  1. I'm going to test Spruce Christmas Tree and Cappacino Hazelnut finally. Been trying to find time to try these all summer! Oh, and I order a sample 16oz apothecary, so I will try to see if I can wick that right or not also!
  2. Do you think that these hold scent longer than the beads? I've been considering trying them, but don't want to spend the money if it isn't worth it (i know they don't cost much, but still trying to cut back on spending).
  3. Is this just straight Mango or Mango Papaya?
  4. Hmm...OK...I think you guys have convinced me to at least try it! I do have some 1343 wax at home that I tried once for some reason (can't remember what I used it for), just need to get me a mold now!
  5. How hard are these really? They look way to involved for my attention level, but I think they are so pretty and want to try to make one. Do they sell very well? One thing I did notice at the craft fair last weekend was that ALL of the candle vendors except for one had only containers. The one that did have pillars were chunky pillars, but noone was buying them. Is this really worth the trouble of learning? You all make some BEAUTIFUL ones and have inspired me to try it. I also like the hurricanes, but don't want to jump to soon. Any advice would be great!
  6. Thanks for the encouragement Kim...it would be hard if they were in the same town! Geesh...hopefully you will take away all their business, then you can move into there warehouse!!! I personally wasn't all that impressed with what I saw, and the one I have smelled burning before wasn't that impressive either. So, I wonder what the big deal is then?
  7. From the looks of the candles I saw, I think they are soy. In the picture they have attached to their display, it shows someone with hundreds of jars in front of them and they are pouring wax. They must have a lot of workers because, like you noticed, they have like 95 scents or something and they had LOTS of every scent with them.
  8. Congrats! After doing my first show last weekend, I know how hard it is to sell, so good job!
  9. OMG...this happened! No joke, at least twice! They were smelling away and I thought I was going to have a for sure sale, because they were even commenting "Oh, this smells good enough to eat" and "What is that smell? It is wonderful?" Then, the question of "Is this soy?" came about and they vanished. At least its not just me:cheesy2:
  10. LOL...I thought the same thing about that banner! I guess I consider them big because they are way bigger than me! They must be decent because they were doing good business, or maybe it was the huge display that just caught everyones attention:rolleyes2
  11. I've been searching for a good, true, stronge apple and haven't found it yet. Any suggestions?
  12. You can't beat that! The only thing better would be if you are the only chandler there! Good luck!
  13. Anyone ever heard of them? They had a HUGE booth at the fair I did this past weekend and they were very busy throughout the two days. They had a big setup with pictures of there warehouse and everything. So it got me thinking about why fairs would let such a large distributor in to a craft show? They had TWO cash registers going and had t-shirts with the logo on them, as well as bags with the logo. I had heard of them prior to this only because I have a friend who STILL buys from them:mad: , but other than her I had never known anyone to burn those. Anyone else heard of them or used them?
  14. I normally sell my 8oz jars for $8, so at the show this weekend I did 3 for $21.
  15. Day 2...was a total bummer. It POURED rain all day long and the booths outside tore down at about 10am. The inside vendors waited until about 4 (show was suppossed to end at 5). Turnout was drab, of course. For the two days I sold 5 1/2 times the booth fee. I had no less than 10 people ask me if my candles were soy, and when I said no they just walked off:mad: There was one candle booth there that put all of us to shame. They were called Crowes Candles out of Missouri. They had the biggest freaking display I have ever seen...took about about 8 spots. I wasn't all that impressed with them, but then again I am biased:p Anyway, they did alot of business, had two cash registers going and T-shirts with the company name on them. Oh well. I will try to post pics in a few minutes if I can figure out how to get them off of my phone. Thanks for reading!
  16. and I did OK I guess. I made 3 1/2 times the booth fee today, but I was shocked at what was selling. I maybe sold three or four containers all day long, everyone was buying clamshells and tarts:shocked2: Normally, I don't sell much of those. Anyway, I sold 4 of the pumpkin jars with hats. Evidently there is another chandler there selling them about $4 cheaper, so tomorrow I may lower the price, I don't know yet. Also, there is 6 other candle booths at this show, so I guess I shouldn't feel to bad about my sales. There is one other candle booth in my building, but she is selling soy and in a totally differnt type of container. There is suppossed to be 500 vendors at this show, so the turnout is usually VERY high, but this year, it doesn't seem like the crowd is as large as normal, and the people you do see aren't carrying anything! Oh well. Tomorrow is day 2, so hopefully I will have a better report tomorrow night!
  17. I told her she should try mandp first, then move on from there
  18. I want to purchase a starter kit for soapmaking for my mother. Does anyone have any suggestions on wherre to get the best one?
  19. Oh man, I can't even go into ANY store without looking at the candles and or accessories, even if I don't intend to buy anything. Today, for example, I went to CVS on my lunch break to by a few things. Of course, I browse the candle isle, the halloween isle, etc... Well, I end up running across some awesome tart burners for 5.99 a piece. They only had two, so of course I bought them (at the register the rang up for 4.49!). So, you see, I have a problem as well!
