  1. Thanks so much, I appreciate the feedback...I've made some really bad mixes...so I really hesitated this time to just try it...I'm going for it. I thought I read a post somewhere that 415 doesn't mix well with anything, but couldn't find the post again, probably was a different wax.
  2. Munch, Have you tried mixing 415 and C-3???? I posted this morning wanting to know if anyone has tried these two together.
  3. I've searched and searched this forum and can't quite find what I'm looking for. Wondering if anyone has mixed 2 different soy waxes together for container candles. Right now I have 415 and C-3. After using Ecosoya ACB for a couple of months, I got spoiled with the hot throw...C-3 just isn't up there. I'd use the EACB all the time, but it is soooo dang expensive. I'm going to try UA in C-3 when my order arrives, but would like to know if anyone has tried mixing container waxes?????? I'm tired of waiting for UPS to deliver...looks like it might be a couple more days.
  4. Munch, I'd be thrilled if all my candles left was wax residue!!! I think I'd be done testing...at least for a week.
  5. In my pre-candle making job, I had warehouse supervision and YES, Business to Business UPS is cheaper than residential...always has been as far back as I can remember (which by the way is usually yesterday!) USPS flat rate can sometimes beat out UPS charges. USPS definitely is worth it for pkgs under 1# as UPS has that minimum charge.
  6. You'd think I'd have bought the 50 pkg...NOOOOO...I bought 200 of the dang 105's!!! I'm running out of space for wicks...shouldn't it be wax that I don't have space for?? One of these days, I'll think rationally!
  7. Those 4" jars are a real PITA to wick...I have to double wick in them unless I want the towering inferno and shrooms the size of manhattan! The bigger LX's work, but the results...fugly!! I'm going through the same frustration with a 3" square...can get it down in a heartbeat with LX wicks, but they leave a mess in the wax...I just bought some HTP 105's hope they don't leave a mess.
  8. Has anyone tried to mix straight soy container blend with a pillar blend to make tarts or melts? I've been using votive blend and it works good...but I'm out and have some container wax that is bottom of the box and ugly in containers...time to remelt and use it for something!
  9. Have you checked thru Vicky's thread at the top of the Veg Wax Forum? It has really helped me in choosing fragrances for soy. You can still shop for price, but I do it within the listing pretty much of the time...or by what others recommend in posts.
  10. I bought some molds, new and used, and also fo's...but never wax. Also have purchased lots of non-candle products. Everything I got so far was pretty good. If you pay with PayPal you're pretty much protected against fraud...they will get your $$ back if not satisfied. Ebay doesn't mess around either, they kick off the bad sellers.
  11. Here's another that the website states they have it http://www.conniescandles.com
  12. sorry with that link it's hard to find...here is the direct link. http://addy.com/brinkley/366.htm
  13. This place let's you put it in a cart...hopefully that means they have it. http://addy.com/brinkley/index.html
  14. Gen Wax has new people there every time I go in...so I'm not surprised at all that they never heard of it...said they never heard of Basil either and I've bought it there! I'm still looking for both of us!
  15. Kudos to you for starting your business while you are still working full time ++. It's a hard thing to do...be proud of yourself! I waited until I semi-retired (that's a retired person who doesn't get retirement yet!)...foolish...no money and big dreams!! Around here, there is usually a hand made soap vendor at the farmer's markets...just a thought of another place you might try. Many of them don't make you commit to long term, you can do 1 day or the whole season.
  16. Does Monkey Farts smell like Bananas? I know stupid question...but it's the first thing that came to my feeble mind!
  17. I went to Gen Wax this morning and they didn't have any in the outlet store either. They also quit carrying the Olive and also the Basil scents...1/2 the reason I went was to pick up fragrance and most of them were either not carried anymore or out of stock on the size I wanted. Oh well...if I come across it in my search for Basil and Olive I will let you know where I see it.
  18. I'm having a tough time finding someone to quote me on liability insurance in AZ...anyone out there willing to share a company name?
  19. Just bought some of the EL Millenium wax...not arrived yet, but what I wanted to find out is what you're sticking your wicks with...if you're pouring right after mixing, you wax has to still be around 170...my wicks would all float, they just don't hold at those high temps.
  20. I didn't have much luck with this wax for melts. I think it's just too soft. Comes out good and melts quickly, but doesn't package or ship well...too low melt point I think?
  21. I had that ugly ring on 1 candle after burning...I used Ecosoya ACB...doesn't make sense because the others from the same batch didn't do it...all wicked the same?? I also used 1 teaspoon pp.
  22. My 8 oz tins cost me right around $2.00 including shipping charges...when I pick up wax...a little less. Tins easily sell for $5-8 depending on size around here...can't imagine only making 75 cents...think I would only be making candles for myself and my family.
  23. They aren't the brightest crayons in the box...I'm going to the outlet store next week and I'll look to see if they have any. If you find it in the meantime, pm me.
  24. Forgot totally about the ice cube trick...sometimes that takes it all out and you don't even have to use the iron! Since I've switched to Soy candles, I don't have that wax problem anymore. The soy washes right out with soap and water:D
  25. If it's paraffin, your best bet is to let it harden...scrape off whatever will come off and then put down a terry towel and a hot iron on top of it. The heat will usually pull the wax into the towel. You may however have a color stain if the wax is dark.
