  1. Sorry I don't know much about your wax, BUT I did want to comment on your wick placement. I don't know if you've tested these yet, but in t he photos the wicks look a little close to the sides of the jar to me. As long as the glass isn't getting too hot, even on powerburns and even by the time you're burning at the bottom of the jar, it's probably fine. My rule of thumb is that if I can't physically hold onto the jar after it's been burning a few hours then it's too hot. Personally when I double wick I place the wicktabs with about a 1/4-1/2" space between them depending on size of jar. HTH!
  2. Try keeping your storage room at a consistent temperature. I really think temp changes can affect frosting.
  3. I tried I think 2 of the whole whopping THREE sizes (maybe they have more now??). How can 3 sizes be enough for all jars? They were just OK. I wouldn't waste your time. It seems like they did smoke a little too. I think these wicks are for beginners just looking to do one size or something.
  4. Yep I do it all the time. I use the two pour pot method, cool to very slushy stage, and then con someone into twirling the jar or very awkwardly do it myself! I like to use very contrasting colors and usually limit this to my bakery scents because it looks so much like food, especially in my square masons. By the way - I saw some beanp*d candles that were three layers and the layers had totally blended together. So much for "stabilized" soy, huh??
  5. That's just where you take pictures of and explain the process of something in a series of threads, right? Or do you actually teach through a webcam? Cause that I couldn't do (no technology and kids screaming and running pretty much always). I have a few things I could probably put together. I could do a quilted purse/tote thing. Or, I could do photo to fabric transfer and then use the fabric to make a wallhanging or something.
  6. I use pure soy w/no additives. In the 8 oz jelly I use CD-10 (typically florals), CD-12 (typically foody) and on two difficult scents CD-14. HTH
  7. Not to hijack, but I've had two product/csr issues with BCS lately. Prior experiences with them have been wonderful, recently not so much. Are they under new management or ownership or something??? For now I've found other suppliers for what I order from them and for now hope to avoid future dealings with them.
  8. Both my sons had severe eczema. It actually IS an allergic reaction, at least from what several doctors have told us. Please don't ask me to explain because it's beyond my lay language , but it's basically an "allergic to everything."???? That oatmeal bath is wonderful for it, so mine must not have the allergy. I have given many many oatmeal baths at 3:00 a.m., because that's when the eczema always seems to flare - of course!
  9. I actually bought one several months ago out of curiosity and because the jar was REALLY cute and the candle was $6 (prolly $5.88) so I figured if the candle sucked I could melt it out and reuse the jar. The label said it was hand poured in the USA. Mine is triple layered pretty colors with some various apple scents. The throw is so-so hot, cold decent. It has burned with a perfect melt pool, even though the wick is pretty off-center. BUT, this thing smokes like crazy! Yikes. When it burns - black smoke. If you blow it out - black smoke for like 10 minutes - no joke! That pretty jar is covered in black soot. I also think it's a parasoy for sure. 50/50 or even more para than that. The melt point is HIGH and there is NO frosting, no chunky weird tops upon re-harden. Nope, no worries, it's cheap junk. Now those Beanp*d, I actually like those and sometimes even buy them for a scent I can't find a dupe for. Please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me now...:tiptoe:
  10. I have little kids so we have tons of those medicine droppers with the rubber bulb on one end (imagine a very small turkey baster). We get them free from the pharmacy and once the painted numbers wear off they become candle tools! I suck up the wax and sqeeze it into the openings. No mess!
  11. Oh, PB is also $60.50 on sale I see. Sorry, I only use CB and didn't even notice the price on PB. I don't know if that's a deal or not??
  12. http://www.dpswax.com/sales/Sale-March_2008.pdf This link takes you directly to the sales flyer. It's in pdf format so if you don't have adobe you won't be able to open it. I'm sure they could fax it to you or something if you called them.
  13. I'm in no way associated with Morris Wax, just wanted to let you all know about a sale they're having. Looks like most waxes are on sale right now. Ecosoya is at $50.50 per case as opposed to over $90 at some suppliers. Glass Glow is $56.60 per case and man that's tempting... I've purchased from DPS before since I can pick it up and they're extremely friendly. I don't know if they ship, though.
