  1. I didn't really think the Glass Glow would look so pretty undyed because the colored candles are just so gorgeous, but I really am impressed!!! I don't think the picture does it justice. This is scented with ST Vanilla Bliss, which did darken the wax just a bit. Thanks for lookin'! Jenn
  2. Beverly, I, too, find the PCS to be a bit too spicey OOB and honestly, I get that same feel from the cold throw. But the HOT THROW...OMG! Smells so sweet and I think buttery...the spice notes take a back seat when burning! Try it...I think you will love it. jenn
  3. Stella, Where do you get that and how do you apply it? DH would die if I had to steal a caulk gun from him!!!
  4. Amazing job Lisa! You have outdone yourself!!! Alright, I am waiting on more glass glow then I will try, since you all are doing such incredible layers! Jenn
  5. That measurement doesn't seem right...I don't use apothecary jars but I believe the 16 oz should be closer to 4" in width. I can't give you any insight on the Joy wax, but if your jar is 4" across you may be looking at 2 CD12s. Maybe 2 CD14s, depending on the Joy wax and the FO (the heavier, spicier oils will often require you to wick up). Anyway, hope this helps some, and I am sure others with experience with Joy and with apothecaries will chime in. Also, make sure to do a search on testing, because you will do lots of it and want to make sure you are doing it right!
  6. I did have a little trouble on the baked Apples and on Cinnamon Buns. I called CS yesterday and they were very helpful, and I was impressed with their knowledge of the product. I told him that I was taking the wax up to 200*, then adding dye and FO at 190* and pouring. He said that was all fine, but he suggested taking the wax/FO combo back up just over 200* and that it would help. He said not to worry about burning off the scent, and to just take it up and then remove from heat. I haven't tried it but I will. If that doesn't work, I will try 5%.
  7. I know Candle Science has a wick guide, which I used. But I am glad I made one tester with a smaller wick size because it looks like a winner! I poured ST Baked Apples at 6% FO in two 3" tumblers. One wicked with a CSN14 and one with a CSN12. The CSN14 is a torch and burning off-center (I am assuming it is from all the dancing the flame is doing). Plus this glass is so damn hot. The CSN12 left quite a shell on the first two burns, but this third burn is really working it out! Still a shell but so thin it should disappear soon...in fact one side is already melting. I have 30 minutes left on my third 4-hour burn, so I will try to post a couple of pics. BTW, even though there is a spice note in this Baked Apples FO, I have never found the need to wick up on it.
  8. How about fruit compote or apple-pear compote? Speaking of compote...I saw a receipe for a cranberry pear compote...I'm gonna give that one a whirl...maybe cranberry, pear and cinnamon or cranberry pear and a sweet vanilla to mimic the sugar syrup (maybe vanilla bliss)
  9. Peak's Amish Harvest..not exactly a Christmas scent, but a great winter scent!
  10. OMG...It looks exactly like candy corn!! beautiful layers! Please share how you did the layers, as I have been to chicken to try them with glass glow...
  11. Bert's vanilla latte is a very nice, very mellow coffee scent!
  12. hey grama! Early american candle carries them, but their smallest says 7.5 oz. They have three sizes. http://www.earlyamericancandlesupplies.com/store_supplies_info.cfm?id=307&cat=2⊂=10 BTW, I searched and couldn't find a top for them. There was a nasty thread a few weeks ago related to this. Apparently someone found an ebay seller with the jars and lids together but the lids were hand-made. Candles and Supplies also carries a small cube but I think it is only sold by the case.
  13. Thank you all...really you are too kind. This wax really gets all the credit. The crystal patterns it makes are just so pretty and it colors sooooo easily! This oil is so heavy, and I didn't heat it up before I added it into the wax, so I don't think it incorporated totally. That and I used 6% when I really should have done 5%...
  14. I was there last night and picked it up...reminded me soooo much of Peak's Amish Harvest! Just wondering if anyone else thought the same thing?
  15. So far I have only tried Cinnamon Buns and Cranberry Marmalade in palm and they both rock...still have to put Pumpkin Souffle, Caramelized Pralines and Wildberry Mousse into wax. Do an advanced search in the Fragrance section for CS or candle science and you will find TONS!
  16. hi leslie! Glass Glow is a crystallizing container palm wax. There are a number of suppliers, and you can do a search on glass glow or palm to find out a lot more about it. I purchased mine from www.candlescience.com hth, Jenn
  17. I hear ya Stella, and I agree. But I don't think that those of us who are playing with palm are forsaking safety in our attempts to wick it. It is a learning experience and for me, at least, it is like being a newbie all over again because this wax is just so different from what I know. I can tell you that I do prefer a jar to burn as cleanly as possible, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. But at least as far as palm is concerned, that means that certain jars just will not lend themselves to this. Then it's back to the drawing board. Again, all part of the learning, right?
