  1. I sold a lot last Christmas. People bought them as gag gifts. I put 2 in a bag for $1. To make it easier, I bought one of those mini hay bales from the craft store and just pulled pices out of that to make the chips. Just keep the straw in a bag because it gets everywhere. Have fun with it!
  2. Things are getting pretty busy for me. I just finished one fundraiser with one more ending this week and another starting next week. I have a home party booked for Nov 17th, a vendor day the 18th, school Holiday Shoppe on the 27th and my annual open house the first weekend in December. I just got an order yesterday for 94 jelly jars from a teacher who is giving them as gifts. I hope I can fit it all in!!
  3. I make them using straw. Kinda gross looking but they work great!
  4. I started using 1.5 oz hex jars from C&S because of the scents in the tins starting to mix up. Works much better.
  5. I've never had a problem with the molds I got from Rose but she DEFINITELY rips you off on shipping. I use Janet and also Ginger from Flexible Molds.
  6. Try here: www.wickmanproducts.com If you have a tax id # you can get wholesale pricing. I think they're around $4 ea wholesale.
  7. I love this scent but for some reason I couldn't get a wick to work with it. I use it for aroma ornies and dipped pinecones.
  8. If you use a presto pot to melt your wax, keep it at the warm setting. When I keep it there it's the perfect temp for pouring. The wax should start clouding over and setting up almost right after you pour into the molds. I use a dixie cup bent to a point to pour into them. Have fun!
  9. I've only tried NG's Granny's Pecan Pie and it throws great in J-50.
  10. Well, I ended up making a column on the order form for the sales tax to be added. I explained everything to my friend, who has a son on the team, so she could explain it to the team mom. The team mom is kinda dense so I put everything in easy terms and added that I'm covering my a$$. If the coach wants all payments coming directly to me, then this is how it is! Thanks for all the help.
  11. I got mine here.... http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/scrubs/product.asp?product_id=HL101N
  12. I start pouring Christmas scents to build stock in the summer, but on my website I have a list of seasonal scents that are offered year round. I have people that buy pumpkin pie any time of year.
  13. I'm going to be starting a fundraiser with a local soccer team. Youth sports leagues are not tax exempt in my state. The coach of the team wants all checks and cash to come to me and me cut them a check for their percentage instead of the checks being made out to the league and the league giving me a check. Even if the league WAS tax exempt, wouldn't I have to charge sales tax anyway since the checks are coming to me? The team mom is having a tough time understanding this so I want to make sure I'm correct. Thanks!
  14. How about using pins that maybe have a white ball on the end, similar to quilter's pins? I use sequin pins to put silk flowers on wedding pillars but since you want to do lace, the white pins might work better.
  15. Those wicks never worked for me either so I use CD-3's from C&S. They work great.
  16. I made hot cocoa candles with the xmas mug for the last two holiday seasons and they worked fine. Sold out every year.
  17. I use the 60Z with J50 and it works perfectly! :smiley2:
  18. I'm one of those having a bugger of a time wicking palm pillars. Right now, looks like LX 24's are working the best. It's frustrating because RRD's were the most highly recommended wicks for plam, but I had a blowout every time. Let us know how you make out with your kit.
  19. NG's Fresh Fruit Slices is a best seller for me.
  20. To me it smells like grape Bubble Yum. Kids like it but was never a big seller for me.
  21. For painting on candles, you'll need to wipe the candle down with alcohol to get some of the surface oil off, then mix your paint with candle painting medium. I don't know about your area, but I've been having a tough time finding the medium in craft stores so I ordered several bottles from here: http://www.craft-supplies-online.com/productdetail.asp?item_nbr=345-DS39-2 As for glass paint, I use Apple Barrel Indoor/Outdoor Gloss acrylic paint. You can find that with other acrylic paints at WalMart or Michael's. HTH!
  22. That's what I figured but I also thought it would encourage people to actually burn the candle instead of using it for decoration. That way once the wax gets low, they'll see what the design turns into. I might buy a set and give it a try. Could always use them as gifts otherwise.
