I tab my own wicks because I buy wick by the spool and tabs by the pound. Really doesn't take any extra time and I can make whatever size I want.

I've seen it called "Spun Sugar".

I use a queen or king size sheet so that it hangs to the floor on both sides, then put a flannel back table cover on top. HTH!

I made candles with a boy scout troop and we did ice candles in milk cartons. I had my daughter save the half pint cartons from school. You'll have to cut the tops off the cartons to make a square. We bought taper candles from the dollar store and cut them down to fit inside the carton. Then we held the taper with one hand while packing crushed ice around it to hold it up. Then poured pillar wax inside the carton. Once the ice is melted, just peel the carton away. Hope your group is better behaved than mine was. I swear I'll never do another project with that group again!!

As long is the jar is kept closed, they should be good for quite some time. I have beads left from last Christmas that are still strong.

I too responded politely and did get a response back. She asked if she ordered by next week if that would leave enough time to complete the order. It's a shame that we have to be so suspicious of every inquiry we get. Like I said before, the bogus order inquiries are getting old. I'm curious to see if she ends up ordering from any of us.

Since the jars are full, try putting them in the oven upside-down in one of those foil baaking pans from the dollar store. One with high sides. Then once the wax melts out, just wipe the jars and put them n the dishwasher. You can store the wax in the foil pan and use for something else like firestarters. The foil pulls away from the wax pretty easily once you're ready to use it.

I couldn't sell the cardboard fresheners to save my life but aroma ornies sell like hot cakes. I think the ornies hold scent longer.

I don't mind making them either. Maybe because I use a single pour it doesn't seem so bad.

Mine always stick to the cutter so I just pull the cutter outwards from both sides, just a little so you don't break it. Then you should be able to push the ornie thru.

I had the same thing happen to me several years ago. I noticed three odd charges on my online banking, each for $1 with weird names like StankFace.com. My bank said sometimes people make charges for small amounts and if they are successful in getting the money, they go back for more. Two more attempts were made, one for $500 and one for $2000. Fortunately, the bank had "hot-carded" my account so the money didn't come out. I don't know how your bank works, but with mine, I'm only liable for the first $50 of unauthorized charges. Supposedly, you should make online purchases with a regular credit card because it's easier to dispute. Hope you get everything straightened out.

It's pretty funny...now some of the people on the massage board that do paraffin hand and foot treatments are all worried that they are exposing their clients to the "poisons" of paraffin!! I totally forgot about that part of the massage world!! Maybe they'll think before being so quick to bash paraffin.

I just responded that I wasn't there to get in a soy vs paraffin war, I was there to learn about the massage therapy world and it's a personal choice and mine happens to be paraffin. Just thought it was kinda funny how she hopped right in and started bashing paraffin. I'm kinda seeing how all these Massage Therapists are into the soy thing. To each his own I guess!

I belong to a massage therapy board since I will soon be attending massage school. I plan on incorporating aromatherapy candles into my massage business one day. Anywho, someone on the board asked if made soy candles and I answered no, I use paraffin. Well, another member retorted with this: Just thought you might want to know what you are selling The Truth about Paraffin Wax Candles…. Paraffin is the greyish-black sludge leftover from petroleum refinery processing. To make paraffin wax the sludge is: bleached chemically colored texturized with harmful chemicals, including acrolein In January 2001, the EPA reported as a worse case scenerio that you are exposed to the following chemicals when burning paraffin candles: Regarding formaldehyde, the EPA states, "It is shown to cause cancer in animals and may cause cancer in humans." Also, "...may trigger attacks in people with asthma" and "...ozone generators are not effective in removing.... formaldehyde." Regarding acrolein, the EPA states "It is extremely toxic to humans from inhalation...." According to the EPA, acrolein is formed from burning gasoline. Regarding acetaldehyde, the EPA states "Based on the carcinogenicity of acetaldehyde in animals, EPA has concluded that acetaldehyde is a probable human carcinogen." The January 2001 report also touched on the risk of harmful black soot particles. They stated that although soot particles are very small and can potentially penentrate the deepest areas of the lungs, further research has not been done on the subject. Guess there's at least one paraffin basher on every board. Any comments on this??

I collect as much info as I can from the customer. Name, address, phone, cell, and driver's license #. I also write down whether is is Visa, MC, etc and the bank that issues it. I've never had a decline but want to be able to get hold of the person in case there is. I also use a knuckle-buster. This way both you and the customer have a receipt.

I'm finishing up a fundraiser, so I'm pouring Apple Pie, Apple Crisp, Twigs & Berries, Blueberry Muffin and Spiced Cranberry. Also have some pink awareness ribbon ornies to make for another fundraiser. Have to do this around soccer games and a b-day party!!

Yes, you can use ProPay for craft shows. I have a manual swiper but you can just write the customer info down if you don't want to purchase a swiper. You can also go with the higher package with ProPay that allows you to process the cards over the phone.

NG's Mrs Claus Cookies is a really true sugar cookie scent. I couldn't keep it in stock last year. NG's regular Sugar Cookie smells like vanilla pudding to me.
