  4. I really like your display! It is very neat and organized! I do agree about the solid color under the candles. The only suggestion I have is to maybe add some more color. I just see a lot of white when I first look at everything. But other than that, GREAT JOB!
  5. I give a % too. I usually go with 40% of the total sales. And I leave my prices the same too. I HAVE to go that high because HI & Yankme are the major competition around here in candle fundraisers and from what I've heard they usually only give 25% of the total sales. I think that since its your daughter's class that your number is fair. And like Lorrie said you are getting your name out there. The last fundraiser I did got me a wholesale account! Good luck!
  6. I tried Peaks and it just wasn't what I was looking for. It was too strong for me. So I tried Just Scents and it was EXACTLY what I wanted. I think its a great blend of bananas, nuts, and bread! I say try both and see what works for you!
  7. Some of my favs are Pink Sugar, Frosted Carrot Cake, Lemon Pound Cake, Amish Harvest, Apple Jack & Peel...just to name a few!
  8. Well that is a tough one...for me it is JS. Don't get me wrong, Peak's is AMAZING! They make great stuff and the customer service is great. However, they are in CO and I am in VA. Some of their oils are pricey and when you add shipping it gets to be a lot to me. And its just my opinion. So I have switched almost everything over to JS. They are much closer and much cheaper on some things. And yea some of their oils aren't as good as Peak's but for me, they are more economical. I still use Peak's for several FOs because there are some of theirs that no one will ever come close to! So thats my two cents...bottom line, they are both amazing companies!
  9. I've used Peaks and it was great but I've switched to Just Scent's. I really like it!
  10. Last spring I did two shows...one was in March in a mall and was HORRIBLE...the second was in April and was the local Dogwood festival and was great! I will NEVER do another mall show as long as I live. It was a terrible atmosphere. The outdoor show was soo much better, it rained and a lot of vendors didn't even show, we stuck it out and did really well. But like I said it is a big festival that is REALLY well advertised, and the booth fee was cheap. I'm going to do another outdoor festival this March that is two weekends in a row and is really well known and advertised. I'll be doing the Dogwood festival again too. I didn't do any Mother's day stuff, just plain old candles. I may do some Mother's day this year just to see how it does. So my two cents, pick the best one that you can afford and give it a shot. If its really well advertised then you should be fine! Just don't go in expecting it to be as big as fall and holiday shows. Thats my opinion!
  11. OOO I forgot to put Banana Nut Bread on mine! LOL! Trish...you are the FO queen!!! LOL!
  12. That does sound like fun! Good luck to ya and take lots of pics!
  13. Hawaiian Breeze, Chesnuts & Brown Sugar, Christmas Splendor, Hot Baked Apple Pie...just to name a few!
  14. That is sooo great Trish! Congrats girlfriend! You deserve it!
  15. Hi Deb, Lots of us use JS. You may want to do a search and see what all you find because there is TONS of feedback on here regarding JS. Good luck!
  16. I have both and haven't poured them yet. OOB I thought the Gingersnap was stronger and spiceyer. I personally use Bitter Creek's Gingerbread but I do plan on testing both the Gingersnap and Gingerbread from JS.
  17. That most definately differs from state to state...I am in VA and my business name is North Mountain Candle Co. and I am a sole proprietorship. I am registered with my county and state and completely legal. I hadn't seen the previous convos so I can't help you there. My advice, contact your county commissioner of revenue's office or whoever issues the business licenses in your county and ask them. Good luck!
  18. I get mine from www.uline.com.
  19. Hey everyone...I had a customer contact me today and give me the left overs of a Lang Candle that she had that was scented Welcome Home. Anyone know where I can get a dupe of this? Its her fav and she spends a lot of $$$ with me! LOL! Thanks!
  20. I really like the look of your site! I am getting ready to do mine with them too! The only suggestion I have right off is for your gift baskets, you may want to list what all comes in them so people know what they are getting!
  21. Christmas Splendor from Just Scent Sugar Plum Berries from Peaks Jack Frost from Bitter Creek
