The show season has officially started! Well, for us anyways. Lol! We had our first show this past weekend and it was wonderful! On Sunday it rained but surprisingly we have decent sales even in the rain. Go figure! Unfortunately we were not able to break our goal from last year because of the rain but we would have if it had been good weather on the second day. Here's my booth/tent. The morning sun is in my way but you can still see it. No video this time. So sorry. I'll try and get one this next show in 2 weeks.

Are there any real craftshows left?
jackbenimble replied to mindy5140's topic in Business Side of Things
Here in Atlanta there are plenty of craft shows that do not allow direct sales representatives. In my area I feel like there is a sudden growth in the handmade market. Come down to my neck of the woods and you will find lots of opportunities. -

Keeping Pour Pots Warm?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Thank you everyone! I actually just came into an electric griddle by accident. Haha! So will try that out. Btw- finishing up pouring all my candles for the fall/ holiday shows. ... Or at least the initial pouring. I'm sure I'll be pouring more. So far I've poured 2,096 candles since I started in May. -
How does everyone keep they're pour pots warm it you do not have an oven? Right now I have my home oven to heat my pour pots before I put wax in them but I'm coming to a point by next year that I want to get a space outside of my home to work. I'm sure I won't have the option of an oven. Thanks for the advice.

Help with Wicking
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Sort of. I am trying a CD20 on the scent Citron & Mandarin from CS. Despite being a citrus FO it is on the heavy side. I've ran into this issue on citrus FO before. If I can get this FO wicked I can work with the others in this collection. I am also trying double wicks with HTP31 & HTP41. We will see how this all goes. I feel like I'm on the right track now. Thx for all the advice and checking back in friends!- 18 replies

Thoughts on this wick?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
I am going to burn until it reaches the bottom so I can get a full test. However I definitely have considered going down to a CD18 and test with that size wick. -
Thoughts on this wick?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Thank you for the advice. Wax has cured for 2 weeks -
What are your thoughts on this wick and its burn? Is it too big a mushroom? Flame size? CD-20/ 464wax/ burn time approx 4.5hrs/ approx 1/4in melt pool/ FO- my own blend

Too Large A Flame?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
So here's more pics of the test burn in this container. CD20 single wick 464 wax burn time today approx 6hrs What I'm mostly looking for is your opinion on the wax residue on the sides. If you look back at past pics in this thread you will see more wax residue than I usual like. However now that the candle has burned down I'm seeing that the wax is slowly melting off. What do you guys think? Good or still too much wax residue?- 18 replies

Would you happen to know wick size in the LX series would be comparable to a CD6?- 18 replies

Too Large A Flame?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Thanks everyone for the opinions. Chuck I actually started out testing these with a double wick (CD6) and it gave me a FMP within an hour on the first burn and the melt pool was so deep during a power burn that I didn't feel comfortable. I have looked around for a smaller size CD wicks but all I've found were CD5's although CD4's would be better I believe. Is is there anything in another wick series that is comparable to a CD4 in size?- 18 replies

Too Large A Flame?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
How is this burning in your opinion? This is the 3rd burn and has been burning for approximately 7hrs. The wax has started a tiny bit to melt off the sides but I feel like it should have been sooner. Any thoughts?- 18 replies

Too Large A Flame?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
This is the same jar I was using in the other post I made recently. The pasts testers (this is my 4th at this point) have never given me a FMP and I've tested them all the way. So I would say I have a good idea how they are burning.- 18 replies

Help with Wicking
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Thanks for the info TallTayl! So maybe I will try an ECO wick again. I tried them before as well and ended up going with a double CD wick in my current candle line. I don't know why I never followed through with ECO's. Hoping his will solve my issue.- 18 replies

Help with Wicking
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
So I'm still having issues with wicking. Lots of residue on one side of the jar. I went up to a CD18 and have made another tester with a CD20(I'm waiting a week to let it cure before I test. Is there anyone that sells a CD4 so I could double wick if I need too? CD6 is the smallest I've found in a 6in wick and a double wicked CD6 is too large.- 18 replies

I need to find a replacement for celestial sea that they carry from Moonworks. I just don't buy from them other than that.
