  1. BCN's pina colada is great! mixing the BNL coconut bay and pineapple cilantro is really good too.
  2. i haven't posted a pic in a long time! here's what i've been working on. i wouldn't do it normally, but peeps out here have been asking for primitive. the pic makes them look shiny, butthey are actually more matte.
  3. the manufacturer of the oil will inform the supplier at what percentage, or none that an fo is skin safe, and for what application( ie. soap(washes off) or lotion( sinks into skin). different chemicals make up different fo's and some are not safe for B&B application. any reputable supplier will tell you this.
  4. maybe something like this would work? http://www.infinitystamps.com/handstamps.html
  5. it's in all my local grocery stores. looks like this: http://www.sugarintheraw.com/html/nutritionfacts/bulk.html
  6. you can pour your votive wax directly in the cups. if they are the super snug ones, the wicking shouldn't have to change. but if there is a bit of a gap between the votive and the cup normally, then you might have to play with wicking. just make sure to test.
  7. BCN's chocolate brownie in the closeouts, i could eat that right out of the bottle, but in wax, it smells as good as i want it to taste.
  8. talk about effort! that had to be time consuming! i think it looks great!
  9. for my baby shower they had little favors at each table seting that was a pacifier made from 2 lifesavers and a jelly bean. with white frosting, glue one lifesaver edge to one lifesaver in the middle, so it sits like a T, then glue a jelly bean on the other side of the . string a little ribbon through and you can wear as a necklace or just tie a bow. they had a watermelon that was cut like a baby carriage and black construction paper wheels attached with pipe cleaners. it was filled with fruit salad. we did the "find the safety pins in the rice, blindfolded" game, and the best one was who could cloth diaper a doll with mittens on, the fastest! have every one self address a thank you card envelope( saves the mom to be from doing it later) and do a drawing for a door prize. my sister just did that at her bridal shower.
  10. the BNL coconut bay at BCN is supposed to be like theirs
  11. i used my little coffee bean grinder to grind it into a coarse powder. then sprinkled whole buds on top. here's how it looks after. no black, just a natural brown look.
  12. i toss the chips in with the wax to melt together. you need to add your fo at a much higher temp to fully incorporate it with the wax. i add fo at 170-175*
  13. first make sure you have the right size wick to start with. add the fo around 170-180*. you aren't going to weaken the strength of the fo. that only happens if you mix it, then keep it at a high temp for a long period of time, or reheat it too many times. we did a side by side comparison with adding fo at the manufacturer's recommended temp. which i think was 120* and adding at 170-175*. we found the latter had a stronger hot throw. concluding that adding the fo at the lower temp doesn't allow the fo to fully mix and bind with the wax; thus the lighter hot throw results. 1 oz per pound will definitely be enough for fo's that have been added over the last 3 or so years, but a few prior to BC using soy, aren't great throwers. a lot are tho. every nose is different and you might find you prefer to use 1.5 oz per pound. it's preference. next, to get smooth as possible tops, let cool to right about 100*, then pour. ez-soy shows it's best potential if you let it cure a couple of weeks, but there several that threw really well after a few days to a week. make sure you let your testers cure well and that you are testing the candle in an appropriate sized room. and burning the right amount of time. oh and it can be very easy to get candlemaker's nose if you have been pouring quite a bit. hth!
  14. it would just burn off at the flame.
  15. the turpenes in citrus and mints tend to give off a fuel or kerosene scent when burning. some noses are more sensitive to it than others. sometimes adding a bit of vanilla can help.
  16. heee, they were right about how DF blooms after it sits...i love burning my 2 wick 16 oz'er, even with struggling wicks( the one that made me realize i had to wick up) i can only burn it for so long cuz it's strong! but i so love that scent! glad you're lovin it too...how is the other one? i never got a sample...but i do have some others if you're curious about them. the burt's bee's baby buttermilk is lovely in cp, but i have yet to get it in wax.
  17. mine turned cloudy in the bottom 3rd too and it was from WSP. i tried it, but after a couple months, my M&P soaps went caramel color on me anyways, so i quit using it.
  18. i can't remember who it was (thank you) but he recommended i wick up and it worked great! i have also heard that over dipping in beeswax or a high mp wax helps, but i would think you risk getting bubbles.
  19. BCN's discolors cp and bath bombs/ salts to a tan, but it didn't turn in shower gel, lotion or whipped butter. hth!
  20. BCN hot cocoa if you don't mind a little marshmallow their chocolate brownie in the closeouts is scrumptious! their hershey's chocolate is good, but reminds me slightly of baker's chocolate and BCS has a divine white chocolate
  21. a votive should be burned in a snug holder, so the melt pool won't run down the sides...you want it to liquify as it burns down. you won't get much burn time if it's on a plate or in a holder that's too big.
  22. it is the net weight of the candle itself, not the packaging it's in. i also list the weight in grams... net wt xx/xx grams
  23. here's what's burning at my house... bed room - BCN cedar & saffron living room - BCN sugar cane tv room - BCN caramel walnut
