  1. That's what I was going to say Sharon. Only $5.75/lb when you buy a gallon from BCN or BCS.
  2. Yea it is for me too. I think the Hurricane has caused slow business because of HIGH Gas prices & cost of living not going up to help offset it. Also the un-certainty of what is yet to come from the hurricane. There will be alot of items with price increases from the hurricane because the gulf port not being able to receive products to get to the consumer. I think alot of people are not getting out as much and really watching their money during this time. I hope it picks up for the holidays but IMO I think this is going to be a slow holiday season in sales. I need some items but am holding off buying anything right now until I see how things turn out with the economy the way it is.
  3. Yea like they said "Whip it, Whip it Real Good".
  4. I use two that are not as heavy as some of the other earthy scents. Oilve Leaves from Lone Star Candle Supply in TX Mandarin Bamboo from Tradewinds Fragrance Company in South Carolina
  5. Yes I posted this on the old board awhile back. It is for wicking jars (NOT to hold the wick center while the candle cools). It is the best thing since slice bread to wick jars faster and centered every time and works for many size jars. When they get the multi wick setter ready for sale that will will be a must have too.

  12. Most wicks that are primed with wax you will be able to curl.
  13. Are pre-primed & tabbed votive wicks hard to get "Down Under"?

  15. Bleach may harm the mold. Try some candle wax remover or FO (FO will take candle dye off of counters). You could just pour un-colored wax in the mold several times to see if that will work. So you don't waste the wax you could remelt the wax to make wax melts with it.
  16. I just called one of my suppliers and they talked to them and said none of the popular J,s or IGI will be discontinued and no final answer from IGI will be until next fall. So we have at least a year until we know for sure. So next summer, when it's slow, we may need to look into this again and see where there at on this then maybe test new wax. Now the palm waxes will most likely be discontinued because they are hard to produce & get raw materials and don't sell well but again this won't be known until next fall.
  17. That is the nature of the beast. The only way I've been able to avoid frosting or rough tops is to blend soy with some container paraffin. I have heard some mix Bees Wax with soy. That way the soy is still all natural. You can mix it 50/50 or anywhere in between. If you dont want to compermise the 100% Soy thing then you will just have to live with the imperfections. Soy & Bees Wax is still 100% Natural just an All Natural Soy Blend if you can live with that.
  18. I get mine here http://www.oakcourtcreations.com/ but they come white and you have to color them yourself. There are directions on the site for coloring & decorating them. She is great to work with and the blanks are good quality.
  19. Check with the Manager of the store near you and see if they will transfer them in. I've had other stores do that before but you might have to wait awhile.
  20. When I tell my customers how to properley extingiush a candle alot of them tell me they just put the lid on it because they don't like the smoke when they blow it out.
  21. What is happening is you are waiting to long to re-pour and the wax in the jar has cooled to the point that it has pulled away from the jar. Thus when you re-pour the hot wax goes between the cooled wax and the jar. You are letting the wax in the jar cool to long before you re-pour. You need to pour sooner but not too soon. You will have to figure out the best time to re-pour and it will depend on the room temp. also. If the room temp. is warmer you can waite longer to re-pour but if the room temp. is cooler you will have to re-pour sooner.
  22. It really does look good but you need to find a way to do that in less time if you want to sell them. Maybe a drimmel tool or use that candle as a master and make a silicone mode of it so you can make more faster.
  23. I have yet to get this technique down. But I did found something that helped with the bubbles from the paper. I pealed off a photo from a 'cane that did not turn out and used it for another test. Since it was already coated with wax it did not cause bubbles or as many because of the coating of wax. So now I alwaws dip the photo in the pot of wax till the bubbles are gone then I lay it on wax paper to dry. Then I use that photo in the 'cane. How do you get the photo to stay stuck to the side of the mold before you put it in the water bath? I find if I'm doing a double sided 'cane I get the first side stuck then by the time I get the second side stuck the heat of the wax causes the first to come un-stuck. I've tried cold wet rag and ice cubes both. Hope others have some tips for these 'canes. These 'canes are a PITA. Any other great tips from successful 'cane makers? I could sell lots of these if I could get this down. Thanks for any help Candle Man
