  1. There's no air, no draft and it's a container candle. Why does my flame jump around so much? I set a little votive candle next to it and lit and flame was perfectly still while my container candle flame was playing jumprope! Can someone unravel this mystery for me. My flame on all my testers seem to jump around alot. Using Ecosoya Pure CB and ECO wicks. Any insight you all may have would be great. Thanks! Munch
  2. Boy you got that right Stella bout some good marketing agents saying they are natural or pure.....I did find an interesting "all natural" article/viewpoint doing resesarch and attached if any of you get interested and want to read. Definately made me go ...hmmmmm http://allnaturalbeauty.us/ani3.htm
  3. Thanks again...good info and I really appreciate it. I searched for defintions on what it means to be a "natural" candle and any requirements associated with that but either I'm not searching right or the only requirement is your own conscious definition. Which I want to label correctly and honestly. Thanks for all your responses. :smiley2:
  4. Yeah, silly question so I appreciate all your responses. I just got to thinking last night after all my testing and now thinking about adding beeswax I'm not 100% pure soy anymore. How can I even call it an all natural candle if I'm using Fragrance oil that has been chemically created??? Have I been inhaling too many fumes???
  5. Can I call a candle "100% Soy" if I add beeswax to it? Thanks! Munch
  6. FO's I've tested and fantastic: Med sea salt Lime Sugar Supreme Rarotongan Mist Ol' South Pumpkin Pie (no pumpkin I could smell in this but a fantastic soft sweet, creamy cinnamon if that makes any sense Haven't poured the the summer strawberry yet but smells scrumptious OOB. Getting ready to order sampler so good do know what you all like too. Love her FO's so far and they throw in Pure Soy!
  7. Thank you SO much HenryK for a reply...Totally agree with it catching up as it burns down. I want my candles to burn all the way out to the edge. I had another bummer of HT experience this afternoon but perfect burn pool and fantastic flame. So will test the theory and redo this candle with a smaller wick to see if it changes anything. Appreciate it!
  8. Can I wick up too much to where the wick is too big and then I don't have a Hot throw? I've been wicking up to get the full burn pool and one of my candles had a smaller wick in it which left about 1/4 inch on the sides and threw great once lit. The full burn pools on most are not giving a hot throw for various reasons but that sparked the question. If I wick down, even if I don't get a full burn will that help my Hot throw? Curious to see if anyone had any opinions on that.
  9. I am pretty new to this also and have been testing since beginning of this year in Ecosoya Pure. You took the words right out of my mouth when you started this thread. Frustrations in Strong CT and once I lit, absolutely nothing for Hot throw. Since you're using GB415, which I just ordered since CS doesn't offer Ecosoya Pure anymore, I wonder if it's just a Pure Soy thing. I ordered C3 to test that too now. I have tried most wicks CD, LX, RRD, HTP, ECO, CSN -. I have an 8 oz, 2.5" diameter jar and my best performer has been the ECO series. ECO12-14, LX30 and HTP1212-1312 would give me full burn pools BUT, LX mushrooms so bad and HTP smoked so much and mushroomed with real hot glow after I blew it out. ECO12 has been my baseline now in the Ecosoya. Just recently tested the CD wick series after about the 60th test burn threw absolutely NO scent and the wonderful people on this board said try and different wick. But it didn't seem to improve the hot throw and the flame would consistently get smaller no matter what size I used at the 2 1/2 hr mark and I tested from CD14 to CD22s! So, now I'm back to the ECO wick. I had changed up my heat wax temp to 160, cool to 140 and then pour immediately to see if that helped. Not really. Then I called Candlescience this week and customer support said they recommend heating wax to 180, take off the heat, immediately add FO to bind to wax and stir gently for 1-2 min. THen pour at desired pour temp. That's what I was doing before. So, I can empathize with everyone's frustration and I personally am thinking that maybe it's just the FO's that aren't compatible with the wax and you just have to keep trying until you find one that binds. I can tell you that the 3 FO I have tested from Oregon Trail have had a wonderful Hot throw:). Candlescience mistletoe was great. I definatly don't have the experience as most on this board but wanted to pass along any info that might help or maybe spark an idea to try.
  10. Thanks for looking out for me but I can get cheaper, shipping price included below from WSP. 19.90 10lb 71.34 50lb
  11. Thanks CB...I will adjust pour temp back to 125 and see if that helps. Candlescience is great and that's where I was getting the wax but did a cost analysis and found that Wholesale Supplies Plus is a little bit cheaper. But will see what CS has to say. Appreciate the research and all the feedback:highfive: Will be testing more of the CS fragrances I got and just got my Greenleaf Sampler in. Christmas Buttered Rum and Honey Graham Crackers may be in the next pour too.
  12. CB - Thank you SO much for replying. I am adding my FO at 160. I totally redid my thinking from heating to 185 adding FO at 180 and pouring at 125 cause NOTHING was throwing on the test burns no matter how strong the cold throw was. So now I'm heating to 170, adding FO in at 160 and pouring right after I mix and changed the wicks to CD. I'm letting them cure for atleast two days. The cold throw on all of these was strong. I read something about flashing the fragrance if you add it in too high and not to add FO until right before you pour so I'm desperate to change things to try and get 1 candle to throw when lit! The Blueberry Cobbler w/the CD18 last night didn't create full burn and candle flame got smaller with barely a throw in the bathroom. Mistletoe has the CD16 in it and while it seemed to actually throw weak-med in the bedroom...flame got smaller too. I'm going to beef it up to the CD22...I'm desperate! If you have any other ideas...let me know
  13. Candlebuddy, I poured Hansel & Gretel in Ecosoya Pure at 8% in 8 oz jar. Diameter is 2.5. Cold throw great - hot throw weak to med. Used CD14 and made almost a full burn pool but 2nd burn tunneled. Is it cause I'm using pure soy that I have to wick up so much? Any insight or advice? Poured the CS Blueberry Cobbler (CD18) and Mistletoe (CD16) on Saturday and cold throw is fantastic but that hasn't been my problem-It's been the hot throw. Hopefully the change to CD wicks will make a difference. Was using ECO. Will test burn tonight.
  14. Haven't tried in paraffin but here it is in Pure Soy: Mediterranean Sea Salt- Strong cold and hot throw in her Spa Fragrance Line. Just smells clean with nothing overpowering. Rarotongan Mist- haven't test burned yet. Strong Cold throw with Beautiful, clean scent with a soft powdery floral undertone if that makes any sense. Lime Sugar Supreme- No test burn yet but again- great. Perfect balance of Lime and Sweetness. Great Cold Throw Ol'South Pumpkin Pie- Don't smell any pumpkin in this, only cinnamon/spice. Medium cold throw and didn't throw at all when burned BUT that couldn't been a wick issue so will try again. Beautiful smell but just not Pumpkin Pie. I can tell you that these four have smelled exactly the same OOB as in the wax which and it was good. Yes, had an issue on one of my orders waiting awhile and my second order got to my house before the first but Suz was very helpful and threw in the Lime Sugar which was nice and so far all of them have definately been worth the wait. Talk about a clean burn. Will definately be ordering from her again despite the wait time. SO worth it!
  15. So, it wasn't just my nose aboute the Pumpkin Souffle...It smelled burnt to me too.
