  1. Those turned out nice. How does the Astor Q do as pillars? I've done votives, but not brave enough to try a pillar. I sure do like the looks of it! Be sure to post a pic of the unity when it's done
  2. I love those! If I ever get into containers much, I think it'll be along those lines.
  3. Bet that was a lot faster than using cookie cutters! LOL
  4. The white line was actually an accident, but I'm working on trying to duplicate it. I left this one upside sown and made the bottom the top because of the look. Now I'm going to see if I can make the "flame" line on an angle
  5. You basically got it! Personally, I really think you'll need wickpins because it'll be hard to keep a wick in place and straight. Or as an alternative just for experimenting, you can make it solid and use a drill bit to make the hole afterwards. I've done that before too. Just twist the bit with my fingers, not using a drill...lol. as for how long to zap the mold, you'll have to just try it and see. It will vary depending on how hot your heat gun is, how solid the wax gets, etc. Time to experiment
  6. I don't use blocks, but do mix some of my own colors and make chips with it. I use about 2oz wax and add enough dye to get the color I want but greatly increased. Then pour it in little mint patty candy molds (some use jelly bean molds). With blocks you could do similar. Melt a block in a couple oz plain paraffin wax, but record what size block and how much wax. Then pour it in a small easy to use shape mold. Each piece should give you the same results, or at least very close. And now that I've thoroughly confused you, let me say, I do prefer liquid
  7. Actually, I do both. Of course, my pins do fit inside my round ones. If I'm using my 9", I can't get the candle out unless the pin is inside so I have something to pull on...lol. Either way, you'll still have to putty the hole. When I thread it through, I do like the others. I use a good size "ring" of putty and it hold the mold pretty good if you don't knock it around. I just give it a little straightening when I'm done pouring and let it sit.
  8. Agent, you can try here. Their site says international shipping but I don't know where all they ship to. This powder is used to make glow candles. I've been wanting to order some to try, but haven't yet HTH http://www.readysetglo.com/Compare_glow_products.asp
  9. I don't remember seeing seemless in the other shapes, thought there may be some. I usually take a fine piece of sandpaper or my mini files to the sharp edges of my metal ones and votives. They'll still cut, but not quites as easily or deep
  10. When I saw this, the old ketchup commercial popped into my head. The one where it takes forever for it to run out. "Anticipation... it's making me wait..." LOL I drives me crazy waiting to see how each candle will turn out. Enjoy you're dinner
  11. It usually helps give a smoother shiny finish and helps to release air bubbles IMO
  12. I've been looking for one too, but haven't found one anywhere yet
  13. Not that I know of, but give me time...LOL
  14. That pic turned out much better. The hurricane looks good
  15. Reminds me of fruit cocktail. I like it!
  16. I melted the 1343 back down and added more wax, etc to make the FO 3/4 oz pp. It's not sweating or bulging near as bad and and it's not yucky to hug anymore. I may get the hang of this 1343 yet...lol
  17. Very different! I think I like them
  18. Does the mulberry smell? Now that I think about it, I have no idea what they smell like. It has a nice natural look Really like the lavender too
  19. If you haven't used it, you can probably just take it back and exchange it. It's not uncommon to grab the wrong item and most stores are reasonable about it
  20. Though it is a good idea to add a UV Inhibitor with colors
  21. Please bear with me.... I'm having a difficult time wrapping my mind around all this. Based on a straight paraffin wax (1343 as example)... Vybar 103 (1tsp pp) - adds opacity, kills mottle, increases FO % load...how much does it increase it? Will it make a 3% FO load wax bind 6%? UA - Works the same as Vybar 103 except causes less opacity? Vybar 343 - increase FO % load but will still mottle Stearic - Hardens wax, lessens FO sweating...is this increasing the FO % load? Does it actually make the FO bind more so that it doesn't sweat out? Helps with rustic finish? The more I read, the more conflicting information becomes: From a site suggested by Candleman on old board...http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art15113.asp It would be so helpful if there was a site with actual factual information on what all the additives WILL and can possibly do. If there is, someone please point me to it! I'm really wishing my pillar blend wasn't fingernailing! I'm frying my brain trying to understand all this
