  1. Cottonwood Wick = 2 hours & 15 minutes of Happiness! I was in similar situation as you are with 464 & C3. 464 was available 20 min. drive away & C3 was 1 hour away. So, I tried out 464 and stuck with it since. I am very curious how your comparison is going to come out. I have tried cottonwood wick in 464, and I thought I had the best candle in the world and that lasted for 2 hours & 15 minutes. Wax was burning really clean(no more sticky wax), quick melt pool without getting too hot, cute little flame, great HT, zero soot(even in heavy drift), smooth mirror like clean top after I blow out the candle, only little white puff when blowing out candle... What can you ask more from a candle? But then after 2 hr & 15 min, it was producing a lot of black smoke, wax was burning & turning into brown color, burnt fuel smell, etc. Some other people were having similar problem after 3 hours. You should definitely try this wick, so you can see how beautifully soy wax can able to perform during that 2 hour time frame. But, don't order too many. It will give you guideline what you need to aiming for with soy wax candle. If you can somehow figure out a way to make this wick work entire life of candle, then it is going to be the one of two best wicks in the world.
  2. Your P9056 is pillar candle wax. Only paraffin Kerawax that is for container candle is 4105 (the one used in Royal Wedding of Prince Harry). It is recommended to stir vigorously for 2 minutes here in US for mixing wax, FO & dye. I am not sure about Kerawax, but I believe it should be the same with any wax. My suggestion is to try 4105. Vybar can produce marbleized look to the top open portion in container candles. This could be one of the reason also.
  3. We all know that it is not economically possible to use real Rose EO in bath bombs & others unless it is high end perfume. But, we also know that a lot of people does not know the difference of EO & FO.
  4. I have no idea how to do massage candle, but it sound like very challenging to me. Good luck to you! I don't know whether you know this company, but you might want to check out them. You might need them for your massage candle venture. http://spwax.com/index.html
  5. We are not familiar with your Kerax wax in United States, so we might not be helpful to you. There could be few who might have tried it and give you advise, but I doubt it. It appears to me that your candle's problem is not air bubble nor frosting. Whatever it is, heat gun treatment is making it worse. I am suspecting that you might not have mixed the dye & wax well enough. Paraffin wax should not frost for very long time. But then, I do not have any experience with Kerax wax, so I cannot speak with 100% confidence.
  6. Even though massage candle started in US, it seems like no US candle supplier is selling those kind of containers. Until you are able to deal with Alibaba manufacturers, I guess you will have to look for your containers from restaurant equipment suppliers. Try to Google them with keywords "Frothing pitchers" or "Creamer containers". UK = "Milk jug" https://www.webstaurantstore.com/choice-12-oz-polished-stainless-steel-frothing-pitcher/176FROTHP12.html https://www.webstaurantstore.com/search/creamer-containers.html Are you trying to develop massage/body candles?
  7. Some of UPS Stores do 3D printing service, but I have to take them CAD program file which I don't have. Thanks for your response! I will look for other places who can do this. We do have many 3D printing places here in Southern CA who specialize in making things for movie industry.
  8. Has anyone tried paint mixers to use as wax & FO mixer/blender? If you have, how did it work?
  9. This message is to CandleMaker3D. This is what I want to do with your invention. First I would need your device in this size and little modification. You can keep the size of hole as it is. I can make this Part 3 using wood. So, don't worry about this part. I will make this one using wooden board. So, don't worry about this one either. I am planning to do following with your parts. 1. Part 1 is installed thru center hole from under the wooden board and bolted down on wings. 2. Install wooden board to a table where bottom part of this device in hang in the air. 3. Part 2 is place thru Part 1. Part 2 needs some kind of rubber ring so it does not fall thru. 4. Place 4 wood or plastic blocks in place of size of container. Wick installation 1. Place a wick in thru middle of part 2 and glue it. 2. Place a container in place up side down. 3. Push up Part 2 from the bottom, and wick is in place. It's very hard for me to draw this in 3D. I will post new pictures when I am done with assembling this contraption.
  10. Hi! Your device would work nicely for many different size of containers, but I don't think it's going to be time saving device. I am working on 2 different designs that I thought might be real time saving device, and I would appreciate your opinion or anybody's in this forum. I might ask you to make one for me since you have 3D talent & printer. *This is just simple drawing. Look at following photos for my prototype. Slide the wick down the middle. Glue the wick tap using glue gun. Slide container(tin in this case) down the cylinder *This one will only work for one size straight containers, and I have found all the necessary parts to make this one. By the way, this is not my invention. Mid size candle factories use this type of wick inserting device. I have another design that I got idea from your design up there, and it needs little modification from your design. The other design is for different types of containers in different sizes, and I feel that it's going to be much time saving device. I should able to post the other design here by tonight or by tomorrow.
  11. Most Rose FOs already have some kind of citrus top notes in them. Try to put together Rose candle & Jasmine candle side by side. I liked it so much that I tried to make a candle by blending Rose & Jasmine FOs together, but combining two FOs didn't work out.
  12. I use GB 464 with 12% FO. By looking at your picture, it does not appears to be it's seepage. It appears to me that your candle is sweating, and sweating can be caused by 2 things. 1. Exposed to lights(LED lights are worse.): You can eliminate this by put lid right away after your wax hardens. I am not 100% on this, but I have feeling that this might be the reason for wet spots. 2. Hot temperature: I say GB 464 has sweating problem above 95F. I haven't figure out how to prevent this with this wax in hot temperature. 0.6oz of FO with 7.4oz of wax is 8.1% fragrance load. [0.6 divide by 7.4 = 8.1%] 1. Heat wax up to 185F, but never more than 185F. If you go over 185F, then it will scorch your wax. So, I usually try to heat the wax to 182 - 183F. 2. Add FO in between 175F to 180F. By looking at your picture, you have done really good job of mixing them well together. So, I guess it works at 170F, too. 3. Pour at around 135F (anywhere in between 130F to 140F is okay.) It will give you much better clean surface top.
