  1. I buy all my supplies from Candlescience.com. They have great prices, not sure about shipping costs since I live 5 minutes away from them. THey have great candle chips, and they also sell the liquid dye.
  2. I have used unwaxed for pillars. You will need to dip it or it wont stand up in votives etc. I just get the waxed kind now.
  3. Put it in fridge for few minutes if it is stuck. Then it should slide out. You could just remelt it down and repour it.
  4. I order from them also, I live 5 minutes away from them. I have tried a good many FO's, they all have been great. THey are nice and strong.
  5. You may want to also check on Candlescience.com. I do all my ordering from them. They have a big selection on wax, FO. I dont know about shipping as I live 5 minutes away from them and pick up. THey are in NC, but worth a shot to see how much shipping is. I have ordered from Cierra before. They always have the free shipping upto 30 pounds with $99 order, but I wasnt impressed with the FO they offer. Some were very weak. Peaks has alot of FO if you are into certain FO's then you may want to try them out. Just shop around.
  6. I use 1 oz per 1 lb of wax. Just depends on how much your wax holds. Mine last a really long time, my girlfriend got some of mine and she commented they last longer than yankee:grin2:
  7. I order from Candlescience.com. They have really good prices. I am not sure on shipping as I live 5 minutes away and pick up orders. Peaks has really good products, I would love to order from them but I hate paying shipping. Good luck:yes: btw they are located in NC
  8. I have put mine in my oven to cool before. Worked good as I have a vent that blows right onto kitchen counter. I have also used boxes to cover them up. Really helps on small candles.
  9. I melt my wax and then add it. They melt pretty fast. Then add my FO after that.
  10. I use preblended, much easier. If you are using straight, you probally need to add some addatives. I had a pillar get pinholes once. I was told to try pouring slower, make sure you tap your mold well. I dont preheat votive molds, never have probs with them. Also good to cover candles while cooling so they dont cool to fast, sometimes that causes probs too. Good luck:)
  11. I also use Candlescience, I live 5 minutes from them. THey are a great company, never had any problems. I would love to try peaks but hate to pay shipping when I pick my orders up here. Candlescience btw is located near Raleigh, NC. I would check around on prices and see who can give you the best rates.
  12. Are u putting in freezer to get out of cups? I have had candles crack that do that. Maybe they also could be cooling to fast or something. Never had a votive crack strange...
  13. I havent gotten to use any peaks yet, but I have heard they are very strong. Some cut back to 3/4 of a oz.
  14. Stick it in fridge for few minutes that usually helps.
  15. I dont know about yankee but I was in bath and body works candle shop white barn one day. I was looking at their candles. Girl told me they use only 3% fo in the pillars since most people use them as decoration. She told me this cause I said I couldnt smell anything. WHo the heck wants to pay $8 for a barely scented candle lol. So they may also not put much fo in theirs. She told me 9% in jar candles.
  16. I still do double boiler method, I dont make many at a time so it works. I would think if you could control heat that would be ok. Dont know:undecided When I started out didnt know you needed to do double boil method lol. Good learning tips on this board:smiley2:
  17. I use zinc wicks for my votives. The 36 size works great. It can be frustrating sometimes...
  18. Paper towels are a candlers best friend. I never use soap or water. Just wipe when pour pot is hot, it all comes perfectly clean.
  19. How deep do you all make your relief holes? I dont make many pillars but it doesnt ever really tell you how deep to go.
  20. You can call and complain about them leavign package without ringing doorbell. They left a $600 formal gown box in rain one time, I called and raked them over the coals. Not only had it rained but sat outside all night long. Its really irritating sometimes lol.
  21. My sister lives in Ohio, and I know stuff like that sells well. She makes hand made dolls, etc and sells in a shop in Omish Country. I know she has bought stuff like crock candles before. Where is Ohio are you? My sis lives near Akron/Canton area.
  22. Maybe you could fit some cinnamon sticks in jar lid. That would be cute. Or some christmas berrier.
