  1. Here, I'll throw another one out there- Sweet Amber Musk from Aroma Haven. This is a Soap -n- Candles scent and is out of this world heavenly. Soap, candles, perfume, lotion and cp. A one-stop fragrance oil.
  2. Scented, I bought the heart mold from Candlechem off Ebay. I find the key to a good mottle (for me anyway) is to wrap my molds, usually old towels or newspaper, heat gun the mold just before pouring, and a very slow cooling. Give it a good 24 hours before demolding the large size molds. This is plain 135 deg paraffin, 3 T steric per lb, and vybar 343. Using 343, I can pour up to 8% scent (6% if it's a strong scent like Home Sweet Home).
  3. My favorite scent of FOH, I changed the name a little. I'd love to just make the candles and have someone else take pictures but it doesn't work like that in my house. Darn it.:undecided
  4. I don't use that wax but I do use a soyblend and I found after testing and testing some more that zinc wicks work wonderfully in this size balmoral. Start out with a 52 zinc and if that doesn't work, go up one size. The trick to this jar is finding a wick that can melt the wide middle of this jar and not be too hot as the jar narrows down.
  5. Well, rats on the Gingerbread Applesauce not throwing in 50/50. I think I'll try 75/25 and see if the extra will help with the throw. I'll let you know.
  6. I'm pouring that one today. Thanks for the review. Have you tried their Gingerbread Applesauce? OOB it is fantastic. I hope it throws great because I love this one too.
  7. Beautiful pillars Scented, all of them.
  8. Dang, if I lived up north I'd come play too. In the company of good friends, doing what you love to do AND making money all at the same time. Way to go Kim!!!
  9. Their site does have scent descriptions now. Kind of hard to find but they're there. My all time favorite is their Apple Strudel. I've not smelled another like it anywhere else.
  10. So who makes Black Velvet or is this a blend of yours?
  11. I'm burning Flaming Black Russian and Nutty Nut Vanilla candles from DayStar in the livingroom. In the kitchen I'm burning Sugared Shortbread from WSP. Yum on all of them.
  12. For an excellent Angel dupe, try Fragrances by Design. She has some wonderful oils. I ordered lots of her 1 oz samples about a month ago when she had them on sale for $1.00. I loved her Baby Grace, Angel and Princess. I went back and ordered the 16 oz in all three. Angel throws like crazy in soyblend too, an added bonus. I haven't tried the others in wax yet but have in B & B.
  13. Heartfelts Candle Supply-her version totally throws all over the place. Excellent quality and she tests all oils in 100% soy.
  14. Have you ever tried Celtic Moonspice from Rustic Essentials? That ranks at the top of the kick butt hot throw list. (Although I've been pouring Home Sweet Home from Heartfelts this weekend and it's another kicker). Also, have you tried Heavenly Cinnabun from Scented Bean? Lots and lots of spicy with a little mollasses thrown in. Scented Bean is a great supplier for soy, she tests all her oils in 100% soy. She has 2 cinnamon buns on her site but the Heavenly one is the one with the extra kick.
  15. I love the candy with the wick glowing. That's what caught my eye when I first looked at your webpage. The colors are perfect for your product, the layout is easy on the eye and the candy graphics add the special touch. Whimsical and upscale, I'd definitely take a look at what ya got. Candlegrl, I think you've find your niche.
  16. Scented, you want yummy, try her Caramel Dip. It's my absolute favorite. I had one of these burning @ my last craft fair and sold out of every candle in that scent in less than an hour.
  17. I just received my order from Lynda earlier this week. I've never had any problems receiving my orders from her. I haven't ever tried to email her so can't help you there. I did order a 1 oz sample of the Chai Latte but haven't put it in wax yet. Nice oob. I love her Holiday Bash and the Pumpkin Cheesecake is excellent. She also has wonderful vanilla scents.
  18. 50 pots? If I had 50 pots I wouldn't be able to get into my pouring room, lol.
  19. You can also heat the oil a little while you're melting your wax. Set the bottle in a bowl of warm water to warm it a bit. This works well with vanillas that are hard to blend. A few sprinkles of UA in the wax works well to blend scent to wax also.
  20. You could still use your 133 melt point wax. You can add micro wax to up your melt point. I buy mine from BCN now, Peaks used to sell it but I don't see it anymore on their website. Micro is a great additive for wax. In containers, it helps the fragrance throw and the finished appearance. With pillar wax it will up the melt point, help with the scent throw and offers a beautiful finish to the candle. Depending on the amount you use, your pillar wax will become "hurricane" wax. It works exceptionally well with the electric candles and I have used it for years in many of my candles. Start with 5% per lb of paraffin and tweak it from there. I usually use 8% per lb for the electric candles.
  21. I received my order this evening. This is just a OOB review, I'll review again when I put them in wax: Banana Walnut Cake-every bit as wonderful as I thought it would be. I love the scent throw of a good walnut and I can definitely smell it in this one. I've tried so many banana nut breads and have been disappointed in the throws in my soyblend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one, I really want it to work. Fall Harvest-Also very nice OOB. It reminds me of Apple Cobbler somewhat but there are other notes in there, not quite sure what yet-if this one throws in my soyblend, I'll definitely put it out there for people to try. Manuka & Lavender Body Wrap-I'm not the best judge on this one because I'm not a Lavender lover but I have customers that are. I'll try a couple of testers and see what they think. Definitely a spa scent. Cider Snap-The jury is out on this one. I need to put it in wax to be fair but OOB I'm not crazy about this one. I also received a sample of a new one, Prell. Wow, I love this one. Reminds me of simpler times and that bottle of green Prell shampoo my mom always bought. It would make a great soap fragrance. I want to try it in wax. I can see a candle with this scent sitting on my bathroom counter. Ok, that's all for now. Turn-around time was very fast, very high quality oils, reasonable pricing, this is a good supplier. I'll go back again, there are many others I want to try next.
  22. She has the best caramel of any supplier I've tried.
  23. Using the extra UA does make a pretty candle doesn't it? I've tried up to 3T per lb, just playing around with scents that I couldn't get to throw in soy. It works but it's a bit--to figure out the wicking. I usually stick with 1 T per lb. And yes, I know 444 already has UA in it. No rule says you can't add more to tweak the appearance and the throw right? It also works great when blending paraffin and soy together.
  24. So how did you do selling wise for your 1st time out? I started out with pretty much the same, no shelves, plastic tablecloth, etc. It's a learning experience for sure. Walk around and look at other setups, you'll get alot of ideas. I bought alot of my shelving and decorations from garage sales. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do for something old. I was even lucky enough to find a couple of bar stools at a garage sale. Your products look very nice and it will all come together. Best of luck to you :smiley2:
  25. The last two years I've used Snowberries from FOH. Wonderful scent, great throw.
