Anjie, more lovely rustic sets - you really have got a good thing going here. :highfive: I like the small size as well. I love the fact that your white layer is really "white" (if that makes sense) and you must have poured the coloured layer at the perfect temp so no noticable bleeding into the white. Did you swirl the white up the side a bit and this covered a small part of the coloured area? Hope you do not mind if I ask a couple more questions : Do the candles glow at all when the t-lite is lit and do you scent the whole candle or just the t-lite? Thanks. Sarah:smiley2:

Those look great. Great Christmas colour - what scent are they? As for the fragrance supply - that amount of scents is something I dream of having one day.

Wowzers, those are fantastic pillars. Love the display set up and lucky people getting gifts that are handmade and look and smell that good. I especially love the pomegranate and matching coloured t-light.

Hi Sabrina, great news that you can get your wax cheaper, but what a pain to have to start experimenting again, when you had such a hit with the other wax. Hope you have success with increasing the pouring temp - let us know how you get on.

Well at least you put a warning behind the subject, but I nearly spat my drink all over my computer! Hilarious, but at the same time not too sure about these. Maybe you could market them for Hen parties. Please do not be offended but I had a right laugh at the NORTY spelling - (correct spelling is Naughty), unless it was intended - then I apologise. I think marketing them as Naughty (Norty) novelty melts is a good idea though and wonder what other shapes you could possibly have up your sleeve - well I can think of a couple!:smiley2:

Rustics can be a real trial and error and I was just wondering though, if I pour the last layer fairly hot, will that not heat up the rest of the mould and destroy the frosting/rustic effect? I find that sometimes I have to use a cold cloth around the bottom part of my mould so that I keep the frosting if I pour the next layers hotter and sometimes it does not work. Do you only pour the last layer once the previous layer is really set up? Thanks, Sarah.

Thanks for sharing pictures and techniques of your beautiful candles. They are all really stunning - quite a few different styles and the colours are great. The dipping in hot water technique creates some stunning candles - especially the brown one in the second pic and I love the chunk candle with the stars and butterflies. I have a question about one of the candles, if you do not mind sharing, - in the first photo, there is a fantastic green candle on the left next to the crackle pillars. It looks like the top is rustic and the bottom has a great mottle "snowflake" effect (vibrant green). How is that effect achieved. Do you pour the first two layers really cool and then the last hot? Appreciate your input.:smiley2:

Thanks for the reply. I only use 1 per pound, but add it after the fragrance oil and not too long before I pour the wax. Before this batch of chips I had quite a few bags from Alan at Candelicious (UK supplier - no longer in business), and never noticed this problem. He said that he got his chips from Pourette, so not sure where RE/AH supply comes from! I wonder if Candlechem has anything similar - maybe in block form?

I usually add it at about 165F. I will try a bit hotter. Thanks.

I think that is a really great looking cane for one of your firsts and it looks great lit up - a very nice sentiment. From what I have seen and read, they can be really hard to do (well lets say a lot of patience required) - I have not got up the nerve to do one yet! Very well done.

I recently purchased some cinnamon red chips from RE/AH and am having real trouble with them. When I melt them in my wax they leave small bits on the bottom of the pot and when I stir the wax I can see bits swirling all through the wax as well. I get a chop stick and try and bash the little bits on the bottom of the pot, but to no avail. Is it ok to use the wax with this sediment - I cannot see how I should sieve it to get rid of these bits. Anyone else have this problem? Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, you will probably get very mixed reactions regarding this question. Some people will harshly criticize C&S and others love them. I have been lucky enough to have had really good customer service from them and I love their oils. I especially love their Balsam and my customers cannot get enough of their Cinnamon and Cedar. Give them a try, one can never have too many FO´s!:rolleyes2

I love chunk votives, although I do not do them myself. Yours look very nice and the scent combination should be a hit. Hope they sell well for you.:smiley2: Do you scent the chunks and the overpour with the same % FO?

I started using some from RE/AH which was in powder form - extremely expensive, but I think it must be highly concentrated. Now I have switched to Peaks, it in the form of flakes, and I seem to be going through it at an increadible pace. I use 1/2 tsp per pound of wax, and so far it is great.

What type of candles are you making and I don´t understand the comment re: working with a rep? Thank you to Praireannie for being so gracious and giving you a sound bit of advice. I just know you are NOT going to sit and read through pages of advice here like I did day after day when I first started. I do not usually make a comment on this type of thread, but my blood pressure seriously rose when I read this. Take some time out, do some research, do some TESTING, have fun and good luck.
