't smell fantastic until they burn- these ones with 2% BW I can smell them just sitting on the counter- unlit and I didn't do anything different but the BW I have made this FO in a container candle and the CT was not this strong but it is also a different wax - container vs. votive wax So I guess to be more accurate I would have to compare the exact same mix in a votive without the BW to be for sure- I didn't really think of that.... It's just I never had a votive smell this strong CT wise so far
  8. I am not sure about Parrafin but I have read more than 3% can cause all kinds of wicking and cracking issues In soy I use 2% and it works very well in slowing down the burn and I feel it does have better HT but I am still working on wicking issues with some I tried some in soy votives last night and huge CT difference! Have to burn them to see how that part goes
  9. Today was.... Sensuous black rose Lilac My blend of rainwater and day at the spa Deb you gotta try it to for your spa line- its awesome...at least I think so! LOL
  10. I have been doing more testing with the 415 and I definately like the throw better... problem being that I cannot get it to look good- the very first batch I poured straight 415 I got smooth tops and from there it all went to hell- wet spots rough tops - you name it I have added beeswax and it helped but harder to wick I have added USA and that helped but I swear I am losing some throw doing so I have tried so many different pour temps, FO loads, wicks.... Are any one of you 415 users willing to give me a few suggestions... do you use additives or are you having sucess with straight up 100% 415...
  11. Butt naked votives JS Becky's ultimate vanilla tester jars WSP Vanilla Noir melts in my silicone mini hearts mold Hey Steve- if you like that day at the spa try mixing in some CS rainwater with it for a very fresh unique scent... makes in throw stonger to IMO Candybee... 6 months for real? it takes that long for soap.... I WAS thinking about giving it a try! LOL
  12. I was a 464 lover... still kind of am but I tested 415 and love the throw with this wax better...just working on its appearance now 464 is a great wax- it is creamy, easy to get smooth tops, does have great CT and the HT is good as well... it is a little hard to wick sometimes
  13. I have not tries other home sweet homes but I think WSP is a dead on dupe to yankee I love WSP- I have not bought one sample that has not been right on with yankee or bath and body works- I know they are expensive but I love them Dune Grass is right on- Vanilla Oak -Autumn Lodge - Fresh Mint- Lavender Sage - Sun and Sand and Witches Brew Bath and Body dupes I have tries are Vanilla Bean Noel and Vanilla Noir- I have many more on my "wish" list to try!
  14. I made testers in this last week along with rosemary and both of them drowned out in the first half hour- so yes I found with 464 with a touch of beeswax I now have to make new ones with the next 2 sizes up! Uggghhhh Again
  15. not an expert but I would think to start running hot water and boiling lots of hot water to continuously pour down the drain- as far as the wax in the sink itself- let it harden and scrape it out-dont use water for this- as little as possible going the drain the better at least soy is easier to clean off things- I have heard paraffin is a nightmare...if that helps:sad2:
  16. I have not tried it yet but I did order some- only I buy this type of product for my horses to make my own essential oil blend for show season - I have never used any myself I used to get a base from essential wholesale but I didn't care for it- it had a snotty like consistency - I like that this one you add the water yourself and make it as thick or thin as you want and it makes a lot! So hopefully it is good- it will be here next week!
  17. I LOVE this product- I really have nothing to compare it to though- its the only one I have tried aside from just using polysorbate It doesn't stain and mixes excellent and I think very reasonable in price!
  18. Ditto rjdaines Small tins I love them- jars the problem I have is they curl so much they drown themselves out within 15 minutes of the burn- I can pour some of the melted wax out and then they perform nicely but try telling that to a customer! LOL For some reason though with straight 464 just scents FO's only work well with HTP- go figure but when I add additives it all goes to hell I have not had the problem with getting a full melt pool though- once I get them burning at all- 105 is what I generally try in square mason and some do beautifully
  19. How is daystar for candles? I go there often and browse but have not tried any yet- I just recently purchased some samples from Moonworks- I really need to stop sampling- I am become a hoarder of 1 ounce FO bottles! LOL The last thing I need is another supplier but like I said- I am often drawn to daystar but have to try them Tinsel- that is one I need to try- read a thread awhile back about that one being amazing
  20. I have to believe they will have value- Even though it's washed off some will penetrate through the skin and the aroma alone is therapeutic plus a lot of People do want natural ingredients I don't know the process of making soap but I came across a couple sites I visit a lot a link that states in cp you would use .5 ounces of EO to 1 pound of soaping oils- that seems to be the standard dilution rate An acne bar would be very cool and if you can incorporate some kind of organic clay and maybe lavender buds... A small company I used to buy fly spray for my horses from before I started making my own made insect repellant soap with pure EO and it was always out of stock and a herbal store by me has lots of soaps with EO and they incorporate dry herbs in them as well- I say test and tackle that market and you can send me samples to test for you! LOL
  21. It will be a matter of preference for you... I would personally use more rosemary or lavender as peppermint is extremely strong and can over power but that is the best part of individual oils- playing with the ratio to get your own custom blend- 1:1:1 could be the perfect balance I will pm you some links for safety info on EO'S
  22. I have never made soap but I would have to believe they would ( the classes I took talked about soap but I was more interested in the oil blending that I kinda skipped over that) I myself personally have always passed up the soap from crafters made with essential oil because I dont know if they are educated enough in the use of them to be sure they are made safe- but that is just me... now I would try them from people on this forum that have been making soap for a long time! I would love to try the Myrrh (good for severly dried and cracked skin) Vetiver (good for acne, oily skin, arthritis, aches and pains) and patchouli (good for acne and eczema) in a soap Here is what I have learned about a few of the oils and have used most all of them geranium is hydrating but more of a mood balancer- most horses LOVE this one! eucalyptus is a good pain reliever, muscle stiff and soreness basil is more of mood enhancer bergamont is good for all skin ailments but can cause photosensitivity black pepper is a good for arthritis, pain reliever and wonderful for a hangover! lavender is good everything cypress is good for varicous veins sandalwood is good for balancing dry and oily skin, acne and athletes foot sweet orange is good for maintaining healthy skin but is also photosensitive peppermint is wonderful for headaches tea treee is great for all skin conditons juniperberry is good for acne, dermitits, eczema and oily skin I have been out of using oils for awhile now with all this candle testing and my day job - I need to re-visit them... I miss them!
  23. I love the scent throw with it to- way out does the 464 but I never even knew what a wet spot was until I poured this- and the tops are out of control no matter the temp I pour - I know it can be done I am just not there yet! LOL USA is helping with it but I am noticing some loss of HT using it Frost does not bother me much - wet spots and bumpy tops do
  24. Thanks that is Awesome Dude! He is 22 and still going strong barrel racing! LOL C3 is Naturewax Ecosoya advanced is an awesome looking wax- I used it years ago but got zero hot throw (for me anyway)- but people have reported success with it. The search function on that wax will give you alot of info and what others thought of it
