  1. I have a couple of fo's that when I wick them to burn properly I get some soot on the glass...I'm still testing wicks in these, but I'm just about at the end and still soot. One in particular, everyone loves the fo, so they put up with the mess. I do tell people ahead of time that the candle will produce soot and the wick will mushroom (if you don't keep it trimmed.)
  2. What size HTP are you looking for? I will gladly send you a few to try...I've got almost every size. I don't have experience with this wax, so I can't help you there.
  3. Well I can relate to the shipping issue...I usually pick mine up although I've found that unless I need a lot of stuff, it's cheaper to have it shipped (with gas prices here over $3 a gallon.)
  4. GenWax has a 7 oz, 10 oz and 14 oz round frosted tumbler. They also have a 9 oz square frosted (out of stock right now!) and a 2.5 oz square frosted tumbler. The glass is a good quality and very smooth feeling. There prices are reasonable and they have a plastic lid to fit each tumbler except the 2.5 oz.
  5. It is more addictive than I ever thought possible. Before I started, I thought I would try it...probably last a month...maybe two...yeah right. Now I'm either pouring, testing, buying candle supplies or on this forum. I love it!!! Thought about trying Bath & Body, but that could start a whole new addiction.
  6. Thanks eveyone...I think I have a few CDN 8's that I will try before I buy more wicks!
  7. Don't have small LX's or CD's...may have a few CDN's from a sample pack...and I'm sure I have small HTP's because I tried those and didn't like them in the shotglass. I don't hate the 44C but it does burn hot if you let it burn long.
  8. I've seen them in baskets, sort of oblong shape so the 3 candles just fit. I think you might be able to purchase just the baskets at Michael's or another craft type store if you are in the US.
  9. What an interesting site...even has Shaklee products! I guess if you have the creativity your mind will lead you to do these unique things. I don't think I have it!! Never saw anything like that money candle before. Oh...go into candlemaking supplies on that site and read his story!
  10. I've been wicking my soy candle shots with 44C's (basically a votive wick) and while I'm not realy picky on these, I noticed the other day when I burned it for 3 hours straight that the glass got pretty hot. Is it possible to get a good burn without a hot glass in the shot glasses? I think these are about 1.5- 2.0 oz glasses and they do taper at the bottom and 1" diam. I use these as tasters...or should I call them smellers? Somebody might try to eat them...oh no, better call the insurance man!
  11. You're blowing my diet here...you're cake and cupcakes look so darn real makes me crave them...my mouth is watering!!
  12. Very Classy!! Those would sell in high end spas in the US for $60.00 easily.
  13. Beautiful...makes me want to try.
  14. Sydnee, I use an Eco12 in a 3 1/4" straight sided container with C3 and it works pretty good. You may still get a small amount of smoking depending on the FO. The first burn (3-4 hr) doesn't always reach the sides, but the 2nd burn usually will...again a lot depends on the FO used. I always use 1 oz pp...sometimes a tiny bit more if it's a light FO or tiny bit less for a heavy FO.
  15. Honeyb I didn't notice where you were from until today. I'm in CA and the past week or a little more candles have been coming out terrible. I've had to really heat gun most of them and a few total remelts. It must be either the humidity, heat or barometric pressure...something is in the air that the candles are not liking. It cooled down a bit yesterday and doesn't seem so sticky so I might try to pour again today and see if there is a difference. Wouldn't Creme Brulee look great if that happened!!
  16. For sure if you are just starting out, those jelly jars are available at most food chains, walmart, hardware stores...then no shipping. You can also check at thrift stores if you want a variety to play around with...yard sales also.
  17. Thanks Stella! I shipped some to Illinois last week and one batch got there fine...the other sat on a porch for ??? and they began to melt, hence my concern. I guess I need to inform buyers that the candles WILL melt if left outside in the heat for any period of time and I can't be responsible for that. As is I give them ship dates, tracking info and approx del date on the day I ship. Luckily I'm only selling to friends and family right now...they are very understanding
  18. Mike, I did a little research and it looks like the CSN wicks are the same or about the same as the CDN wicks. You might look to see if they come in a bigger size...Stella might chime in here...she uses CDN's and she would probably know the answer to this.
  19. Thanks Mike, I will try it. I'm so tired of wasting wax by doing mixes that really don't work!
  20. This happened all the time to me with C3 and colors, so for the most part, I don't use color anymore. Sometimes they came out beautiful and sometimes splotchy...some even did this more so after they cured???? Several different batches of wax also so I couldn't attribute it to the variance in batches. I think it looks good in the brown wax, you got that starburst effect!!
  21. Thanks for sharing your final results. Doesn't it feel great to finally have it resolved! Good for you. I've been pretty happy with the 62C in these tumblers, or should I say it's been the best burn so far? I didn't try any CD wicks. I'm still hoping my square jars come in so I don't have to keep using these buggers.
  22. Thanks for the info, I didn't get in touch with anyone today, but could be because of the holiday...I'll try again on Thursday. I'm hoping shipping will be better than CS because they are closer.
  23. You can also get silicone ice cube trays from Ikea in several different shapes...I think they were $1.99 each tray and had from 6-12 cavities in each....they work great for tarts/melts...wax pops right out without using any release sprays.
  24. Didn't the wick sticker hold it in place? Can you hot glue or sticker them back down? Haven't worked with this wax yet but I'm thinking the entire glass with no adhesion probably looks better than wet spots??
  25. Has anyone tried Morris Wax for Glas Glow? I can't seem to get an answer on the phone, but I'll keep trying. Wondering if they have a minimum order?
