  1. I use craftlister and find most of my shows that way. I paid for the subscription so I could see info on shows listed farther out. Once you sell at one of the shows and rate it, you get free subscription time.
  2. Oh, I'm sorry KFTS. That's got to be rough.
  3. Welcome Alissa! You don't need to do anything to a Presto to melt your wax. A lot of people add the spigots, but I don't mind scooping out my wax or even picking it up and pouring it into my pour pots. So, there's no need to wait until you're ready to add the spigot. I've never tried candles and supplies, but it has been mentioned on here. You might find info the quickest doing a search (near the top). Congrats on the coming baby!
  4. You could try LX 22 or 24 or maybe RRD 50. I haven't used this jar in a while, but that should get you started. The suppliers should have charts for you.
  5. Ummm....that original post was over a year ago.
  6. You might want to check WalMart for the container. I can't imagine the amount of wax you'd go through just for testing the burn. I'm not sure it's worth the time and cost to figure it out. Just noticed it's your first post, welcome!
  7. Just saying hi! Welcome! I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for with all the information here! I use soy, just picked a wax from the supplier closest to me and fiddled with it until I figured it out. Looks like you have a few to choose from.
  8. Sometimes I would prefer the percent to a booth fee. For those times all I cover is booth cost, it would be nice to know I'm only out 20% of what I sold in case people don't happen to be in the buying mood.
  9. I trim them to the desired length when I cut off the excess. It's harder to trim an unburned wick, so customers may be less likely to trim it. Then there are those who don't trim wicks, so they need all the help they can get.
  10. Sounds very promising! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  11. My mom got one of those last year. I believe there's an on/off switch at the bottom. The Walgreen's and other stores' you do light.
  12. They look nice! Your pic posting is fine, different size pics post different ways, no biggie.
  13. Oooh, gorgeous! I can almost hear the waves...
  14. Okay, maybe it's just me, but it looks a little....female? I love the idea, and it's really neat, the pattern is just bugging me a little. Anyone else see what I'm talking about?
  15. At the top of this thread is a "sticky" titled "Helpful Link for Newbies". Check it out, start with a supplier close to you. Then read everything you can on here. If you're interested in a particular supplier, use the search and enter it. You'll find info on just about any supplier out there. Kits are very helpful for getting started, most every supplier carries one. Good luck and welcome!
  16. Oh, I'm sorry about the "he", I wondered that as I wrote it. The scents i shared all work in soy, I also like the Christmas Song, but it takes a little time to cure and I use 1.5oz in that one too.
  17. Sliver, take a deep breath. He wants to make a candle. He wants to let it cure a week before burning it. Is looking for good suppliers. Hasn't said anything about selling. No need to scare him off yet, nearly every other thread on here is about testing anyway, this was about a supplier.
  18. I remember the thread where someone was developing something to put on your wick that would make candles go out every few hours and could still be relit. I have no problem using longer tabs (except on t-lites), just don't see how many fires that would prevent. At least they're not requesting some kind of fireproof shield be made around the candles or something.
  19. Good grief! It doesn't make a lot of sense. Did you read this part about self-extinguishing "Some experts believe that candle safety will improve if wicks do not extend the full length of a candle - with perhaps a 1/4 inch margin of wax left at a candle's bottom. Such candles would self-extinguish, thereby helping to address the fairly common problem caused by consumer carelessness. " Do they think it's possible to make a candle with a wick that doesn't go to the bottom? Now, using a longer next tab would help with this, but I don't see how it will prevent many fires. Tell someone their candle is self-extinguishing and they'll burn it all night long. I guess the thought that keeping the 1/4" in there is going to help with consumer carelessness for the rest of the candle is a little off. I only read the fire marshall link so far.
  20. I use one of their soy waxes. I think all of their wax are common brands, so there's really nothing to worry about there. Some FOs are better than others. The ones that do the best for me are fresh apple, vanilla coconut, white ginger, banana nut bread, mocha cream, creme brulee. The cinnamon's a sweet one, I have to use a little more than average in my soy wax, though. But when you don't pay shipping, it's not so bad. The cucumber's nice, plumeria smells realistic but light, vanilla is kind of buttery. They have some kits too. Does that help you a little? They're very nice, though they don't know how their oils work in soy. I also suggest you not order with Paypal, it doesn't always go through. Feel free to PM or e-mail me if I can help.
  21. They're my local supplier. What do you want to know? I use some of the wax, color, some FO...
  22. 1oz per pound should be enough. There are a few I go to 1.5oz.
  23. I have an order to fill. Need to make some 5oz apothecaries in Christmas Song, Cinnamon, Buttery Gingerbread, and Snow Storm. My inventory's getting a little low, but I'm not sure I'm going to work on it unless I get another order.
  24. The description makes me think "comfort". Maybe spicy comfort, home comfort, coming home, or just call it, Mmmmm. Mocha spice?
