  1. Try calling GenWax, they sometimes still have items in the outlet store that they no longer show online...or sometimes they are only in their closeout section online.
  2. Not sure I'd be brave enough to even try a fo called Monkey Farts...
  3. I think your better finding a supplier close by than to look to save $1 or 2 on wax...shipping is killing all of us!
  4. If you're talking paraffin, you can get them at Big Lots or sometimes in the 99 cent stores
  5. Stopped coloring after 2 months of testing...much happier now! Tried the coconut oil, but in C-3 I don't think it makes a big enough difference to warrant the extra step. I did like the addition of CO in Ecosoya ACB. Other than that trial...no additives. As stated in another reply, vanilla and orange slightly alter the color, but still creamy. One fo I have turns wax grey on burning, but its the fo for sure.
  6. Lone Star carries a master wick sampler pack...which has a few of every wick they carry, wish I knew about it before I bought a zillion wicks. I would have definitely bought it to test them all...who am I kidding, I still might buy it!
  7. Maybe we should all post a wick exchange in the classified section of this forum! Sounds like we all have tons that we don't even use. I'm so glad I'm not the only one.
  8. I've actually had pretty good luck with HTP wicks (were recommended by one supplier, actually this is what came in the kit I bought before I started out.) I'm just now testing CDN wicks...so far...pretty good...not finished testing. LX wicks burn wonderfully, but leave behind droppings, sometimes soot and they shroom). Maybe someone else will pipe in with what works for them in C-3:yay:
  9. I use C-3 wax and have tried tons of wicks...IMHO the ECO's do not perform the best, but the are "all natural" and if that's what your going for, work thru the problems. Every supplier has their own opinion that they recommend...try different wick guides and you'll get a different answer!! Supplier info is a good start, but the only way you'll know what you like best is to try others that have been suggested here. Most suppliers have wick samplers so you can order a pkg that contains a few of all the sizes of a particular brand before buying a zillion of them!! HTH
  10. Forgot to ask...how long are you leaving the wick...too big of a flame will cause the bubbles also.
  11. Doesn't sound like you overwicked at all. I actually used an ECO 14 in a 3" container (square) and didn't get the bubbles, but they have appeared before when I overwicked. Aside from these bubbles, how are the ECO wicks performing for you in C-3? Are they smoking at all?
  12. Who sells Tomato leaf fo? and does it smell good?
  13. What size container and which ECO wick? It sounds almost like its burning too hot.
  14. The fact that there is a company out there actually selling olive oil blend wax, makes me think it will be ok. I only added 1/2 oz to a # with no fo, but I would probably cut it down even more, same as coconut oil...1/4 oz or maybe even just a teaspoon per # of wax. Then I can still add my fo at the same ratio. It obviously is going to take months before I find out if these "spoil" or ruin the fragrance over time....back to the test kitchen!
  15. Can't take credit for this one...my friend has an olive ranch and produces oil...it was her suggestion
  16. Ok, Sharon, I thought I was the only nut who kept all those little (and big) wick pieces...what are we thinking? Will we ever actually add tabs to any of them? I have used a few in shallow candles when testing (you know yank out the one that's not working and shove in a piece!)
  17. Ok, I burned it probably 8 hours so far...since it doesn't have a scent, I don't have the incentive to burn it. I'm going to buy some rosemary fo to add to my next try. The candle is burning slower than without the olive oil (4 hours more like a 3 hour burn without) I used EVOO because that is what I had in the house...but I think any would work the same and I'm going to try the cheap stuff next time! Since my try one of the ladies posted "Accu Blend" as a company that makes coconut oil wax, and when I checked them out, they also have an olive oil blend!!) So my friends idea wasn't actually new to the industry. Sorry I can't give you too much more info at this time. I am going to make a line of olive oil for my friend to carry in her store.
  18. Many times if you call a supplier they are more than willing to send USPS. Most choose UPS on the websites because of tracking and insurance.
  19. Sorry, no advice...just WELCOME ABOARD! You have entered into the best resource ever for chandlers.
  20. Stella, Thanks for another very helpful hint. I made 3 candles yesterday using ammonia instead of dish soap and all 3 have perfect adhesion. You are just the BEST!
  21. Before I started, I went to the library and took out every candle making book they had (which I think was a whopping 3). It gave me insight to what tools and I would need and some basic instruction. It's hard to find soy candle making books, but this site is your best resource.
  22. I got mine from Just by Nature, but I think I've seen them in other web stores...could be my imagination...have fo brain...
  23. Never tried CD's, but I just tried CDN's and they don't leave the sooty mess that the LX's do. I found I had to wick up with the CDN's...one size larger than they state...Good Luck! Perfect MP, No Soot...No Shrooms....
  24. Toni, I'm with you on the heat gun, but I have to say...since I started adding the coconut oil, the tops smooth right out after I zap them with the gun. It's a little bit harder to control the heat than the micro torch and the results are about the same for me. HTH Anita
