  1. LOL..well then, I guess you could just sell the 'fresh cut grass' scented candles! As for the tarts being in the plastic cups, my opinion is don't do it! I feel the plastic cups look cheap and I myself wouldn't buy them. As for the set up, it is busy, seems to be to much going on in different areas. I would definitely choose some nice long tables to use, dress them up, use height on the tables for displaying items, keep things in groups, don't bring everything you offer...keep it simple! What ever items are your best sellers, that's what I would bring..whether that is your candles and tarts or whatever. I avoid booths that have umpteen different items for sale...I will look at a booth showing a few items that the artisan has perfected, I don't care to see 15 different items the artisan has whipped together to sell...KWIM? Anyway, good luck with your next show....way to keep your chin up and keep trying!
  2. Ahhh, ya, I bet that would really get your customers attention...roflmao:laugh2: 'hand squirted'!!!!!!
  3. Hey where did you read that ezsoy is a blend with additives? I checked the bcn site and it says 100% soy....I think they had an old version of ezsoy that used additives, but not the current ezsoy.....
  4. Wow that's quite the set up.....but then so much for the 'handpoured' part of marketing! LOL...and how the heck do you wick all of those suckers before they cool??????
  5. I haven't used KY in a couple of years now, but the oils I used in the past were always good. They usually worked well in my soywax. If you do a search here you will find alot of opinions, also, KY has their own message board on their website and you can get some opinions on scents there also. I just can't think of any of her oils at the moment..LOL..I just know I used them and they worked well!
  6. Millcreek has a great Oatmeal Raisin Cookie....very strong...it does need to be wicked up on tho. They also carry some really strong fruit scents. I use soy and I know her oils are tested for soy, I am not sure what you are using tho...HTH!
  7. IMO, if I was using paraffin with a lesser amount of soy added I would call it a Parasoy and if I was using a soywax with a lesser amount of paraffin I would call it a Soyaffin. Makes sense to me...the wax with the highest % would be in the first part of the name...if I was using all paraffin with some additives, that I would call a paraffin blend wax. (and if we get any new forums here I am voting for a 'wickless' forum...that I feel is very much needed!)
  8. After reading through some of your previous posts and looking at your myspace that states you are 16 years old I found this previous tidbit you posted..."I never said that my first business was a candles store or anything. My first store was any electronics store. i sold out after about 10 years so that i could eventually open up a resturant but plans change." So what does this mean? You were 6 years old when you started an electronics store???? As for these candles that you supposedly make...have you tested all 300 of those scents you are offering? Or is this all just another mask for your drop shipping of gelluminations or whoevers product that you are trying to pass off as your own? :rolleyes2
  9. I have never tried the LS from BCN but I have tried a couple of others and have found Tennessee carries the absolute best LS...it is an exact match to the real thing and throws great in soywax!
  10. Most definitely FOH! Exceptional customer service, very high quality oils and very reasonable prices!
  11. HUH??? I'm a bit confused here...you use soy, and you have found that most scents need 1.5 oz pp to get a strong throw? But yet, you stopped using an oil because you had to use so much less and it was still too strong? And if someone uses 1 oz or less pp, they must use parriffin? Umm..ok, but no, that is probably not the case. There are many many many fragrance oil companies that have quality oils that you do NOT need more than an ounce of oil to get a very strong throw. Many many soy users can use an ounce or less and get that strong throw. Yes, there are a few companies that you must use 1.5 oz pp to get a strong throw from, but it does not limit you to using parriffin to be able to use less than that.....and yes, buying fragrance oil from one company to another DOES make a difference...a huge difference in alot of cases. Not all oils are the same. And wow, you would actually tell a customer your candles aren't for them? HUH?
  12. Thank you for the input Carol K! I will test it again, and try using less than one ounce! Much appreciated!
  13. Hi Carol K, I have a whole bottle of the so&cp here that I tested and I get a strong fuel smell from it...I am bummed because it is an awesome fresh orange scent and would love to burn it, but don't because of the dreaded fuel..did you get that in yours at all? Did you add anything? Thank you for any input!
  14. Since its spring/summer I would burn a scent that brings to mind those seasons...lite, fruity, clean, fresh etc...I would probably stay away from heavier, winter-type scents......and yes, pineapple cilantro (from bcn) is a great scent! Very strong thrower too! One of my best sellers! HTH
  15. I second BCN key lime pie...its awesome in soy! More expensive, but dang, its that good! Super strong and you smell all the parts of the pie...graham cracker crust, key lime middle, and the whipped topping......but this is of course the pie scent...if you are looking for a straight key lime, then no this one wouldn't be that....to much 'pie' smell!! JMO! HTH
  16. I wish I could sell Bakery scents...just doesn't cut it around here. But I have to carry a couple to satisfy that minority. I have done the same thing tho, I let my preferences get in the way! LOL! Its so hard to pour a scent that you don't like, there just is no love in it! I am going to be expanding my line and thus having to pour those 'icky' scents! Good luck with your 'new scents'..hopefully it will bring in more sales!
  17. I use the GB 415.....but I had to comment on the name of your business.......dirtybirdsoaps...that's a cute one!
  18. Your site looks great...the stripes on the sides are hard on my eyes also.... but pink and black always go together, seems easy enough to navigate! The font on the left is a bit hard to read for me, but that could be because of the stripes that are boggling my eyes...LOL...looks good, a nice simple site!
  19. Jami, Before you melt down all those candles, take a couple and pull the wicks out of the candle with a pliers..then take a couple of different size wicks that you think would work and stick them back down inside the candles..this way you can test burn wick sizes instead of having to melt down and pour a new candle just to test wick sizes.....then you will know what wick works the best, then melt down and pour the finished candle! HTH!
  20. Yep, same results here....YUCK on both of those scents!!! I tested them and couldn't finish burning the candles...melted them down. It must be the 'brown sugar' scent in these that I just do not like!
  21. Awwww....lol...I was just going to say that same thing when I read the title!:highfive:
  22. here's a link to the site..try this http://www.candlesupply.com/
  23. You really can't go wrong with FOH! I love the oils from here..nice and strong! Some awesome scents for summer are, Hawaiian Hibiscus Yuzu (smells and alot like the vanilla grapefruit (wyw) from BCN..only much better price) Island Temptations (dupe of Tropical Passionfruit from bbw...yummy) The martini scents, the coffee scent, the woody scents...awwww heck, pretty much everything smells great! LOL:D
  24. Now that's just plain 'dirty' to tell customers to get their orders in before April 1 because prices will increase on that day, and then increase the prices THE DAY BEFORE!!!!! I really wanted to try some 'one of these days' but...who knows now...that was a cheap thing to do to her customers! :undecided
