  1. I've tried the silk and satin. Its very nice. I just prefer the goats milk. BTW-- I believe the goats milk lotion has shea and aloe in it too along with the honey.
  2. Well its good to see you posting again AJ! I hope you stick around. People here can sure use your soaping expertise. This Is a super duper lovely basic soap recipe. I still use it today and it was what got me started soaping. Another great thing about it is all the ingredients you can get locally.
  3. Just wanted to give this a to make sure more people get to see this thread. We are going to be seeing a lot more of this malware effecting businesses in the coming year.
  4. Its actually soy and paraffin candles. The container wax is soft so folks like to run their fingers on it or gouge it. Had the problem all the time doing shows. Can't tell you how many times I had to heat gun the tops to level the fingermarks and gouges out. When I finally switched to palm no more problems. Palm wax is hard to the touch and you can't gouge it or leave fingermarks.
  5. ED $46.70 for 4oz (3% solution in jojoba oil) FNWL $326.60 for 1oz I think I answered my own question. I forgot the cheap one was diluted. I just remembered the huge price swings. I've noticed the same with ginger EO. Big price swings from one supplier to another.
  6. I actually use them in my CP soap salt bars. But I mix them with other sea salts. I'm sure you could do this with bath salts. Just use a % of dead sea salts and mix with other salts.
  7. I think I will have to pick up a sample of this next time I get some FOs there.
  8. Pure Fragrance Oils has the best Lavender FO followed by CS. Depends on how much you want to spend on your lavender. Got my lilac from BW.
  9. I guess I am a lightweight as I only have 13 assorted molds for CP. But that's probably because I have not tried making any other than the PVC and Pringle can molds. Like Talltayl I am finding I want my molds, or at least my production molds, to be a standardized size so they are all the same size and I can churn soap out faster. I think the 2.5 x 4" is a good size JC. Sounds perfect!
  10. Well the red color is definitely more of a raspberry now. I think my camera was picking that up all along. Its still very pretty and I think if I doubled the amount or added a touch of red oxide it could be a truer red. But I think its a keeper anyway. Its so pretty in the soap. Here are some cut pics:
  11. Thanks everyone for looking. No I don't do videos. I don't have a camera or video cam for that. My camera is a cheap digital cam I got several years ago to take pics for my website. It is sadly way out of date and doesn't do well with lighting or closeups. Plus the video part uses so much battery to record its pretty much useless except for very short 10-30 second vids. Will try to get around to cutting this batch today and post cut pix.
  12. It may come to the point where we will have to start shrink wrapping the container tops! Seems to me I had this problem when I made soy candles. Now that I make palm container candles either I don't notice the tops being touched or its that the surface of the wax is so hard you can't gouge it or smudge it the same as with soy wax.
  13. No its not a magenta. It just came out that way in the pics. I noticed the pics look like there is some bluish/purplish hues in it but the real soap is definitely red without a trace of magenta/blue/purple/pink. Sorry I have poor lighting and a crap camera. In the pics it looks like a raspberry color but its not.
  14. Here's a pic of the old batch I made with the red vibrance. You can really tell the difference. The Really Red is red and the Red Vibrance is more clay colored:
  15. This time I used Nurture's Really Red and Orange Vibrance. I can't get over how gorgeous the red color came out in the CP soap!... plus, the orange EO is sticking so far and smells heavenly! It should mellow out a little and then the spice will be stronger once its cured. Can't wait to cut this baby and see how the red is inside!! BTW-- the pics don't do it justice. It looks a bit pinkish in the pic but the real thing is much more red. So far the best red I have seen in CP! So glad I got this sample!!
  16. Lavender, Mistletoe, and Bayberry Apple Spice.
  17. I know exactly what you mean! LOL I have a long list of things I want to do and not enough time to get done!
  18. Nice candle. The top looks nice and smooth. I've never used any of the golden brands waxes. How does it throw? Or are you still curing it?
  19. I know you like to add stuff to the tops so I would definitely make it a little taller than you expect for your soap size. So if you normally make a 3.5" then a 3.75" or 4" sounds about right for you! Oh boy! Hope you share pics of the mold you make!
  20. Gawd I hate wax gougers! Can't tell you how irked I get when I open a candle and someone has literally gouged out a chunk or rift in the surface. Arghhh! I like Tops' direct approach. Or--- find one of those old fashioned wooden spanking paddles they used to use in schools or make one. Put a sign next to it that if you touch the wax you get a good paddlin!
  21. I got the orange 10x from The Chemistry Store. BB also carries it.
  22. I use soapcalc. It has a lot more information that others I have seen. Plus I like to print out my recipe and have the graph and all the calculations and soap properties on paper so I can use it while I am soaping.
  23. Who sells one like what you want to make? I would just go to the website that has one and read their measurements. I am guessing thou that it would be 2.25" x 3.5"? I don't know either. Guess I am not much help!
  24. Not from my experience. Its a shame because an orange scented soap is wonderful. As a matter of fact I have not had any fragrances benefit from trying to use clay as an anchor. I have tried recipes both with and without clay to see if it really anchors and scent and so far have not seen that it makes one bit of difference. BTW-- I just made a batch of orange spice soap scented with orange 10x, clove, cinnamon, and litsea EOs, and some honey FO. This is my second batch using 10x orange. I still have some of the original orange spice soaps and they just keep getting better with age. Sold a bunch of them last week. So orange can be done its just you have to use a strong enough one like the 10 fold (10x) orange or higher. Plus the litsea helped to give the scent a stronger and 'sharp' citrus note that lasts so its a pretty good anchor.
