  1. I tossed around with the idea of boxes for my pillars, like frontier packaging, but people can't smell them and my Retailers would hate to have them opening the box and taking out the candle as they would be far more prone to damage. I would appreciate any ideas too for my pillars, I also have pyramids which are very awkward
  2. I've only used LX 12 in my palm votive jars and they are far too small, get hardly any burn pool. Use LX 16 now and they just do it. I get mine from Candlewic
  3. I find that FO in palm can be quite awful, eg Garden Path, I love the smell in my parrafin but not in my palm pillars. You have to test what works best for each I guess
  4. Hi everyone Thanks for your feedback, I will definately buy from them. I won't go the Ebay route as I live out of the USA.
  5. Has anyone had dealings with these people www.yourorganzabag.com ? Their shipping prices are fantastic as there is a small fee no matter how much you order and their prices are quite low. Please let me know if you have bought from them or if you know of them. I am on the other side of the world.:undecided
  6. Thanks all for your help, I now have many ideas to try
  7. Stupid question but I am not very familiar with your metric system, could you tell me what percentage 1oz per pound is, please.
  8. Aah you did say every 2 pound of wax, not oz. Now that makes more sense. I hope you are not making 1 votive at a time? You need to mix up more wax and FO and pour a few votives at a time. work out the amounts of wax, FO etc you need for 1 and then apply it to the amount you will be doing, this might help once you have the correct figures for more candles.
  9. lovely as always. Don't you find that it is much different to do rustics with the fluted moulds?
  10. I live in New Zealand, Christchurch, so I'm still a wee way from you. I have to source my stuff from Aus if I am in a hurry but it is definately cheaper in the states
  11. That seems a very small amount of FO? Are you sure you didn't mean 15ml?
  12. I wish we had what the Americans had too, choices, choices and not having to ship products so far!!! You could try Candlelight company and use their black colour block (These are Candlewic stock) I found they work well too.
  13. Aussie Candle Supplies have excellent liquid dyes, they do have a strong smell but this goes once you have made the candle.
  14. Candlewics liquid dyes are great, although there are some very weak ones. The white tends to settle to the bottom and even when you have stirred thoroughly, when you pour the last bit out it is much more concentrated.
  15. Hi everyone I would appreciate any help on this one, please. I have always made candles with moulds already wicked up, but recently I bought some moulds that require a wick pin. I can put my own wicks in afterwards, BUT they don't stay in the candle!!! I just have to pull on them slightly and they come right out. I seal the bottom of the candle, but as I put my label tag around the wick, I know my customers are going to pull the wick out when they pull off the label and this is not a good look.:undecided
  16. When a company sells a food product, they have to list that it contains soy, if it has soy traces of any sort. The reason is that some people are allergic to soy like they would be peanuts and it can be quite serious. I don't know how this applies to soy wax? I agree that beeswax would be the best natural alternative, not the cheapest, but you get a natural fragrance and the wax is lovely as any candle.
  17. I buy plastic pour pots and when the wax is hard, I squeese slightly and most, if not all the wax cracks and comes out.
  18. Wow Satin, you sure have a field of shrooms!!!
  19. Thanks for the tips. I'm really sad about the poly moulds:sad2: I love the shapes they come in, this is not good news for me, I have heaps of them. I live in NZ so don't know the products such as goo-gone etc, thanks anyway. I might try some nail polish remover in an old mould and let you know.
  20. Can anyone help, please. I have made rustics in polycarbonate moulds and they leave so much colour and frosting behind, I have tried the heat gun but don't want to do it for too long in case I melt the mold!!! (it has happened before) I tried to get mold cleaner from Candlewic but they can't ship it internationally. Thanks
  21. Strange as it sounds, I use straight Palm pillar or pillar paraffin and mould release is no problem, but if I put the 2 together in a 20% paraffin and 80% palm I have serious problems with getting the candle out of the mould even after putting in the freezer and using mould release!!!! This is a complete mystery to me:confused:
  22. I have used Palm 1 and Palm 2 from Candlewic and the crystal formations are lovely, really nice wax. It is not in the raw form you are looking for but I really like it.
  23. I have just tried the Palm 2 from Candlewic for pillars/votives and it is wonderful. I even made some in polycarbonate molds and they came out great.
