  1. My husband is a contractor for FedEx Home Delivery and his work week is Tuesday through Saturday. We live in a rural area where he also delivers. Home Delivery is a subsidiary of FedEx Ground and Ground's work week is Monday through Friday. The tracking system can leave something to be desired at times though. And if you call Customer Service they can also be clueless about whether your package is on a Ground or a Home truck. But if the package is supposed to be on a Home truck and you don't receive it on a Saturday you probably won't see it until the following Tuesday. It doesn't mean that the driver "sat" on the package but rather that he didn't have it on his truck on Saturday in the first place.
  2. Just one word of caution. I made these a few years ago and gave one to a friend. Somehow a small bit of water got trapped and when the wick burned in it's vicinity it went "POW" and blew hot wax all over the place! It was the only one I had a problem with but one was enough for me! Sheryl Nor Cal
  3. Those really are pretty and the scents sound wonderful! I've had no problem getting them out of the mold either but, yes, cleaning them can be a little time consuming. I think the time is worth it. Guess I should buy a couple more of them! Sheryl
  4. I bought a couple of 3 wickers about 5 years ago at Walmart and the dark red of (of course!) blew out before it even made it halfway on the burn. Red wax right down my rolltop desk and onto my light blue carpet! What a mess and a lesson well learned. So I took the dark green one and threw it into my wax recycle box untouched. When I went to break it apart I realized that the wax was indeed granulated so off to the garbage can it went! Sheryl
  5. Wow, thanks everyone for the kind words! Now, for the questions... tlc, mtngirl and Lori...I don't use any scent in my overpour but then, I was having allergies like crazy so I stopped scenting my candles. That is until this week when I got brave and used some scent. But, unless the scent was almost colorless I don't know if I'd use it in the overpour anyway. Chunk placement is also a big factor in the results. And, yes, I did use little cookie cutters for those shapes. Thanks Sharyl...that's our grandaughter in the cane. You know Mozzie, I didn't scent the citrus layer and, like you, was wracking my brain trying to figure out what I would offer in the way of a citrus scent. I know that many of those fragrances can smell like fuel. I did do a little research though and found out that Genwax has a pretty popular oil called Juicy Bits of Orange. I guess I should try it next time! Sheryl
  6. That is so gorgeous Veronica. I remember watching a guy do those back in the 70's at Pier 39 in San Francisco and it was almost hypnotic. I think you're doing a beautiful job! Sheryl
  7. Thanks tlc! I used 1343 at Donita's suggestion and it really does a nice job. Of course you may have to coax some of it off where it's in a thin layer over a shape but it's really not a big deal to do. I'm having so much fun Donita! Once I got the bugs worked out it was a matter of order more wax or move on to another experiment...now watch...I'll run out of everything at the same time! I swear in 30 years candlemaking has never been such a blast! Sheryl
  8. I've been making regular pillars for a long time so it took me a while to get started with the new ideas. But once I finally began was just too much fun to stop! There are so many people to thank for their inspiration and generosity where their candle creations are concerned. A special thank you to Scented and Donita! Sheryl NorCal
  9. I'm sure it will touch the hearts of many and open doors for many more. Your Dogwood candle is absolutely beautiful, as always and your description very apt. Congratulations on your gallery showing! I'm sure it will be a huge success! Sheryl
  10. take it from me...Donita is definitely speaking the truth about the 5055 and micro 180...don't ask me how I know!:rolleyes2 Sheryl-CA
  11. I figured it out. Thanks to those who viewed this thread. I heated the mold and warmed up the water bath. Sheryl
  12. Thanks to both of you. The closest possible "local" supplier other than Genwax would be Cierra Candle Supply. She carries some IGI waxes but nothing in the higher melt point range and she's in Reno Nevada. I never gave Lone Star a thought when it came to waxes! I just finished pushing the order button for some of Candlewic's 5055 that Donita uses and likes so I'm looking forward to trying it. But that wedding candle did look very pretty too so I have another option next time! Sheryl
  13. As always, beautifully inspired! Love the bright blue and the glitter almost looks celestial! Sheryl
  14. It's been some time since I purchase new hurricane wax and, of course, since then many brands have become difficult to find. I've used Genwax's and BCN's and found Genwax's to not be as transluscent as I'd like. Has anyone tried Peak's new hurricane was? They have such a great reputation here that I was thinking I'd like to try their wax this time. If Candlewic were closer to the West Coast I'd definitely go with them but the shipping is just about the same amount as the case of wax! Any help is appreciated. TIA Sheryl, Norcal
  15. Christina, you hit the nail right on the head! I haven't had it happen too much but have experienced it a couple of times and was just couldn't bring myself to ask the question! Thanks Tucker for doing that for me! I too am experimenting with canes with partial success only! And thanks Scented and Top for the suggestions! Sheryl
