  1. Sorry this will not help you. Here is another method of making pilars without a wick when pouring. To me this is the fastest & easiest method to making pillars. I don't like flat or other wicks for pillars, they are just to flimsy & to me don't burn very well. I also hate the plugs, screws & putty. I like the quick & easy method of pouring pillars without a wick. Make sure the bottom of the mold is clean. If it's a tin mold just cover the wick hole with a business card magnet. If it's an aluminum mold first palce a piece of duct tape over the wick hole and smooth out any wrinkles then place a piece of metal aluminum tape over the other tape and smooth out. To make the pillar I use the wick centering tool http://www.wickcenteringtool.com/default.asp?S=500&A=F&SearchText=&CategoryID=&NID=3453555 The rod just sits into the wick hole, which is covered & no leaking. Once the pillar is finished you pill the rod out then remove the candle from the mold. Then you insert either a pre primed & tabbed wick or a primed wick without a tab. Tabbed or un-tabbed is weather the candle holder has the metal spike. Just thought I would show you another method for pillars.
  2. The slab wax I use comes in boxes and I have a small amount of debris in every box, but not like you are describing. Some is a tiny bit of dirt & the other is part of the cardboard box. I have a large 100LB melter, that I first melt the wax in and I can see the debris in the bottom of the tank. When I weigh out wax into pouring pots I strain the wax through paper towel lined metal strainer. This method catches, even the smallest amount of debris. BTW - A whole box has less than 1/8 tsp per box.
  3. Yes, it does. Very strong thrower.
  4. Bitter Creek South is strong both cold & hot. My customers that like Circle E say BCS is better than the original. http://www.bittercreeksouth.com/fobcs.htm
  5. If it's an insert then you could try an un-mounted rubber stamp. Rub a little mineral oil on the back of the rubber stamp and stick to the inside of the mold where you want it. I'm just not sure if you can get the candle out of the mold or not, but worth a try.
  6. No, the heat of the fire burns away all the wax.
  7. I sell refresher oil & tell my customers they can add up to 1/4 oz more FO before they need to change the wax and start with a fresh wax melt. I have tested this for many years without a problem. I also tell the customer if you add more than this it could be a fire hazzard. This for electric potpourri pots & oil burners NOT the tealight burners.
  8. I know it's a typo, I just thought it was funny.
  9. They are real easy to make... Line a muffin tin with paper cupcake liners, fill with ceader pet bedding (1 bag will make hundreds), pour scrap wax over ceader, till full. Wait till completely cool and pop out. To use... Loosen an edge of the paper, place between logs, light paper (you don't need a wick), that's it. They will burn for up to 20 minutes.
  10. Yes, 1 scent per container. As far as Christmas scents, I can't help you much. I use to offer many Christmas scents and a lot of different ones, that you could not find here. I don't sell many holiday sents, of any kind. Most, 90%, of my customers are buying gifts and don't want a holiday container or holiday scent.
  11. Hey Ducky, We posted at the same time. Great Minds think alike.
  12. I use wick trimmers, that I sale in my store. They trim to a perfect 1/4". http://www.cleancut.com/Products/WickTrimmer.aspx If you don't have one or don't want to ge one, here is something you can do. Thread a pony beed on the wick down to the wax, then trim the wick, with toenail clippers flush with the bead, you get a 1/4" that way.
  13. Great looking soap. They are so crisp & clean with perfect beveled edges, no wavey edges at all, just perfect. The photo & presentation is great, too. I guess you can tell by this post, I don't let anybody see anything of mine, if it's less than perfect. I'm my own worst critic.
  14. Great looking soap. The pic looks great, too. What kind & how many lights did you use? Did you use 3 lights top & both sides?
  15. This is not mine, but here is a photo of what they look like.
  16. Those look great. You know there is the AVON dupe of "Little Black Dress" FO from SOS. You might suggest that scent to her. http://www.saveonscents.com/product_info.php/products_id/3342
  17. Yep, it's hard to come up with anything new, on this board.
  18. I typed in cyclo in the search this forum, in the B&B section & I got 7 pages with great info about cyclo. Here is the one you need, It is titled cyclomethicone ratio http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42175&highlight=cyclo It was on page 2 of the 7, so not a lot of searching.
  19. About receipts... I'm very bad with paperwork and receipts but I try this when I can. I have found some receipts to be very vage in the discription of what the product is. When I get back to the office I try to scan the receipt into the computer and then explain what each and every line on the receipt what it is & what I use it for (ex- office supplies, candle making equiptment etc.) That way IF you ever get audited you know exactly what the item is and what it was used for. Aslo about the scanning in the computer. I find that thermal receipts will fade or turn black over time, so if you scan them into the computer you have a back-up copy. You can also print out the copy of the receipt, with the detailed info on it, and attach the original to it and file that. I would still have the original attached, even if it turned totally black, because just the copy will not fly with the IRS.
  20. I can tell you wat I souldn't have done. That is not wasting all my money on things that I thought I should have or can't live without. Also buying a lot of stuff you think you will make later sometime, only to find out you don't want to or don't have time to. Also buying things like B&B stuff that has a short shelf life. Then you have to try and sell it on here in the classifides to only get 1/2 of less what you paid for it. Thought I would throw that in there, because we need all the money we can to keep this addiction going.
  21. Search Cyclo in the B&B section, you will find your answer. To use the search there are 2 ways. One is at the top right of the main page in the blue bar. The second way is in each section, look up in the upper right and click on search this forum or search this thread. I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just trying to help you learn how to use this board better.
  22. Well that's not very accurate. Packages travel by truck amoung thousands of other packages and may be in the middle of it all those other packages and be just fine. They also travel by plane and at higher altitudes, where it is cooler, especially at night. Packages also are inside buildings during shipping. The best way to test is to send a package to someone you know, far away, and ask them what condition they received it in. Also you don't want a package to sit outside when it gets delivered. Always request that the customer uses an address that the package will be left inside an air conditioned building.
  23. It is free untill you get caught. In the back of my mind it would always haunt me, though, so I would't do it, myself. Their is royalty free photos, clipart, and images out there. Some sites are totaly free or just a small sample and some charge you a monthly fee for all they have to offer and yet others charge you a 1 time fee. Some have stipulations on how you can use the images. Some say you can use them for personal use but not for use to gain profit, as in a business.
  24. A lot of suppliers use to buy their molds and sell them. It could be some they already had from them. Also all tin molds look the same, so how would you know where or who made it?
