  1. I've read that both of these are similar, and that both smell like Amish Harvest. Which smells closest to AH from Peak? I would prefer whichever smells closest and has the spicier notes. I use J223. Also, thoughts on pumpkin creme brulee? TIA! Jenn
  2. Years ago I started with J223. Over the years I have played with a number of waxes, but I always came back to it. I use zinc wicks because I double-wick and they burn best for me when double-wicking. I started adding soy to make the wax more opaque and pull away from the jar to cut down on the crazy J223 wet spots. Lately I have been feeling like my candles aren't as strong as they used to be, so I decided to try one with no soy. Guess what--knock-ya-down scent throw! Maybe the soy was too much for my zincs. I was really only adding it for appearance, so I'll take my scent throw and the wet spots that come with it! Jenn
  3. Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies = Hansel & Gretel's House (CS) So happy that the Amish Harvest is the same as one I have been getting from another supplier. Butterscotch Bread Pudding smelled great OOB! Cinnamon Pumpkin Bread OOB smells too heavy on the cinnamon and too light on the pumpkin, but to me all pumpkin oils change in wax (ones I love OOB smell off to me when burning in J223/464).
  4. I got some samples from Candles and Supplies and Candlewic and yesterday I poured: Pomegranate Cider (CS) - LOVE! Oakmoss & Amber (CS) - UNDECIDED Sugared Vanilla Shortbread(CW) - LOVE! and I have yet to pour these samples: Holiday Frost (CW) Toffee Apple Cider (CW) - like it OOB but don't know if it seems strong Caramel Apple (CW) - didn't smell like I thought it would OOB Snickerdoodle (CW) Holly Berry (CS)
  5. OMG guys! How funny! Okay, so you know I am doing this, right? And I am totally stealing one of these awesome names. Reindeer Toe Jam or Elf Toe Jam?
  6. Yum! I have two jars of Mistletoe test-burning in the living room and two of Cranberry Marmalade in the family room. Love them both, but when I come down the stairs I smell both and I LUUUUUUVVVV it! Does anybody mix the two? (Oh, both from CS) Jenn
  7. Hello all! Hope you've all been well. I know I have been MIA for a while now. I do peak in and read though! Too much work and too many kids! (haha...5 yo, 4 yo and 2 yo plus working from home keeps me busy!) I am still making candles, but only for a holiday open house. I have scaled back and I am only offering a handful of scents. I am in need of an apple scent for my J223/464 wax combo. Of course I would love one with a great throw, and I would really love to find one from either Candlescience (where I am ordering most of my oils from) or Candles and Supplies or Candlewic (both local and I order waxes and jars from). Seems that Apple Harvest from CS is a consideration. Any other ideas? Don't want a straight apple like Mac Apple...something with a touch of spice or crust or both, but it doesn't necessarily have to be an Apple Pie. Thanks so much!!! Jenn
  8. the candles and the pics are just beautiful!!!
  9. Hi there...another question. With these tumblers, I have dug out some old CBL-129 from Candlewic. It pulls away completely so it looks beautiful before burning. Better than my J223 mix does. But while burning the wax expands and touches the glass, but only at the top of the wax near the flame. It looks fine while burning but after it doesn't look so wonderful. The throw is incredible, as is the burn, but it gets a bubbly appearance on the outside of the wax. Am I being too particular? I'll take a pic and post it in case I am not being clear in my description. Jenn
  10. Hey there everyone...it's been a while! I have been doing J223/464 in apothecary jars, double wicked with zinc. I get a very nice throw from them...I have been very pleased. But I just love the look of tumblers and have played on and off with them, but I would like to get serious about it and start using them. So, my question is, is it unrealistic to think that I will get a throw out of a tumbler that is comparable to my apothecary jars double-wicked? And for those that use zinc wicks in a tumbler (3"w) what od you use? 51z? 44 (32 or 24)? Thanks! Jenn
  11. I am playing...thinking I might try getting back into the swing of things by late spring/early summer. Three kids and working from home keep me pretty busy!! I can't believe you opened a store!!! How awesome! Wow, you have come a long way and I am very happy for you! I have to clean out my inbox and I'll pm you soon to catch up. Miss ya! Jenn
  12. I haven't been on the board much lately but geez oh man everytime I look I see more and more gorgeous stuff from you!!! The cookie pillar on the right...I LOVE IT! Jenn
  13. Bubbles n lights Cookie Jar? I did love that scent!! I think BNL is at Bitter Creek now.
  14. Just poured a tester...OMG! So much more comes out in the wax. I can definitely smell the buttery sweet streusel and some subtle spice notes also. I love this scent...I REALLY hope it throws because it smells sooo good!
  15. I am thinking of attempting to reupholster my 6 parson's dining chairs. Just curious if anyone here has done it and can give me some tips! Jenn
  16. So glad to hear it because I will be pouring it in a J223 blend!!!
  17. I just picked up a candlewic order and got a sample of pumpkin ginger streusel and whipped pumpkin pie. Don't know what the whipped pp smells like, but I don't smell pumpkin. Pumpkin Ginger Streusel, on the other hand, smells FANTASTIC!!! Smells just like the pumpkin puree out of the can, with just the slightest touch of something else. It is the most realistic pumpkin I have smelled. Now to get it in wax!! Just wanted to share, even though it's just oob! Jenn
  18. I really like ICS Sugared Spruce and I LOVE some of the Snowtop scents (at ICS): Cranberry Orange Spice (ST) Vanilla Bliss (ST) Cinnamon Buns (ST) Creme Brulee (ST - has a chocolate note, not traditional CB) Baked Apples (ST)
  19. Update - wet spots VERY SLOWLY appearing on the bottom of the jar that I have not burned. The one I have burned looks great still. I will say, though, that the wet spots don't look as bad as straight J223. Sometimes those darn 223 wet spots look like craters or a big ol' bubble. Still think my next step is to try it at 1tsp pp and see if I can get good adhesion and better wicking/throw.
  20. Well, candle sure does look great but not an overly impressive throw. it's only been a day, but this is Amish harvest. I think the throw is less in this tester than it was without the CO (I think). Maybe 2 tsp pp was too much? The candle does appear to be burning differently, but I will give it more time. Two burns and no soot and no smoking. Still adhering pretty darn well. I am going to continue to test this candle, and I am going to pout more with 1 tsp CO. If 1 tsp gave the same adhesion but helped the throw, that would be great! Can too much CO bind the FO, like too much vybar would?
  21. Hi everyone... Yes the mix was 85% J223 and 15% 464. I did not warm the jars. I absolutely detest warming jars!! Mostly because I have this antiquated, tiny little old wall oven that doesn't heat below 200*. I poured hotter than my normal pour temp of 155...I did it about 175. I may pour a few more today, trying 1 tsp CO pp and maybe try pouring one at 175 and one at 155 to see if there is any difference.
  22. I know there has been talk lately about using coconut oil in a parasoy blend. Well, I tried it yesterday and so far my candles look fabulous! I poured two jars, one to burn and one to set aside and see how it looks in a week, two weeks, etc. I poured them 24 hours ago, and both have 100% adhesion. I used 2 tsp coconut oil in an 85/15 mix of J223 and 464. I am going to start burning one candle today. Will report back in later! Jenn
