  1. I just buy full sheet labels and cut my own with my Blade Runner and a template. Works every time.
  2. I'm guessing it is Alabaster's APOP. It's a house blend with the best properties of both. No, you don't need any additives excetpt UV inhibitor.
  3. hi! I don't know how far south you are, but Alabaster is in Louisville. I used Hobby Lobby wax in the beginning...it's not a bad wax and if you get it on sale, it's good. I think the wax I buy from a supplier (I use 1343) is "cleaner" - less junk floating around in it. And buying by the case (or pallet, some day) is cheaper in the long run. Have fun and post some pics for us!
  4. Even if I'm using the wick pins inside concave molds, I use a blob of sealer on the wick hole.
  5. And PRACTICE reading it! I had stuff going every which way cuz I had to back up and start again. It was a lot of fun, though.
  6. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. (Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die! Mary Frye (1932) My favorite!
  7. Those pillars rock! Where have you been? I need my inspiration! Thanks for sharing
  8. http://www.candlemaking.org.uk/candleparties.html It does get easier...practice with family or friends. Explain to your guests that it is your first time and you are nervous. Hand out cards asking for feedback - what was good, what needs improvement. Draw from the feedback cards and give away a gift. (Encourages them to fill out something!) Then take the suggestions and compliments to heart. Just like anything else, the more you do it the more you learn & the better you get.
  9. Oh, yeah, another fan of the angle here! I work at a sign company and got the guys to cut me a piece from the scrap bin. I used to struggle with leveling, but not any more. I use an old cookie sheet on top of a pan of water. I also have a 6" level with a magnet on it. I stick the level to the angle....my angle is level, my pillar is level.
  10. Hello. I don't do M&P but my daughter plays around with it. I bought her some cute little Christmas ducks from Oriental Trading Co. Is there any special instructions needed for embedding the ducks in soap? I've searched and haven'f found anything. Someone mentioned instructions on WSP, but I couldn't find them either. TIA
  11. A lot of stuff - you need a contract and some details...search this forum for consignment and you will find 26 threads with all kinds of info. sorry your show sucked
  12. For my cast iron skillet, I rubbed with steel wool, coated with oil and put in a hot oven. If you have a self cleaning oven, it's wonderful...gets really hot.
  13. Got a Big Lots, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Old Time Pottery, something in your area? Check them out. You could also think outside of the box...find a pretty bowl, a platter or one of the samll crates in the office supplies section. That makes the basket usefull, too.
  14. How about some insulated drapes? maybe check Big Lots?
  15. you guys are killing me! A s long as we are giving helpful hints...even if you DO put the top on the dye bottle all the way...don't shake your dye bottle when you are mad at someone and thinking about the recent argument instead of the fact that you just meant to give the bottle a little shake, not splatter navy blue polka dots EVERYWHERE. Orange De-Solv it works for me!
  16. I use www.craftlister.com alot...it's free to look. You can search for more info if you need it. Also, if you add shows you know about that aren't listed or leave comments about shows you did, you get free membership. I also use my state website and my local newspaper has an on-line search for events.
  17. yes, you might be slightly crazy! Here's my two-cents worth. Buy a votive making kit (Peak) and makes some votives and TEST each votive you make. Fragrance and dye can affect burns in different ways. Then buy 12-15 tight fitting votive holders. Place the votive holders with votives inside the mason jars and decorate the mason jars. You don't want to give a gift that is going to shatter and spill hot wax all over your family's furniture, or worse, burn their house down. Candle making is more of a science than most people realize, but if you take your time, TEST and do it right, it can be most rewarding.
  18. 51Z should be fine in an 8 oz jj...and you really need to give it a couple of burns to know how it's going to do. I burn 4 hours normally - all day long for marathon burning.
  19. I can't tell you in technical terms, but something is wrong with the "links" page. The text is all cut off. What size are your bars of soap? I didn't see that listed. The site looks very nice and I didn't see any typos.
  20. I'm not a "bear" person, but that bear seemed to fit....now that I see the girl with tea, I've changed my mind. It's just the feel of that type of pic....the purple seems modern and not what I associate with scentimental.
  21. YEE HAW! Those are wonderful....very professional looking!
  22. I really like the bear....to me, seems sentimental, relaxing both are good, but the bear does it for me
  23. I was going for BRIGHT...but I might have gotten carried away. I'll find some other use for that material. Amanda's side is actually mint green, but because it is satiny, it reflected that flash really well!
