  1. Big thread on this subject on the Bitter Creek Board. Check it out. http://boards.bittercreek.com/tool/post/bittercreek/vpost?id=612913
  2. Check your state's revenue department website. That should have a link for you to check.
  3. I've never had a problem with FO's or wax being backordered but glassware can be sparse during the holiday rush. Shipping is a little slower too. I'd try to stock up now.
  4. Guess I'm the oddball here. I couldn't sell that scent for the life of me. I don't know if it was the name or the scent itself or what it was but I tried keeping the name, changing the name and never sold one. Pretty funny that I can sell Butt Naked no problem but Monkey Farts never sold. Oh well.
  5. I've only had problems with old ladies complaining about candles being too strong. I actually had a woman pretending to gag from the smell of one tealight burning in a 50x125 foot area. The scent of your candles is what sells them so if people don't like it, they can move!! Trae
  6. Just a word of advice when you try this.....wait till the gel thickens to an almost jelly consistency before you add the glitter and don't stir too much or you'll get TONS of bubbles, which makes it hard to see the glitter. Other from that, have a blast!! It looks really cool once you get the hang of it. Trae
  7. I'm trying to build up my stock since I took on extra days & hours at the preschool this school year. Prolly be pouring my gel pie in a jar candles plus start stocking up on blank hurricane shells and baskets for my basket candles. Starting to run low on FO so I need to start placing some orders for that. Also going to start painting my fall & xmas embeds for my gels.
  8. I also use zinc for all of my gels. More consistent burn than any others I've tried. :smiley2: Trae
  9. I live right outside of Philly and besides C&S, the only other local place to get one pour waxes is Candlewic and their prices are about the same. I think wax prices have gone up a lot in many areas. When I broke down my costs, it really didn't come out to be that much higher per candle. Where in Philly are you? Trae
  10. I got some from there last year, but they're always out! And I can have them picked up for me too. Problem is, sometimes they don't let you know when something is out of stock and I don't want to send DH on an extra trip from work if they don't have them. I was just hoping to get the ones from Big Lots because they are closer and cheaper. Hopefully they'll decide to carry them. Trae
  11. I have a pricelist from http://www.wickmanproducts.com. You can get silver or gold trimmers for $4.00 ea in increments of 12. You have to have a tax id# to get this price. You can sign up on the site to get the wholesale catalog. They also sell refillable lighters, snuffers and displays for the trimmers. HTH. Trae
  12. and they don't have the pumpkin jars w/witch hats! I'm sooooo bummed. I've been stalking the place for like two weeks and all they have is the really big pumpkin jars with the knobbed lid like Michael's sells. Except they were painted orange. This sucks!! Oh well, guess I can't get them local this year. Hope you guys have better luck than me. Trae
  13. My big sellers last year in those jars were pumpkin pie and harvest. Tracy
  14. Kewl! My daughter and I have been making weekly trips there. Hopefully they're not gone when I get there!!
  15. Don't go by C&S's website for stock availability. I ordered lock-lid jars from there a few months ago and the website showed them as being in stock and when my husband went to pick them up, they never told him they weren't included in the order, just gave him everything else I had ordered. He remembered that I was supposed to get jars and when he asked, it was then that they told him they weren't in stock and wouldn't be for months. They never contacted me beforehand either. My point after all that rambling is to call or e-mail to check. Tracy
  16. I usually buy mine in bulk from Oriental Trading. If you need them for this weekend, you might want to try some of the dollar stores. If you can't find fish, maybe you could make some bar soap with some jewelry or erasers inside. I make them and call them treasure soap. Have fun! Trae
  17. Just hit AC Moore the other day myself. Bought some roly votive glasses and straight votive glasses by the case. Always stockin' up on those kind of sales!! Trae
  18. I've used Rose's pie in a jar molds, but she rips you off big time with shipping. I use Creative Gems and Flexible Molds now.
  19. you're gonna come across that a lot in this business. Last year I offered to make candle favors for my niece for her wedding, for free no less, as part of her wedding gift. She never gave me an answer and when I sat down at the table at the reception, she had Yank-- votives as the favors. You'll also find people who will go to the dollar store or WalMart and buy them just because they're cheap. That's people for ya! Don't let it get you down. Trae
