  1. Those are just adorable! I just did a craft show at a watermelon festival and had grand ideas of making something similar to that, but I clearly don't have your talent or patience! Great Job!
  2. I got the burnt smell, too. I thought I must be nuts since everyone raves about this oil. I guess I'll have to get up the nerve to light it again (it makes me sneeze!) and see if it's still there. It is great in my tarts, but hasn't been a huge seller as of yet. It is only August, though! Anyway, I use a parasoy and had to wick up 2 sizes from my normal wick!
  3. for fragrances that are good in 415!! It is the "soy" in my parasoy, too! So what percentage do you guys tend to use with ICS? Is it comparable to other suppliers? I don't notice much talk about them on this board. Also, anyone know if they have a good creme brulee or sugar cookie?
  4. No help here, but I'm so glad you asked! I've never ordered from ICS before, but I need clamshells, and they have the best deal I've found, so I was going to give them a try. I was going to post the very same question as I figured I might as well test out some fall/holiday scents as long as I was ordering anyway! Looking forward to some more suggestions!
  5. I just did an outdoor show yesterday and it was over 100 degrees here. I was sooo worried about my clamshell melts melting, but they did just fine. We were in a shady spot, and had a tent, and while the melts did start to get the tiniest bit soft (looked like they had wet spots) they were no where near melting and didn't seep. No need for the million ice packs I took (actually they made matters worse as they caused condensation on some of the packages.) I would recommend packing in a ice chest if you have melts, but no ice required! My 4 ounce candles did just fine!
  6. Not sure how similar they are, but I blend J223/415, but the 415 is my primary wax. I use CD and ECO wicks. I did start out with some zinc wicks, but didn't like the mushrooming/soot I got with them. Happy testing!
  7. I'm not sure where it is either, but I guess I'm going to find out! Well, I hope, anyway! I know it's somewhere not too far from Chickasha, where I will be staying with my friend who is helping me...Surely she can get me there!
  8. Thanks for the encouragement, Jenny! You are definitely right, and I certainly don't want to give the appearance of having a cheap (low quality) candle either!
  9. Yep, Candybee, I realized after I posted that didn't make a lot of sense! Thinking $4 or 4/$15 as someone suggested earlier. Jaime: I'm afraid to tell you b/c I'm sure my booth will be a disaster. It's only the 2nd show I've ever done and the first was 5 years ago! I'm totally out of money for my display, so it should be um...interesting. Anyway, at risk of making a fool of myself, it's the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival on Saturday. You'll know us by the random purses hanging about! Two of my friends are coming with me and they make bags, so we'll be the booth that looks like a flea market.
  10. Yep, I know. I am taking them to a show for the first time this weekend, so I think I'll have two signs ready to go: one for $4.50 each or 3/$12, and one for $3.50 each or 3/$10, that way I can start at the higher price, but be prepared in case someone next to me has 8 ouncers for $5! I know it depends on the market; I just have taken a break from selling for aboiut 5 years, so I'm kind of out of the loop on what things are selling for at shows these days. I do know that $3.50 is as low as I will go, any lower than that is just not worth my time. Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts!
  11. Thanks, guys! Just needed to hear from someone that $4.50 wasn't too much after hubby's reaction. He made me nervous! Sorry if I sounded rude earlier...I appreciate everyone's efforts to help! I should have stated my question better!
  12. Ack! I really need to work on my question-asking skills! I know the formula, but these are a bit tricky since the jar costs so much in comparison to the amount of product it holds (costs the same as the 8 oz jars.) The finished product costs me about $1.50 each to make, so x 3 would be $4.50, and probably what I need to go with. I just wondered what others charge and/or would be willing to pay for this size container. I think I will end up starting at $4.50 or 3/$12 and see if they sell. I asked dh how much he thought they should sell for and he said $3....not very encouraging!
  13. Ummm, perhaps I did not phrase my question well. I am asking what the going rate is for the finished product, not where to buy the containers. Also, while I'm at it, I'm going to be making smelly jellies in these too and trying to set a price for both the candles and smelly jellies.
  14. I hope this is the right place to post this! Does anyone sell the 4oz. jelly jars? I've searched like crazy, but found very little info on this size. Just wondering what a reasonable price would be. I've found lots of sites selling theirs for $5 each, but I don't think I'm going to try that! I'm thinking $3.50-4.50....any thoughts? These are quilted jars with silver lids and tied with raffia.
  15. The only one I use is the Asian Amber. I have only used it in tarts, and it throws wonderfully, but I think it is a love it or hate it fragrance. I kinda like it, but I'm not sure how it will sell. I'm taking it to a craft show for the first time this weekend, and interested to see how it sells. Love to hear the reviews you get on the others!
  16. You know there are all kinds of toppers made specifically for that purpose, right? They supposedly improve the burn by blocking drafts, etc. are you saying all of these things that are manufactured for that purpose are unsafe?
  17. I'm not a huge lavender fan either, but I was pouring it and honeysuckle at the same time the other day, and made a big tart out of the extra wax from the two batches, and it wasn't bad. I think I may try it again, on purpose, this time!
  18. They would get hot, but so would any jar, right? Not like you want to grab it, lid or no lid. Anyway, I called the place that sells them and they said as far as they knew, they were only a lid, and not sure if you culd burn the candle with the lid or not. But if it's just a lid, what's the point of having a hole, right? I guess I'm going to have to order a few and try it out.
  19. Okay, anyone who hasn't tried, but has an opinion anyway? :rolleyes2 Trying to decide if it's worth ordering a couple to test.
  20. Ditto! Great Start, but right now, I think you see flowers, then your logo. If the flowers were a bit more translucent, I think your name would stand out more.
  21. Has anyone ever tried burning their candles with one of these? I thought these would be great to put on jelly jars if they could be used like other candle toppers and kept on while burning. Any one use these?
  22. Thanks for taking the time to sniff. My hubby said, "I don't know; something I don't like" when I asked him. In other words, he thought it smelled bakery, which he isn't a fan of. He spends lots of time being miserable, because bakery scents are my favorites! Anyway, I never got around to making this today. Hopefully will tomorrow. Love to hear what you think of it if you pour it. Thanks again for the reply!
  23. Oh my goodness, those are beautiful!
  24. Has anyone tried this? I am about to put it in wax, and I just don't smell coffee really. OOB, it smells like some sort of bakery something or other...I dunno. Trying to decide what it smells like and what to call it if it throws. This is LS's description: Special spice blend of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger wrapped around a buttery almond accord with a sweet vanilla and maple dry down. Where's the coffee? Any thoughts?
  25. http://southernsoapers.com/cart/stevia-sweetener-oil-based-p-285.html No glycerine! May have to try this stuff. Thanks, Scented, for the tip!
