  1. Use Candlewic vybar 343 with normal paraffin wax and you should get a nice mottle when you pour a bit hotter
  2. Very nice and what a popular fragrance
  3. Liquid dyes reign as they take much less time. Count the drops (exact which you can't get from flakes) they work wonders, who wants to spend time trying to get flakes to be exact.
  4. It depends on the diameter of the candle!!! Yes it can take 4 hours to get a complete melt pool in soy wax. You have to test
  5. LX 24-28 is what I would try, but each FO is different in soy
  6. Each fragrance can have a different wick size in soy wax for each container
  7. If you live where I do, chinese imports have it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but no import duties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Oh no!!! surely washing in the dishwasher is the same as putting wax down the drain, a definate no, no!!!!!! Sorry about your mold but please use a heatgun or simillar. We are trying to conserve our environment as well as you are trying to conserve your dishwasher!!
  9. I have had terrible leak problems with the palm pillars, as it is poured so hot, and tore my hair out!!!!! I now use plumbers putty with fantastic results. It costs a bit more but you save a lot more time and wax. It stinks but does not affect the wick. I have tried all sorts of tape and things but if you are pouring this hot, you need to try this putty. I spent months trying to resolve this problem, lots of leaks later!!!!!!
  10. I totally agree. All our countries imports from china have wicks stuck through them and very often they come out in the shops. I have to agree that wicking a mould is the best with no "cheap" look to them, and I might add that I find the pins are not centre and they sometimes get stuck in the candle!! Handcrafted candles always look better with preset wicks.
  11. You can try a strip of masking tape with a hole made in it from a skewer.
  12. Then I think it is a temperature issue. This wax has to cool evenly from top to bottom. Try the box method
  13. I love RRD wicks for natural waxes in containers. IMO they are no different to other wicks for direction, they burn all the wax if you have the right size wick.
  14. I bought 2 types of FO for a cheap price, well, they didn't mix with the wax and stuffed up my molds with something horrific like a cement resedue. Buy from those recommended on the site here.
  15. You need to define what soy wax, etc you are using
  16. I never double wick, if it doesn't single wick it is not for me.
  17. The wick has to be bigger because it either drowns out or tunnels down the middle and the sides don't get consumed.
  18. Certain waxes you can't "hug" so customers get confused. You have to make it clear to them.
  19. I use red and black. Depending on the depth of colour, you have to test, but to get a dark colour, I use 50/50
  20. Paraffin wax has gone sky high due to demand, so I can't agree with your comment on this. It is more expensive than any other wax in my area at the moment.
  21. Engage in conversation and make the customer feel like a king or queen. If you know your products, it is easy to talk about and answer any questions. People like someone to talk about their poduct in a knowledgeable way. No need to sell at all
  22. I never use more than 5% in any wax and have always had good smelling candles that people even say are too strong at times with certain FO. EO is supposed to be milder in a candle than FO but 5% is adequate. Don't waste money if you don't need to!!
  23. I haven't used patch with FO, only EO and it is great in soy, but you do have to wick up quite a bit.
  24. Branding is always important to people no matter how the candle burns!!!! Some companies have heaps of money and good marketing which makes them well known and branded, but maybe when they started small, they used to make the candles themselves and they were good, now they have worker bees who are not concerned about what the original chandler was:grin2: That is the way of the world. Right time, right place, right product and lack of other the same.
