jackbenimble replied to JulieB's topic in Fragrance Discussion
What’s your website @JulieB? -
Here’s what else I purchased and a quick what I think out of the bottle review: Havana Breeze- ❤️ smoky tobacco and slightly sweet/ smooth Bourbon Neat- boozy/ fruity and vanilla Frazier Fir- smells like Christmas/ similar profile to Candle Science IMO Cedar + Leather- OOB the Leather is very pronounced/ undertones of cedar and some type of spice

I love the Tea Blossom FO! It has a nice herbal floral and citrus combo. This would be great for the spring but also anytime of year when you want a delicate scent. I will say it was a medium to medium strong HT for me so a keeper IMO.

Did anyone order from this FO company that just sorta sprang up since the beginning of the year called Botanic? Well I did and ordered several samples and did receive them. I’m testing one right now called Tea Blossom and it is amazing! So I go to type in the website and there’s nothing! No trace whatsoever! This is just anaother reason why I should not purchase from any small FO companies. One day there here and the next not and I’m left scrambling. Anyway, I wanted to find out if anyone had tried them besides me? Edit: Maybe I should do some more research before I post something. Its here: https://www.botanicfragrance.com/

Can FO Burn Off?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
So an update to my original post. After test burning twice on my 3rd test I could start getting a really good HT. That seems to start happening about 1/4 the way down. What I originally thought was that the flames were getting too hot and possibly burning off the scent before it could fill the space. Now I believe it wasn’t getting hot enough and after the flames get down into the jar it is creating more heat and the fragrance is able to throw. That’s my thought. Does anyone else have an opinion? Just a reminder on what I’m testing: 10oz whiskey tumbler/ using .75oz of FO/ 464 Wax/ htp62 wicks -
Can FO Burn Off?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
I have never been able get a nice clean full melt pool with a single wick so that is why I have 2. I’m currently already selling this candle jar and had tested it out very well. Now as I’m testing a new scents I’m having issues with HT. -

That seems more like what could be happening. Maybe I’ll try a CD wick since that has worked for me in the past. Thanks! -
Can FO Burn Off?

Hi Moonshine! Thank you for responding. I am aware of the 464 issue but will definitely read through the soy wax posts. I have another jar that I use and have been testing scents with it and testing is doing fine. That’s why this is so confusing to me. However I am using CD wicks with this other jar. Maybe I will try CD wicks in my whiskey jar that is causing the issue. -
Hi there! I’m currently testing a 9oz whisky style tumbler with a diameter of 3in. I am using 464 and HTP62 wicks. I’m using .75oz of fragrance oil. I double the wick the jar. My issue is when I’m testing. At the beginning I can smell the fragrance but after it gets to a full melt pool I can’t smell it anymore. Any thoughts?

PSA - test all your fragrances for a while
jackbenimble replied to Brad Ford's topic in General Candle Making Discussions
Hey guys! I contacted Candle Science this afternoon and was told that they will not be impacted by this fire as of now. If anything should impact then in the future they will notify by email and social media so that customers will know. -

CAN I STORE FRAGRANCE OILS IN THIS?
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Fragrance Discussion
Yeah I saw them but the containers I’m looking at in the link are gallon size jugs. The ones at BC only go up to 16oz but thanks for the response.- 10 replies

Hello all and Happy New Year! I want to know if this type of container is ok to store fragrance oils in? I’d like to start mixing large batches of my FO blends and these look perfect but not sure if this type of plastic is ok for FO. It’s made of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) Thanks for any help/ advice you have. https://m.uline.com/h5/r/www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-10748/Jugs/F-Style-Jugs-1-Gallon-White

Bump... Anyone?

Hi there! I’m lookin looking for a great pear FO that works great in soy wax. I’ve tried PEAKS Bartlett Pear in the past and while it’s good it takes awhile to get a medium HT from it. Anyone tried Filmore’s French Pear? I’ve seen that one.

Ditto on the Winter Wonderful.

JulieB is not the owner of Keystone. Remember Julie was one of the suppliers when Peak first closed that was willing to dupe some of the fragrances. I hope I’m not wrong in my statement.

FAVORITE Halloween / Fall Fragrance OILS
jackbenimble replied to Moonstar's topic in Fragrance Discussion
More fresh/ citrus scents over all. Unique combinations. During fall/ Holiday I sell a lot of Nutmeg + Ginger and Coffee Shoppe. Those are my only 2 “food” type scents. Lots and Balsam and balsam blends. -

Testing Toasted Pumpkin Spice from CS today. 464 soy with a 12 day cure and pretty decent already in the living room. I’m just testing for fun. Atlanta just doesn’t get into Pumpkin scents at all. Lol! -
FAVORITE Halloween / Fall Fragrance OILS
jackbenimble replied to Moonstar's topic in Fragrance Discussion
So, just throw my two cents in about favorite fall/Halloween fragrances. In the past I’ve used Backwoods honey gingerbread but that was the only scent from them I used. So this year I tested Fillmore’s Nutmeg + Ginger and it has been a great seller for me! I did not change the name at all and I feel it helped because it did not put a specific season to the scent even though it’s technically apart of my holiday collection. -

First Show of the Fall Season!
jackbenimble replied to jackbenimble's topic in Business Side of Things
Yes you are correct! I do very well at that price although 7 years ago when I first started my business I sold the same candles for $15 and gradually I have raised my price to $18. The 10oz is the only size I make and do very well at that size. I do agree with @Jcandleattic if you stick to your price and are confident then folks will buy your candles. Plus people want quality and are willing to pay for it.- 14 replies

First Show of the Fall Season!

Thank you @Clear Black! I actually did all the writing on the chalkboard sign myself. It's very simple to do. I printed out the phrases I wanted to whatever size and then took chalk and rubbed the entire back of the paper where the writing is. Then place it on your sign where you want it and trace the outline. The chalk will imprint on your surface and then I took permanent paint pen and filled it all in. Super simple but it is tedious. Now I have all my displays set and no need to worry about rain or smudges. Hope that helps! Let me know if you decide to do it.- 14 replies
