  1. The testing has gone well. I like the C3 and 464 the best. I'm not settled on a wick yet though. I am now leaning toward the ECO wicks for containers.
  2. I just bought the sample pack from Lone Star. I just poured 2 this morning with C-3 soy in 2 different jars, and with 2 different size wicks. I'll report back after I test them. Right now I am just curious to see what they do.
  3. I have a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol near me at all times.
  4. Vanilla Crunch is my favorite and I've tried several. I don't like vanillas very much.
  5. Stella, I do believe I know what almond you are speaking of. I've had the same experience.
  6. Oh I see. I have no ideas to help, but if I happen to come across some I'll come back post where I saw them.
  7. I don't weigh wax. I melt it and measure it out in liquid ounces. 20 liquid oz. of paraffin is 1 pound. 18 liquid oz. of soy is 1 pound. I don't use a scale for much of anything anymore except shipping. And even when making larger batches the same rules apply. It is just a different way of measuring that is just as accurate.
  8. The main thing about keepsake jars is the lids. The lid is what makes the jar keepsake. Once you find the size jar you are looking for, then you can try to locate the keepsake lids in the size that you need.
  9. I've never mixed container wax with votive wax. Not sure how that would work out. Votives need to be hard. Don't try to cut the votive wax. It is easier to use a hammer and chisel (screw driver) and break it into pieces.
  10. Start with 1 oz. per pound. What type of wax are you using? What type of candles are you wanting to make?
  11. Actually I think 6006 is a paraffin wax with a little soy added. The soy in 6006 is minimal. It is more of a paraffin blend than a soy blend.
  12. I haven't read this whole thread, but I honestly think the CD wick did that. I highly suggest trying LX wicks.
  13. Here is the statement from the National Candle Association. http://www.candles.org/pdf/Massoudi_Hamidi_Study.pdf
  14. I've tried both and I still prefer soy. I too use Ecosoya PB.
  15. Wait for the tops to form a semi thick skin, poke 2 relief holes near the wick pin, and then re-pour. That should help.
  16. I don't like several of the berry scents - raspberry, blackberry, mulberry, cranberry. I also don't like roses, dogwood or jasmine.
  17. I used liquid black from Lone Star. I think I added about 10 drops.
  18. Very nice! They do look like they'd take a while to make. Very pretty!
  19. 6006 wax is about 75% paraffin and 25% soy. There is NO reason to add CO.
  20. I used All Hallows Eve. I am testing that candle now, using an LX26 wick. The candle seems to be burning properly, but the flame sure does seem tall. I keep trimming it, but it still gets tall. Might have to try again and wick down.
  21. You're right Stella, and I agree with you 100% I've worked with it (CBA) for about 4 years. Time to throw in the towel. I am testing GB464, CB135, C-3, and ALL of them perform better than CBA!
  22. Hi Linda! Just one more day before she has the baby! Yikes!