  13. Try these guys. https://customwickholder.com/
  14. https://customwickholder.com/ These guys should have what you are looking for. I believe they even custom make one if you send them your container. or you could do this! Glue two wooden sticks with a hole together, and glue pieces of wood or plastic on four sides that fits on your container. Even just perfectly marking four sides with marker would do the trick.
  15. California Candle Supply should have posted it as "flat rate shipping" instead of "free shipping". Other than that, it is a great store with friendly service. General Wax & Candle Company in North Hollywood is a big store. Most of their products are imported from China. I get my metal lids & gift boxes over here. You might want to check out the store at least once. I almost bought the wax melter here, but I ended up getting it from someone else.
  16. You can get it from California Candle Supply. They are not that far way from you. http://calcandlesupply.com/8-oz-matte-finished-tin-containers-w-lids/
  17. It should depend on who you are dealing with, and what you are trying achieve out of those accounts. I have just started my business, and I am hoping and planning to do 8 consignments by end of next year. I am going to offer them 34/66 split. Yes, you read that right. I am keeping only 34%, and the reason is this. I am using consignments strictly as my stepping stones to growing my brand rather than trying to make a lot of profit out of them. I just got a big non-profit account backing me up, so I am ready to contact famous resorts, hair stylist, beauty salon in Beverly Hills CA. In your area which is Florida, what kind of percentage split would you offer to places like Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club Spa if they are interested in carrying your candle? Any 10oz candle should be easily retail at $60 to $80 in their shop. As for your friend who owns a salon, what level of salon does she operate? If she has high end clients including celebrities, then I would be satisfied at 50/50. If she is not a high end salon, then I would use her as my reference to approach higher end salons and do 60/40 with your friend because she is your friend after all. For all other consignment accounts, I would try to settle around near 75/25 split +/- 5%, but you should be open to any kind deal.
  18. I am not expert on FOs, so I might be wrong. I think those oils are same except they are in different forms. The one that is sold by Perfumer's Apprentice is concentrate FO, and the one available in Wellington is ready to use FOs by diluting with carrier oil. When I first heard the word "dilute", I thought it was a really bad thing. But, I learn that it is necessity part of FO making. Carrier oil is not cheap either. I got into habit of looking at Safety Data Sheet because it gives information on original FO manufacturer. If you do reverse phone search on Emergency Contact phone number in Data Sheet, then totally unexpected FO manufacturer's name could pop up. Data Sheet might give you one manufacturer's name, but emergency phone number might belongs to actual manufacturer, which could be totally different. I found some behind the scene FO manufacturers by doing this. This kind of search give me peace of mind. Also, I know where I can get my FOs in case my current suppliers decided not to carry it or they close down. Good luck to you on your search for coffee fo!
  19. I did not put Perfumer's Apprentice link for all the chandlers in here. They only have about 10 FOs that can be used in candle. But in order use their FOs in candle, we really have to know what we are doing just like "NightLight" said. This link was meant to be only for "sarahmarah", who likes to mix own scents. For all others, we still can learn little bit about process of how a scent is made from this website. I am satisfied with many FOs that are available thru our own suppliers mentioned in our forum. I put "Premier Specialties" web link up there because "CaptnKush" was curious about where Lab & Co. gets their FOs. If we were to getting bigger and growing our candle company, then next step would be to deal with companies like AFI or Premier Specialties. Well everyone sorry for the confusion I have caused! Happy holiday season and I wish you great successful new year!
  20. I can see a big trend toward flameless candles, and it is growing bigger every year. So, what kind of flameless candles are you into and make?
  21. Yes, parent company of Lab & Co. has team of perfumer, designer & private labeling candle company, and they order their own blends to fragrance oil manufacturer. Are you a perfumer? You might want to check out https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/ They might have concentrates that you are looking for. I am not an expert on FOs, so I might be wrong about this company.
  22. Hi there neighbor! Lab & Co gets their oils from Premier Specialties, Inc. in NJ. website: https://www.premierfragrances.com/ They are strictly business to business operation. If AFI's minimum requirement is kind of out of your reach at current stage, then you should not be able to deal with these guys yet. There are several other companies like this at this level. *By the way, Lab & Co is related to Dayna Decker's Lumetique Candle. On top of these companies, there are chemical companies like "Spectrum Chemicals & Laboratory Products" in Gardena CA. website: https://www.spectrumchemical.com/OA_HTML/index.jsp?minisite=10020&respid=22372&language=US Hiring a perfumer and directly dealing with these chemical company should be our ultimate goal or above mentioned company. In my opinion, quality of oil is not the most important thing that we should be looking for. If you look at AFI's fos, try to look just rose fo that they offer. They offer 57 different kind of rose scents. And there are 100's or 1000's different rose fragrance oils in this world. It is our job to locate the right fo for each scent. The one that you love and the one that could be loved by your customers. There could be a chance that a great scent that works for you could be manufactured grade oil. You will never know.
  23. You ended up getting the heavy duty work horse! So, are you ready to print $$$? I don't know why but every time I am doing my labels, I feel like I am printing money.😉 Good luck to you and have a wonderful upcoming holiday!
  24. Wow! That sounds like a real bargain on excellent quality printer. I would go for that one without question for that price. I also use Canon black & white imageCLASS D420 for other printing, and it hasn't gave me any problem for long time. *In order to reduce label paper jam problem in laser jet printers, try to fill the paper tray to 50% to 80% of its capacity. With regular paper, you can fill the tray in any level.
