  1. I bake mine at 325 on the middle rack for 5 minutes. Just enough for them to melt together.
  2. I use ProPay and can process the CC's over my cell phone from shows. I also have a manual swiper that I use at home shows. I just get as much info as possible, name, address, phone #, driver's license, etc. Just in case there is a decline. I've gotten quite a bit of credit card sales since I started accepting them and people tend to buy more too when they can charge it.
  3. Here ya go! http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=Candles&category%5Fname=Other+Wax+Decorations&Page=1&path=Embeds+%26+Decorations%23Other+Wax+Decorations
  4. They are made with aroma beads. I was happy to find a cookie cutter with the center cutout. Kicking myself for only buying one though!!
  5. Making these for two friends to sell to help reach their donation goal for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Scented Pink Sugar.
  6. Laura at Tropical Breeze now has the molds that Janet from Creative Gems used to make.
  7. Did you want the tealight plug? You can get them at www.tropicalbreezecandles.net.
  8. Since you use PayPal, you can sell gift certificates thru them. Go to your profile, then under Financial Info, click on Gift Certificates and you can create one from there. Whoever buys the certificate can have it e-mailed to the recipient or they can print it out. Only down side is the recipient has to have or open a PayPal account to redeem it.
  9. When I used a double boiler, I bought a metal strainer that had "legs" on the bottom (the bottom was flat). Then I'd set the pour pot in the strainer inside a bigger pot of water.
  10. I keep a stock of my best sellers and pour everything else to order. Some of my gel candles have to be poured to order because the colored embeds eventually bleed into the gel.
  11. I used candy cane embeds that I made myself, but they weren't scented. I'm thinking it has to be the FO because I made snowman gels using snowman embeds I made with the same wax but using a different FO and they are crystal clear.
  12. A few years ago, my daughter's class went to Amish Country here in PA and one of the stops was a candle shop. I saw pretty much the same thing. The demonstration was fun to watch. They poured wax out of a spigot from a big melter into a metal pour pot, tossed in some powdered dye and additives, then poured the FO straight out of the gallon container into the wax. No measuring whatsoever. I guess they don't know about wick pins for votives either because they just poured the wax into the molds and plopped the wick in. No wonder they don't have centered wicks. I didn't buy any but they were selling them pretty cheap.
  13. Does anyone know of a supplier that sells Peppermint FO that won't turn yellow over time? I had about 30 small gels left over from XMas that was clear with candy cane embeds and the clear turned to a ginger ale color. Pretty nasty looking. TIA!
  14. I stopped doing wedding favors because everyone always asked "If I order this amount, do I get a discount?". People want stuff for almost free anymore. Glad you stood your ground! Tracy
  15. I store mine is glass jars also. I make up a bunch in different scents, then when I'm ready to make ornies, they're ready to go. As for the size, you have to think about whether or not you'd be willing to sell the ornies if someone were to like the freebie they got. If you are, I'd go with the 3 in size. If not, go smaller. I sell these like crazy so you might be starting something for yourself here!!
  16. I couldn't sell the cardboard ones if my life depended on it but I sell the crap out of the aroma bead ornies. I think the aroma bead ones are stronger and last longer too. JMO.
  17. I use mod podge and either sprinkle or roll the candle in the glitter. I also use it on my sugar cookie basket candles for Christmas. Here's a post showing a pic: http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9464
  18. I have one that I use for home shows, craft shows and phone orders. I process everything thru ProPay.
  19. I don't live too far from your shop and read the article in the paper yesterday. Congrats! Glad business is picking up!!
  20. $350 seems like alot to me, only because our little league asks that much for a 2 year sponsorship, name on the shirts and a big sign on the field. I sponsored a soccer team for the last two years at $150 and got nothing out of it except a crappy fundraiser. I'm not saying don't do it, because your area might be different from mine, but maybe find out some other people who have sponsored and ask them how it worked out for them before you shell out that kind of money. Also, ask if the football team has a program that you can advertise in. Our high school offeres ad space in the programs that are handed out at each home game. Good luck with whatever you decide!
  21. I don't know what printing program you use, but I use PrintMaster and I was able to use the margin measurements provided on the Online Labels website and create my own template.
  22. I like Janet from Creative Gems and also Ginger from Flexible Molds.
