  1. I love square braid wick for my palm pillars and paraffin pillars. I use spools as I wick my moulds before pouring. Never had black smoke and wicks trim nicely. Not tried them in beeswax. I get mine from Candlewic.
  2. I prefer C3 as it is very flexible with pour temp at different times of the year and I always get lovely smooth tops. I like the C1 too but there is a big controversy over palm wax and I think that palm wax is an ingredient in C1. As Stella says, if no C3 around I would use C1.
  3. Essential oils on the lips are safe at 1%, BUT you need to do your research as to any contraindications of the particular essential oils you are using. ALSO, they have to be pure 100% essential oils, if they are messed with in the lab and adulterated, then they can be harmful or useless. I use spearmint and lavender pure essential oils in lip balm for my whole family. Very beneficial.
  4. Use pure essential oils of lavender, patchouli, geranium. If you don't have all, use lavender and add it to olive oil. 2 drops/teaspoon.
  5. The color is causing your frosting problem. I would suggest that you wait overnight and then heatgun in the morning, you should get a nice top first time. In saying that, though, I don't use your wax, but it is worth giving a go.
  6. I agree, keep the wick the same and test burn, then compare it with your first
  7. I always shake. By the time it is ready to pour, the bubbles will be gone
  8. Wet spots are part of candle life. We use C3 and sometimes we don't see wet spots for 2 weeks, perfect candles, and suddenly a slight change in temp and they will all get them. Used to get very upset but now we just accept them as a fact and people buy because they like the smell. Do an experiment and set up a stall where all your candles have wetspots and I guarantee you won't have one single customer ask you about it or even mention it, I am talking hundreds of people. The prat that asks you is some twit who is a shitty candle maker themself.
  9. Taylored concepts have really great ready mixed reed diffuser oils
  10. Don't make them myself yet, but would go 4oz due to a price issue with customers. It is what people are prepared to spend and less is normally the norm.
  11. Not knowing the size of them, I thought, tampon holder, straight away, not sure why I'm the only one?:tiptoe:
  12. Those candles are absolutely awful and I would be embarrassed if I were the shop owner. I know what it is like with the mentality of people preferring to buy cheap chinese candles and not seeing the value in a well made, quality candle. It seems these days a lot of products are losing their lure because of cheap chinese imports. At least though, there are still some who have good taste:) so go and see that shop owner and get your product on the shelves!
  13. Seems to be the right wick to me. burn to the bottom and see, but it looks like it is the perfect size
