  1. Years ago, when I was still making candles from my Yaley kit , and before I used the internet for info, I innocently and naively asked the local candlemaker at the downtown market about sink holes. Proprietary information had never crossed my mind. She gave me a dirty look and mumbled something incoherent. I thought she was rude. As I got more serious about candlemaking I learned why she didn't want to tell me. I think an appropriate answer to people's questions would be: "I've spent thousands of hours and dollars to develop my products, so I'm not ready to give away what I've worked so hard for." Or, you could just say you researched it on the internet. Period, end of story. Don't feel bad. Most people don't realize that they are being offensive. I know it's annoying, but take it as a compliment instead that they want to copy your stuff! :smiley2:
  2. Wow, e, very nice! Your products and set up look awesome!
  3. I really like Vanilla Buttercream Crunch and Chestnuts & Brown Sugar. Both have a great hot throw in 1343.
  4. I've ordered wax and stearic from them. Never had a problem. Quick service.
  5. Your products and pics look great! The text is too small though. Everything else is very nice! I just ordered, actually.
  6. Well, huh, huh??? I really want to try this one. Didja burn it?
  7. I don't usually like rose scented anything, but I do like Peak's Rose Bouquet. It smells like a real rose with green notes. Not powdery at all, nor old lady perfume-y. Very nice.
  8. Exactly! I hate to sound like a snob, but I find the 1/2 oz. sample annoying. I can't test with 1/2 oz. It's just a teaser.
  9. I requested samples from them last year. A sales rep called and we talked about my potential needs. Received the samples shortly after. The samples are very nice! Hopefully some day I'll justify needing some, lol.
  10. I have only tried a few coffee scents, but Peak's Cappuccino Hazelnut is very nice! I really like this one!
  11. So that's what Steve Miller was talking about.
  12. I have no idea where to get this FO, but Brenda (Brenda's Bars) made some butter in it and it's awesome. I'd check with her.
  13. I agree with Trish on this. When I only do one color (as opposed to layers) the finish looks rustic but not really textured. I think it's because the mold is hot the whole time after the wax is in it, even if you pour cool. The more wax that is in the mold, the hotter the mold stays. With layers, you only have the layer to warm the mold, as opposed to the whole candle. I hope this makes sense.
  14. I'm not normally a fan of gel, but that looks really good. Very cute!
  15. Oops, for got to add: I use 1343 with stearic and am having good luck with LX wicks.
  16. I've had luck using 24 flat ply with the 4625 and a 3" round pillar mold, but I've never used the square. Sorry I can't help with that one. Try the 24 or 27 flat as a starting point and go from there. HTH
  17. I don't know how much glassware you need on a regular basis, but I think some people have had luck with talking to the department manager who was able to order some cases for them. Just a thought.
  18. IMO, most pillars will not throw (hot) as strong as a container because the melt pool of a pillar is usually smaller than a container's. You can still get great throw out of pillars though. The perfect wick will also depend on the wax and additives you use, not just FO. It will take lots of trial and error. I do not make square pillars, but I definitely would not assume that the same wick will work for both rounds and squares. You could use it as a starting point, but definitely test the square from start to finish. That's the only way you'll know for sure.
  19. I've never heard of bad stearic. I guess anything is possible, but first thing I'd do is contact the supplier. Who knows, maybe it was a mix up and isn't stearic at all. Your formula looks OK, but maybe a tad too cool to pour. Call TC and see what they say. Hope they can help.
  20. Try looking over at TSR. Joe the "administrator" seems to know a lot about their oils.
