  1. You know what I tell people? All of my scents do. They're just covering it up with scent. But the citrus scents seem to do the best. The odor eliminator Fos seem to all have a citrus in them.
  2. I had a customer that bought my candles once or twice who never burned em, but put them on his gas stove over where the pilot light was burning. I wonder how hot that gets???? I imagine ppl could do the same with a dish and tarts. Just another thing to test LOL and i don't have a gas stove.
  3. Perhaps you could mix funnel cake with something to get something even close to that. Same type of premise.
  4. How are you heating your wax? Because it's impossible that it's the wax's fault. Unless you're saying that the wax is unusable above 165..... have you tested your thermometer?
  5. I have had problems with labels buckling on candles left in the cold, then when I bring em inside the labels have done strange things. I try not to leave them outside for long, but you know how it is when you go to a show and lug things in and out all day long. Perhaps if you don't label them, it wouldn't be a problem unless you need to tell them apart
  6. Oh Good Lord, please don't smash a candy thermometer!! That stuff is mercury. We just had a school closed down because someone broke a thermometer and all the students evacuated. The EPA had to come in and contain. Smash away at a digital one. I was using two, till I tested one in boiling water. It was off so I stop using. The other one I thought was accurate, for quite some time. I just got a infared thermometer and realized that the one I had been using was way off!! If you can afford it, go with an infared!!
  7. I do this with all my stuff when other methods just won't work. I wash in a dishpan then pour the water outside. It's kind of a hassle, so I really try to keep stuff clean so I don't have to do it.
  8. We were recently in Amish Country in Ohio and stopped in here http://www.lehmans.com/index.jsp I didnt find one online for you, however, they have every cookie cutter known to man LOL We found fire hydrants, and then I proceeded to make over 400 of them for gift baskets. Never want to see one again!! Anyhow, there's an 800 number they might help you. HTH
  9. A stove is not necessary if you have wax melters. I do, however, I bought a two burner hot plate type of thing when I started. I use it with a double boiler system occasionally. I also don't have a sink, I don't think it's necessary, but I can see the use for one once in awhile. I'd move now. That way you can get started, organized, etc. and if you get DH to put your sink in later when you are sure you need it, then great. I'm too impatient to wait for pesky other people. LOL
  10. I just made my first palm piller. It's downstairs cooling. Wonder how long I have to wait to unmold..... It's about time I actually made a candle for me!!!!!!! I poured a bunch of tarts too, but the pillar makes me excited. Wish me luck that I don't ruin it trying to unmold too soon. As far as baking goes, I have to make one more batch of cutouts, the 200 or so I made went in gift baskets. We decided to make our own gift baskets this year for BF's customers instead of Hickory Farms or Harry & David. They were a huge hit. Customers have called and said they were the best gift baskets they had ever received hands down. I asked him if he'd ever got those calls on years before, he said no. Woooooo hooooooo!! Oh yeah and of course, a candle went in each one!! Anyway, everyone have a great Christmas!!
  11. 1. Spruce Christmas Tree (Peak) 2. Amish Harvest (peak) 3. Orange Clove (NG) I have a friend who has done fundraisers for her son's traveling baseball team who suggested Amish after I gave her a candle from a sample. It has been consistently one of my best sellers, almost year round. The Christmas Tree, has just been a phenomenal seller for me. I have a lot of veteran candle users who have been looking for a great pine scent, and this has been so successful with them.
  12. No they don't. You can manually input an order or import from a file. I use it for my Amazon orders all the time. I normally manually put them in.
  13. There have been a lot of "Can I use -----". The answer is always candle dye. There are dye chips, liquid dye, and concentrated dye blocks/powders. Lot's of people leave them undyed also. Personally I use liquid, I find it much easier than the other methods. Also I think it's cheaper than dye chips. HTH
  14. I roll the wick on the table. Put the wick tab off the edge and roll the wick under your hand or hands depending on how long the wick is. Roll it like you were making a snake out of play doh (if that makes any sense). HTH
  15. Nothing better than the smell of fresh cut grass and dirt from the garden in the spring time. Many people buy FCG year round. Lots of them from winterish states where the snow starts early and doesn't leave till June. And ppl in Hawaii too. Peak's is what I use. It's great!
  16. If you like eating soap, sure go ahead. That's what it tastes like.
  17. How can I get them to start buying from me????? LOL A sale is a sale!!
  18. I was wondering about the reed quality from ICS since they are so cheap. Have you tried other suppliers? If they are working well, that's good news though, I'm getting ready to buy and still looking for the best suppliers. No help here, but thanks for the info!!
  19. Try Aztec. Best prices for the ones I use.
  20. Most of the buckets I've seen were not filled to the top. I'm sure to protect the wick and make them a little safer. Doesn't help with wicking but, will help you save some money on wax. If you leave maybe an inch and a half, or two inches, the flame will be protected from wind. Good luck with that!!
  21. Yes they are. I don't know anything about them, but she's emailed me a number of times. For those of you who PM'd me, I forwarded your info to her.
  22. I have a customer request for 16 oz. mason jars soy candles for a fundraiser. I don't do masons, so please PM me and I will forward your website to her. I don't have any ideas on quantity etc. Thanks!! I'd like to get this to her within the next few days.\ They are in Alabama by the way
  23. Some I like, some I don't. I like the Cucumber Melon, because it smells more of Cucumber and it is not so sweet. Their Country Clothesline is a great thrower in soy, but almost too strong. The black cherry bomb is strong. Everyone who purchased this candle loves it. I recently visited their store and the selection of scents there is amazing, but some are too weak. I like their customer service and shipping costs to me, however they are moving even closer to me now and so shipping will be $0. Yeah!! I love that!! I think you just have to test in wax and see what you think. Like everyone always says, test in your stuff, not everything works for everyone. Good Luck!
  24. They do have the ability to make the big kiss candles, if they are not currently. My aunt brought back one from Hershey PA a few years ago.
