  1. Read the reviews from the different companies FO on this forum, then you can shop around. Berts are very well priced but she keeps her overheads to a minimum, doesn't effect the quality of the product. Candlewic has sales, so wait for those, in fact there is a sale on right now with 25% off I think. Read all reviews and you will know what to buy and where
  2. I think that a candle can be very upscale in any colour or style (container or pillar) and the packaging is what sells it as upscale or not, definately. I will mention that a plain pure white pillar can look really upscale, same with a black one. I think most people where I live prefer plain, non-coloured soy wax containers.
  3. Not sure, but I would think it would last ages
  4. They look like a Libbey jar from the jarstore. What wick would you use? surely they are difficult to burn evenly being square
  5. They are starting to go down, I hope
  6. Nuscents has a video similar to that, don't they and they heat the wax in the microwave. I don't even think they mention what wick they are using and they use a wine glass (from what I can remember) It also looks Soooooooooooooooo simple
  7. I have worked with 464, lots of frosting and cracks. I then tried 415 and it has great Ct and HT but because you have to pour so cool, it doesn't always have even tops. I do add CO so that I don't get the craters as much when it cools after burning and I add quite a lot. I have just tested C3 with CO and really like it, great CT and HT and good glass adhesion. I guess it is all in the testing and what works for you LOL
  8. I don't make containers with paraffin but I do make pillars with a straight paraffin MP140. I add vybar 343 from candlewic (no stearic) I then add FO and get the most lovely mottled pillars. Of course you have to pour a little hotter. I don't know where else you can buy this particular vybar and not sure if it works in containers but it is not too expensive
  9. I never heat my jars, but make sure that they are not icy cold before pouring.
  10. I use square braid wick spools from candlewic for all my pillars and all my waxes, they are fantastic on the burn and I wouldn't change.
  11. Buy a standard size box of your choice of colour and line with tissue paper
  12. Some unusual shapes will always leak. A normal round pillar should not
  13. I have a customs broker, 2 actually, which I can't recommend because you live in a different part of the world. What I can say is that it is imperative to have one for things to run smoothly (generally) you don't want the stress of dealing with imports, exports etc without one as you probably do not have the knowledge required for customs codes, duties, etc and you will end up forking out a fortune.
  14. The best true Patch is EO, it is worth the extra $$$$ as you use less anyway
  15. I use wooden skewers all the time, they are so cheap they can just be thrown away. Never had a problem with FO and colour not mixing properly. I sometimes have to scrape the bottom of the pot with the end of the skewer to get excess dye mixed in, but it does the job.
  16. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII:grin2:
  17. I burn test candles in my huge candle room FULL of scented candles of all fragrances and if I can smell it burning through all of that, it is a stayer!!
  18. I use 415 and it does leave a craggy surface but tends to burn down first and then consumes the wax when it starts to catch up and burn out. It is most likely to happen with 100% soy, the nature of the beast.
  19. It happens with most types of waxes, so don't worry. It is at the bottom of the candle so is more likely to get the most saturation of FO and the most heat
  20. Something really strange happened which has never happened before so I thought someone might be able to shed some light here. I made some crystal palm containers with Hunters green Liquid dye, 50/50 Jasmine and honeysuckle and UV, they came out great. Next day reheated the mixture and it stunk like it was off and the colour had turned a dark olive green???? I had to throw away 1lb wax LOL:mad: I will mention that I had made another batch with a different colour and FO and Nothing happened to this wax/fo, in fact it has never happened when I have reheated wax and fo in this wax EVER!! Help out there, please!!!
