  1. Maybe you came up with two terrific new soaps? GoldieMN
  2. So what companies DO NOT SEND THEM looking like this? GoldieMN
  3. My wicks have never arrived like that. If it were me, I would send a photo to the company and complain. If they want them back, they can pay shipping both ways. Keep us informed. GoldieMN
  4. Just found this thread. Did you ever come up with a stencil? I would cut my "stencil" from vinyl or self-sticking shelf liner so it adheres to the jar easily. If you want, I can cut some for you on my vinyl cutter for you to test to see if that would work. I've also used a cheap wood burner to cut a stencil. GoldieMN
  5. I jerked out the 767 Premier wicks and replaced with 785s. Much better hot throw! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I test for four hours at a time which gives a 1/4" melt pool. I'm going to try another test with 780 Premier wicks as the jar (in the area of the flame) gets too hot to hold after 4 seconds. Or is that normal? GoldieMN
  6. Well I upped my wick to Premier 785 and am getting a much better throw. May back down to 780 as jar is getting a bit hot on top. Next test batch, I will try adjusting the oil up a bit with the 780.
  7. Here it is in white at $88 price: http://www.storefixture.com/P-21625/Bread-Stands-Feature-4-Adjustable-Shelves
  8. Great idea! Thanks. Might as well try that while waiting for more wax. GoldieMN
  9. Can I remelt the jars I have in order to repour with a 780 wick? And if so, do I add more oil? Bring to 180 again? GoldieMN
  10. You are so LUCKY to be that close to Peak! Not only save on shipping, but being able to smell all the fragrances.
  11. Yes, hard as it is, I do wait at least 1-2 weeks before testing. I do burn all the way to the bottom of the jar as well. Will definitely wick up once I get more wax. Thanks! Goldie
  12. I started with the 765s and 767s for all my pints based on suggestions on this forum, I thought. They perform well with other oils--jar doesn't get too hot, hot throw is great; although I do notice a lot of flickering. I certainly will start testing with the 790s. Thanks!
  13. Sorry, I meant 1 ounce. Used 16 ounces wax and 1 ounce oil. Then 16 ounces and 1.3 ounces.
  14. Have you had luck getting a good hot throw with this oil from Rustic Escentuals? It smells so good cold, but loses it when lit. I'm using pint jars, 415, and tried 765 & 767 Premier wicks. I tried 1% and 1.3% oil. I did ask RE, but they haven't tested it. Goldie
  15. I've been testing Rustic Essentuals Cinnabon in Golden 415 and love the scent. Not getting the throw I want with 10% oil so going to up it. I'm seeing recommendations of 6% all the way to 2 ounces/pound for 415 from various companies who sell it. Would you go that high? Two ounces/pound? Goldie
  16. Very nice. I only use 415 for containers as it is what I started with. I'm definitely still a beginner. With help from this forum, I've gone to Premier wicks for my pint canning jars--765 or 767. I will be interested in following your experiences with 415. GoldieMN
  17. I've spray my lids in the past but gave up as it was more time consuming than I thought it would be. Then if a few got nicked, I had to respray. . . You have some great choices to present to your client. If it were me, I would also present the choices with the same price not a lower price for the less expensive red lid. Not sure if you were considering this or not. GoldieMN
  18. I'm not writing this to try to convince anyone to use essential oils but to share with you what I know about this. 1. Essential oil distributors are not to give advice for particular medical questions but can suggest oils for different body systems like the respiratory system to be in accordance with the FDA rules. Too many people were answering questions like "what should I use for asthma" by suggesting an oil which the FDA said is a no-no. But a person can answer with "these oils support the respiratory system" or something on that order. 2. If you are going to use an essential oil, read the label. If it says "do not ingest", don't even put it on your body. It is not 100% pure. 3. Anyone (general public) can get wholesale prices without going through a distributor at least with Young Living. For me, I would rather use something 100% natural than a product ok'd by the FDA which comes with all kinds of warnings (you hear them on the commercials all the time) or that gets recalled due to the harm they have done. Just my opinion. GoldieMN
  19. Do the tins get any hotter than jars? As far as 10 ounce tins, I saw some here: http://www.candlewic.com/store/category.aspx?q=c72 GoldieMN
  20. Great questions, Chappy. I'm still pretty new at this. What is a cooling oven? Goldie
  21. I haven't tried them but McCall's candles use to sell something similar that one used to get a wax pool quicker than without. Not sure if they recommended keeping the cap on after the pool was started (as described below). Here is their description: Candle Starters are our venting caps for our 16oz & 26oz size Classic Jar Candle. (Not needed for our Double Wick Classic). Though our jar candles burn evenly and liquefy into their own heavenly bliss, this offers little “jumpstart” on that process (which is especially nice if you do not have a lot of lengthy burning time). Once the wax pool is started, the caps can be removed (Carefully removed; they will be hot!). Goldie
  22. Just finished reading this very informative thread: http://www.craftserver.com/topic/105416-6-fo-versus-8-fo/ From day 1, I've used 1 oz. fragrance oil to 1 lb. soy (415) since that is what was suggested when I bought the soy wax. After much testing, I felt I had a good combination of wick/wax/fragrance for the pint canning jars. When done pouring, I use remaining wax to make a dozen tarts. I started wondering if I need more fragrance oils for tarts. Is there a great difference in throw from jars to tarts when using the same wax and fragrance oil? Do people generally expect more throw from tarts? GoldieMN
