  1. I don't use the clear top either. I use the solid. It has been my experience that most customers put out their candles with the lid. I they were to do it with these clear plastic lids they will melt them. If you choose to use these you would need to put a warning on them to NOT extingiush the candle with the lid plastic will melt. These lids do look nice so you can see the color of the candle through them. But as I stated above they may not use them correctly.
  2. Where is the best place with the best price and not a huge quanity to buy wick dippers wholesale?
  3. I use Beading Cord elastic you get @ Wal-Mart in the sewing section not the craft section. It comes as 5 yards and is priced 87 cents then I cut mine to 10 inches each. That length works just fine to streach around the mirror. BTW it only comes in white. I also use the 1/8" hole punch for the hole.
  4. Yep, they are right! An 8oz Jelly Jar will hold 8oz's of liquid and approx. 6oz's of wax by weight - the jar weight.
  5. I found this site that has a great idea when burning votives in a 'cane. http://www.candlesmithchicago.com/candle_hurricanes.html
  6. I get mine from http://www.naturesgardencandles.com/candlemaking-soap-supplies/item/rf-031 Here is the discription This unique fragrance begins with top notes of fresh bananas and juicy grapefruit, middle notes of kiwi, juicy bubblegum, and strawberries; and a hint of vanilla as a base note.
  7. I use http://www.bravenet.com/ There prices, packages and options were right for me. I'm still working on my site because I have to do it myself. I don't want to pay someone to do it for me and I'm so picky how my site looks. I don't know if I will ever get orders just by people searching I'm only making a site for my customers and when my customers tell other about my products. I'm getting more and more orders out of state just from refferals.
  8. I sell alot of it and did not change the name. I have some customers that really like the scent but I think most buy it just for the name as a GAG gift. I use a cute monkey graphic on my labels. I also have a sign with the same monkey on it with a thought bubble that says "Phew, What's that smell?" The first, and most heavy, note I smell is Bananna then other fruits.
  9. Yep, you can get a fuel smell with some citrus scents. You really have to test citrius scents to find the ones that don't have that fuel smell when they are burned. If you only get the fuel smell in wax, that you burn, then don't worry just use that scent in non burning products like wax melts, room spray, wickless candles etc.
  10. Here are some I found some are the spray and some the liquid http://www.discountcandleshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/2059 http://www.betterbee.com/products.asp?dept=820 http://www.candlechem.com/additives.htm http://www.candlewic.com/Store/category.asp?catalog_name=Candle+Making+Supplies&category_name=Candle+Glaze&Page=1
  11. A brand I have from Wal-Mart says 62% of 91% Ethel Alcohol. So I guess you could go from there with the alo vera gel and FO to make it work for you. Here are some places I found some recipes http://www.momsbudget.com/cleaners/handsanitizer.html http://www.theswap.com/cookbook2/sefer.cgi?display:1024024937-59820.txt http://www.milwaukeemoms.com/recipes/playrecipe.cfm?ID=11 http://www.kitchencraftsnmore.net/handsanitizer.html http://www.scentedvisions.com/recipes/recipe.php?recipeid=165 http://www.everydaymoms.com/makeyourown/household/handsanitizer.html http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/form_handsan.html
  12. I use a shot glass that has measurements on it. I pour 1/4oz of cyclo and then 1/4 FO then mix with a tooth pick. I then chart what scent and the company it came from and if it mixed or not. I then fold up a paper towel onto a piece of foil and pour that sample onto it then give it to someone to use in their car as a free sample.
  13. I found something that would work for sample sniffers. I found some metal tins, like the one's we use to make candles in, at Wal-Mart they are 1oz in size and they are called spice tins. They come 3 to a pack for .94 cents. They are located around the kitchen section. They don't have the clear lids they are solid. You would have to make or find something to put them in to carry them. Even if you don't use them for sample sniffers they would be good to use as a FREE give away wicked candle sample. Candle Man
  14. If you located anywhere close to the cattle that may be a good thing!
  15. For the color NO because for soap it is water base and you need oil base color for candles. For the FO Most that are soap safe can usually be used for candles but not all candle scents are safe for soap. You just need to check where you get your scents from if they are skin safe. Most suppliers list what their scents can be used for.
  16. Those do look great! IMO for the photo with the yellow just doesn't work. Try some barn wood and /or burlap. That would make them look so country.
  17. I can sell mine for $6.00 in my area. I also offer a discount when they buy in 3's. Buy 2 get 1 half off which ='s $5.00 each.
  18. Every area is different in what scents sell. What sells in my area may not sell in your area. I have a wholesale customer 35 miles away in a larger town than mine and she can't sell Sweet Pea, or Bird of Paradise (Circle E Candle dupe) when I sell them very well. You could go to some of your local shops that sell candles and just act like a customer and ask what scents sell for them. I own a retail shop and have found people have a sence of smell just like a sence of taste they each have their likes and dislikes. I have also found that some people tell me they smell a certain note (scent) in a candle when there is not any of that scent in that candle. People just smell things differently.
  19. If you have a non-stick teflon craft sheet you may need use that inside the bag so the image doesen't get on the other side.
  20. Here is where you can find them http://www.sunshinecontainer.com/candles.htm Here are the photos of some of them.
  21. They do look very nice. It was hard for me to figure out the name. I'm just not sure people can make out Lip Smoochers though. Maybe the letter O's with lips over them.
  22. Like some of the others said I think they would look better on the Kraft label in a Dark Brown or sepia tone to give that old photo look. You can change your photo into a sepia-tone in a graphics program. Here is what I found on a search to give you an idea.
  23. I use liquid black to the black color chips just to be able to use up the chips. Now I only use liquid black for black because I find it is a truer black without that purple cast.
