  1. Well, I guess I'm the one who's alone on this one!! I don't use color anymore in soy, but I'd still like to find out why one or two candles out of a batch did this? These are pretty old candles, probably 6-9 months sitting. Anyway, hopefully someone here can help you out!
  2. I think it looks really good too. Like the color combo.
  3. Ok, finally...here is the pic...thought it might be the tins, but it's happening on a couple of the glass containers also. It's harder to see in the yellow and the purple one has grown since I last checked it...it was a small circle and now it's huge! pretty soon the whole candle will be white.
  4. Found this place, looks like they have some heavy duty. I can't get the lists to download, I think my version of Adobe is newer than theirs so the shapes won't load. Looks like they have some really cute shapes in small sizes. My husband just told me that Pearl Arts & Crafts has a bunch of custom punches which I didn't see when I was there. I guess I should get some glasses along with the hearing aid!!! http://www.holepunchworld.com/doorway/holepunchworld.cfm?CFID=375689&CFTOKEN=46018173
  5. Thanks, I didn't think that the leather punch would make a clean cut in cardstock. I'll try it now.
  6. You can also get it in smaller bags if you want at Let it Shine. www.letitshineusa.com
  7. Looking for a very small single hole punch...would like a design (heart/star/square), but just a circle will do. All the ones I find are make too big of a hole. I've looked in scrapbooking areas of the stores, but can't find anything.
  8. They look great! I love the hang tags...but my partner likes the clear labels...we do both (but I don't hang them on the ones with labels just insert under the lid.)
  9. You can ladle it out, and be sure the container you put it into has been warmed up or your wax will cool too quickly (learned that one the hard way!)
  10. Yes, tried them all, seemed to burn one side more than the other because of the curl in the wick...even tried trimming wick during the burn to see if that would help. It's just the larger diam containers with a straight wall that it didn't work in. Tried compensating for the wick curl...and then it curled the same way I compensated so it was even worse. It's probably something I'm doing. I did get 2 CDN's to work in the container (can't remember now what size I used, don't really want to have to use 2.) They work great in my 2" container, 1" container and my shot glasses, so I'm using them there. The cottons are working pretty good and I'll be burning one with a CD in it tomorrow, so I'll see how that goes. I may end up trying the CDN in the palm if the CD's don't work in it.
  11. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. My container is a little over 3" square and I couldn't get a CDN to work well in it with soy wax, so I think it would be even worse with Palm...but I don't know for sure because this is my first attempt at Palm wax. The CDN's work great in smaller diam containers I have...but these 3" round and square are tough to wick. The cotton wicks are working best in soy, but I doubt they will work in palm. I will probably try them at some point, but I started my testing with CD's in the palm and I'll see how it goes.
  12. Suzanne, Do you use Glass Glow? Just curious as to what temp you do your 2nd pour at? I haven't done it yet as I've been looking for info on how you reheat the colored/frag wax and at what temp to repour.
  13. I made my first palm containers yesterday (Glass Glow, IGI 2322). I heated my oven to 150 and kept my glass in there until ready to pour, poured at 190-195 turned off the oven and put the candles in there to cool...so they cooled really slow. They crystallized beautifully, but there were air pockets, I think it's hard to avoid in this wax (heck I get them in soy so maybe it's me!) Unfortunately I waited until they cooled to poke my holes and it was hard to do. I haven't done a repour yet, but I did heat gun one of the small containers just to see and it changed the look of the top 1/4" of the candle and I only melted a very thin layer on top. I can see that this wax is not as forgiving as soy, but boy the look of it and SMELL of the candles really make it worth the effort. I only used 1.3 oz of frag in 2 # of wax...it smells stronger CT than the soy candles I poured the day before using 1 oz in 1#. Can't wait to try to burn them....I know I have to wait a week...darn!
  14. Congrats!! Doesn't it feel great to look at them and know you made it? Your family will love being your testers...mine does!! After breaking several glass therms, I moved on to metal! I drop them all the time. I think mine cost approx $8.00 and it has a screw to calibrate it when it gets dropped and may need adjustments. I got mine at Sur la Table, but I saw the same one at Wal Mart!!! Have fun with your new venture.
  15. My son knows how to do the pics so when he gets home I'll have him take a pic of one of the colored candles that did this and hopefully you will be able to see if it's the same thing. Not that I can tell you what caused it...but at least you'll know you're not alone!!
  16. Can you post a pic...I know it would probably hard to see in the undyed candle.
  17. Not on mine...noticed it when I was showing candles to someone...opened up a few that had it. All stored the same. Weird...but then I'm finding that natural wax is weird...I love it...but it's weird! Playing with Glass Glow today...what a mess that stuff is!
  18. What I experienced wasn't a change in the color so much as a white ring around the edges of the candle right next to the glass. If my camera was here, I'd take a pic and attempt to post it...maybe later today the DH will come home with the camera!
  19. If it looks like a white ring around the edges, I've had the same thing happen with C3 wax...mfg says it needs the UV additive even if it is not dyed. Mine aren't even in artificial light so I don't know how light is affecting them. Oh, and it only happened on some of the candles from the same batch...explain that one!
  20. Thanks for the link Stella, I think I'm going to try a CD 20 first. Look like it might work according to the chart on that link. The container is just a tad over 3" square. I just won't make too many....even though I'm itching to make a bunch of colors in this wax!!
  21. I know this is somewhere in the threads, but after reading thru everything that came up in a search, couldn't find it. I thought someone said the CD wicks work well with Glass Glow????????? I bought the 2nd Presto Pot so I could keep my Palm wax in it...now I want to test, but couldn't remember where I saw info about the CD wicks and this wax...hmmmm...maybe it wasn't this forum? I'm losing my mind, at least I still laugh! Well, if it was...please let me know if these wicks work in this wax. Also where do you find better instructions than IGI gives you and wick suggestions (other than CS.)
  22. I contacted a couple of candle mfgs who were using lids that I liked...didn't tell them what I wanted it for, but the ones I called said they had their lids custom made. This may be the case here also. If you contact them, they MAY tell you something...at least that they won't divulge their supplier!
  23. The frosted and clear containers that they carry now are a very heavy, nice quality glass. I use them all the time and have never had one crack or break from burning candles. GW also makes candles using all of their containers, so maybe they changed since you bought? I don't live too far, but I ordered on Thursday morning and had my order yesterday, I was pretty surprised it came so quickly. Shipping long distances is very costly, especially for heavy glass.
