  1. Back to the subject, at hand. There is "sand" wax out there. It is wax as fine as sand. You just place a wick in the container then pour the "sand" wax in, either solid or layered colors then heat gun the top so it doesen't spill. All of the "sand" wax out there is un-scented. Here is just one place for "sand" wax http://www.flameworld.com/candles/asp/candle-sand-wax.aspx
  2. All the directions out there say to heat at high temps. Dose the sand stick at such a low temp? You need a thick coat of sand of about 1/2".
  3. I have tried every dye out there and could not get it to work. I thought I had it with the oil base B&B liquid color but after siting for a while, it didn't work either. So now I just print my labels to match the color of the loation and shower gel, so they still look like a matching set.
  4. Sorry but no they aren't. They require very high temps to pour, around 250*F-300*F, which is very dangerous.
  5. You know you have one of the largest suppliers in your state BCN, but not the only one in your state. That might make it harder for you because they can keep their prices low because of the volume they buy.
  6. 8oz Jelly Jars hold 8oz's of liquid but only 6-6.5oz's of wax. Yes you can use a scale and %'s to figure out exact amounts, but I can't explain math very well.
  7. I have to disagree, that brand is the worst for drying out my hands. But like anything else, we each have our own likes & dislikes and each person can have different reactions to this product.
  8. It is called FO Modifier Here is just one place to get it http://www.chemistrystore.com/fragrancemodifier.htm Just google Fragrance Oil Modifier to find other suppliers, for the nearest & best priced supplier.
  9. Site looks great. This does not sound right... Payment We accept payment in the form of cash, money orders, and electronic transfers through our shopping cart. You may also pay by credit card by selecting the PayPal payment method at checkout. How can you take cash through the computer? You need to state money orders are to be mailed to "your address" or just mailed. Then the address will be on the shopping cart. What is an electronic transfer? Is it a direct transfer from a checking account? You need to explain and how to use it.
  10. Try Bitter Creek, it's not near as drying as the store bought brands. Also the store brands have limited scents that stink.
  11. That wick looks off center. I don't know if it's the wick hole, that's off center, or if the wick is burning off center. That wick may work if it stayed centered. The two sides look thick enough for that wick. Like I said, wick needs to burn more toward the sides and point.
  12. If the supplier does not store tin molds properly they can and will rust, humid conditions can cause rust. Even if you get new molds that are fine that can rust on you. To store new molds, coat them with a thin coat of mineral oil and store them out of humid areas.
  13. Those ingredents & description sound like a rustic.
  14. Additives You could but I wouldn't recommend it bacause pillar wax has a higher melt point and would require a larger wick. Container wax has a lower melt point and would not require as large of a wick, to melt the wax, so the glass container would be cooler and safer.
  15. I use vinyl inkjet labels from www.onlinelabels.com and Epson printer www.epson.com with Dura Bright ink that is waterproof and smudge proof and 100 year against fading also had no problems with labels turning yellow or the ink fading. This workes great for both candle & B&B labels, they hold up great in the shower. BTW - These vinyl labels are not gloss they are matte.
  16. If the company, that owns the TM, thinks it's to close they will go after those too.
  17. Sure you can, just keep them out of the light and in a cool place. The best thing to use is Amber Glass.
  18. Thanks, Y'all I'll test more scents and see which throws better. This reed testing is more expensive and takes longer than candles. I just hate that I can't get faster repete business because the diffuser base last for months per reed diffuser. Unless they want others for different areas or a different scent.
  19. Here is another post about heart pillar melt pools http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46214&highlight=heart+pillars
  20. Yes I hate to change scent names because of TM's but its for the best. Marketing of scent names is hard. If you have customers that know and like those names, and the name is different, then you may not be able to convince them that name is the same as the original, I have that problem with some, people are strange. Some people just can't belive the scent is the same if it's not named or colored the same as the original. Then you have to explain, to each custome, that candle is just like "______TM".
  21. I like the look of a mottle, just not the throw because you can't add as much FO as you can with a smooth candle with additives.
  22. I do use the proper rattan reeds. I have never heard or seen mine bubble, at the tips, and they do feel damp. I use 12" reeds in a 6" bottle that holds 3oz's of liquid. Is it better to use a bottle that holds more oz's, or does that matter? What %'s do you use?
  23. I like the 3" rounds, they burn the best, when properly wicked. Any other size or shape will not give you a complete burn, so you have wasted wax. Other shapes, along with the 3" rounds, if the top is big enough, I only make as an everlasting.
