  1. I need some tart warmers - NOT ELECTRIC - to sell with my tarts and cannot source them here in Iceland (well, not at a good price). Had a look at some US wholesale websites, but of course I do not have a Tax ID. I need a box of say 12 or 24 for Christmas. Does anyone know of a company that has a good variety of tart warmers and sends overseas?? Thanks.
  2. Those look great. Love the purple one. Wish I could receive a gift basket like that with all those goodies in it.:smiley2:
  3. Fantastic colour and great rustics as usual. Good luck with the show.
  4. Those are really super!! Love the packaging. How much do those hearts weigh each and do you only burn one at a time?
  5. Just wanted to say thanks for the replies. I have printed them out and gonna give it a try soon.:smiley2:
  6. I have long admired these candles and go and drool over them sometimes. The top to bottom glow is fascinating and I particularly love their leaf cubes and wilderness collections. They say on their site that it has taken many years to develop the "secret candle glow" and I cannot begin to fathom how it is done. Good luck with the experimenting and you may discover that you develop something unique along the way.:smiley2:
  7. That is one gorgeous candle. Stunning colour.:highfive:
  8. Hi Debscent, thanks for replying. I would just like to try something new and have about 15 votive moulds to start with!! I have masses of 1oz scents and thought I could maybe use these to make some chunk votives. Maybe I could make the chunks using one scent and then a complimentary scent for the overpour?? If I melt 1lb of wax for the chunks, cut this up small, then I guess I do not need much for the overpour. Guess I will have to experiment. Just writing down my thoughts sometimes helps, so maybe I have answered my own question.:embarasse Appreciate any tips you may have though.:smiley2:
  9. Thanks I did that, I´ve been a member of this board since March 2006 so always try and research my questions first, but the instructions are not for votive chunk candles. I even did a search and found some info that was helpful, but not specific.
  10. I would really appreciate some help with making chunk votives. Is there an efficient and practical approach to making these? Do I just melt and scent a pound of wax to make chunks and then do the same for the overpour? I just know I am going to make too many chunks and not have enough overpour if I do not get some advice from the good people of this board first. Would you mind explaining your method of making chunk votives, to get me started in the right direction. Thanks so much.
  11. I make and sell rustics and they are very popular. I have made some lovely smooth red pillars for Christmas, but my oh my, get a scratch on it, or fingerprints and what a hassle to remove them. I have tried the nylon stocking trick to buff them up, but they do not remain shiny doing that and get a stray piece of wax on it and then buff that and well I may as well chuck it back in the pot. So how do you keep your smooth looking pillars looking good? Oh, and in answer to your question - I do not think a picture can do justice to a rustic, make a few and I am sure there will be someone who will like them.
  12. I use a straight paraffin wax and use up to 3TBS Stearic per pound of wax. I do rustic layers and get a good frosting effect, but if I pour too cold (64°c), then I can get some of the frosting staying in the mould when I remove the candle. Try varying your pour temps and see what happens.:smiley2:
  13. Thanks everyone for the kind comments. :smiley2:
  14. Thought I would post a few pics of some of the rustics I have been making this past week. I am pretty happy with them. They are Balsam, Cinnamon and Cedar and Autumn Spice. Thanks for looking.
  15. Gosh Sabrina that is a wonderful basket of "goodies". :highfive: The cat embed candles are too cute. I like the way you have packaged your candles as well will the cello and tags. Good luck with the auction, sorry I cannot help you with your starting bid question, sure someone will help you though.
  16. Thanks Judy and Scented. I will definately pour hotter. I do not really want to add any more FO as the candle already feels quite oily - I guess the aim of a mottle is not to have any frosting, I just like the effect I have seen on here of the frosting and mottle effect some people get on their candles.
  17. MOTTLING!!! These are the pillars I was making the other evening when I posted a question about why the heck I could hardly poke any relief holes in the bottom of the candle to top up and then quite a lot of wax came "bubbling" out of the holes! Anyway, I used straight paraffin, Stearin was 4.5%, F.O. 5.3% and UV. I poured the first layer at 156°F and then increased the temp each layer. I heated the side of the mould, saw all those darn bubbles coming to the top of the layer, but still have masses on the surface of the candle. :rolleyes2 They look ok, rustic is the style I do anyway, but I wanted a MOTTLE!! Should I use more FO? Pour much hotter? This wax will mottle as you can see by the pic of the bottom of the candle. Any tips, suggestions greatly appreciated and I will give it another go.:smiley2: BTW this FO is from Peaks and smells awesome.
  18. Very cute tins and great idea putting the potpourri in them. Do you buy unscented potpourri (if there is such a thing) and add your own FO!
  19. Really great looking candles, would look good in any setting, in fact they would look fab in my living room! Interesting scent combination as well.
  20. Admired your work before and these are no exception, lovely colour and great presentation.
  21. Very nice set up and your candles look great. Love the containers with the 3 layers - is that palm wax? Someday - very far into the future - I would love to have a range of products like you do, at the moment I do pillars and wax melts.
  22. What a great idea, gotta scrounge around in my DH's toolbox for something similar to transform two red pillars that are pretty bland at the moment. Thanks for posting that, and great looking pillars by the way.
  23. Absolutely gorgeous candle. Love that colour green. Looks like a fantasy planet from another solar system (if that is not too "out there"), if you know what I mean, especially with that whispy trail of brown and white.
  24. I am hoping someone will be able to answer this dilemma for me. I made some candles tonight (trying to make mottles), using straight paraffin, 5.3% FO and 5% Stearin + UV. I went downstairs about 2 hours after pouring them to poke relief holes to do a top up and could hardly push any holes into the wax - it was quite hard, when I did get a few holes into the wax, liquid came up out of the holes? Is this normal?? Sorry for the long question, but as I normally do rustics (use FO at 4.5% and Stearin at 7%) I have not encountered this before. Thanks so much for your replies.:smiley2:
  25. Lovely pyramids. The grey/white one looks like a piece of rock. I have two of these moulds, but have not had time to play with them. Thanks for the inspiration, I can only dream that I would get something as nice as this out of them.
