  1. Well, darn, glad I didn't order yet then, thanks. The only other one I tried was C&S and theirs was weak in my wax and not quite a dupe either, though I've only sniffed the real thing once. My main customer for this scent was happy with Steve's, I just can't justify that shipping if they don't lower it on my friend's order.
  2. Well, I "talked" to a friend of mine a few minutes ago that had to place an order similar to mine (same pounds but not quite as far away). She requested shipping approval even though she needs the items yesterday. Soooo we'll see what they have to say to her.
  3. After giving it some thought, I changed my mind about ordering. That's higher than having a 50 lb. case of wax shipped from a few states away. Who in their right mind would pay that? The only scent I need soon is Cranberry Chutney and I think I saw a good review of one from Tennessee Candle so there ya go. Buh-bye candlemaker's store.
  4. Yep, Craft Lobby recently reamed me for $12 in shipping 2 lbs. They sent it priority mail for just over $5!!! I know someone in the past told me that Candlemaker's store charges the correct shipping when they invoice, but that hasn't held true for me. I flipped back through the last invoices and every one was billed at exactly the charge shown in the cart...every one much over priced but not this badly.
  5. Ok, it was bad enough that my last order for 4 lbs was $12.50 shipping. NOW, 6 lbs is over $18? WTH???? The no daily pickup/account, drop off at UPS counter quote is only $12.50 at the UPS site so they are basically upcharging $6. Factor in daily pickup with a UPS account puts it over $8 (quoted just under $10). I placed almost the exact same order a few months ago and shipping was only $13 and change. Has anyone else noticed this? This will definitely be my final order with them since I have no choice at this time. They've always had a nonsensical, inconsistent handling charge built in but this is ridiculous.
  6. Our grocery had store-brand sunflower oil, 48 oz. for $2.49 and occasional sales for $2.00. Over the past year they have steadily increased the price to $4 per 48 oz and never a sale. Is there a sunflower shortage or what...I've seen tons of them all fall?? First olive oil triples, now sunflower doubles. It's starting to be cheaper just to order everything in!
  7. BCS over NG and BCN here, too.
  8. They are about 1.75 by 3.5. I couldn't find a tape measure to be sure, but bending the ruler looked like 1 11/16 to be precise for the width. Height was exact.
  9. I hate it as well. I have to keep the volume up loud on the computer and there's no shock like a 3 a.m. blast of harsh music.
  10. I second the T/Sal by Neutrogena. I have to use it once or twice a week unless I run across a regular shampoo that I don't develop an allergy to for a while, but it clears it up usually after one washing.
  11. TA, I am having the same problem with 16 oz. apothecaries as well. The only thing that has worked is 2 51's but the top of the jar being smaller is super hot and the soot build up is quite bad. I couldn't imagine using such a large wick since other jars seem to wick smaller with this wax so I'm at a loss where to go next! Marie, please do let us know your findings. Good luck!
  12. This may be a stupid question but are you letting your testers burn more than half-way down? The reason I ask is that I am trying to wick a similar jar (although with different wax-testing IGI 4786) and everything I have tried burns out at about the halfway point, but seems way overwicked at the top...fast, deep melt pool. I am now up to 3 lx-14's and 3 cd-6's with no luck. Also, 3 44-24z wouldn't cut it. I can use 1 cd-6 in a jelly jar but it seems a bit hot for light scents if that helps with a reference point for this wax. I just can't figure out the problem! Just wanted to be sure you were letting them burn down as soon as I saw your post and the similarities.
  13. Is IGI 4786 normally oily? It is hard like the slab I just used for testing, but the case I just received from candlescience has an oily film on every slab. I've used it off and on in the past and have never encountered this so was just wondering if anyone else has experienced it.
  14. I seem to have the opposite problem. I can't get most food scents to throw to save my life. And this is in a blend of ezsoy and paraffin! The ones that threw in ezsoy were few and far between so I gave up. I've tested about 30 scents so far in the blend and about 2/3 have had the minimum of what I would consider a "good" throw. I do have to say, though, that a few of these are actually better in the blend than in paraffin alone or soy alone. It's interesting to note that these are also the higher-end, pricier scents. From my testing, those scents mix better and throw better with some soy in the mix. I could stand to lose some scents anyway, but there are a few must-haves that I will have to continue using in paraffin alone. I believe some people have soy magic and others (myself included) don't!
  15. I smell grapefruit in all of them as well.
  16. I had to do some digging but I've tried: Refined Shea-soft & sticky, believe this is now the cosmetic version Natural Shea-soft & sticky Virgin Shea-nice texture, greenish tinge, I may have had a smellier batch but the scent literally makes me gag in the container and in products even with a heavier FO load
  17. I, too, am unhappy with the shea butter from CF these days. It's no longer pretty, white, and firm. My last bucket was yellow, grainy, and a bit sticky. I would kill to have that shea butter back! I've bought it from OBN a couple of times and it was very oily, stickier and yellow in the bucket. If you're accustomed to CF's former white, firm shea butter, you won't get it at OBN, at least in my past experience. I can't answer how it does in whipped butters since I don't do those, but thought the description comparison might help. ETA: Oops, I just noticed they have a new extra refined butter that claims to be white and firm. Although the old one also had a similar description that wasn't accurate, this one may be better. Please let us know when you receive it!
  18. Definitely a wicker-upper <----love that It almost had a full melt pool except for one little sliver but 5 hours is much too long!
  19. I *just* lit a tester in this fragrance so I'll post back in a few hours and let you know my findings.
  20. Thanks, Jenny. With using USPS, I am concerned that it doesn't look like you can track or confirm delivery? They are much cheaper though when playing with shipping estimates. CountryGal, thanks for the heads up. How would you find out what is and isn't allowed?
  21. It's nice, but I much prefer yours, Jenny! I don't know what shopping cart that is, but I HATE seeing that "Let's see what we have here" like on their site.
  22. I never gave any thought or wanted the hassle of shipping internationally, but finally caved for smaller retail orders. Now, I find myself overwhelmed with wholesale requests from Canada, New Zealand, and more and think I should entertain the possibility. So, can someone give me the ins and outs? How do you ship larger wholesale-size orders? What do I need to know to make this a possibility? Thanks in advance!
  23. I have, errr, had, tons of thin plastic tablecloths from the dollar store and I always ALWAYS cover every single inch of exposed product then clip them in place. That reminds me that I lost a few after covering some things on my porch during a bad storm last spring and need more. It's a little late in the year to find them so I will check out those dropcloths, thanks! Definitely don't touch anything! ETA: Congrats on your show and niiiicceee booth!
  24. We got it, put it up halfway, and sprayed the heck out of it with water and let it dry. The only damp spots we found were right on the seams but no actual water came through even with higher pressure. So we left it up overnight to seal it the next day. When I took the dog out at 3 a.m., I walked under it and touch the ceiling and water poured down my arm from the condensation! I did notice a note inside not to let anything touch the walls because of this. Did it rain or do you think it was condensation? I wonder if Scotchguard would even help that? My other tents would have minor condensation and dampness but water didn't run off like that! Guess I'd better do those walls anyway, thanks for the tip.
  25. Thanks, sockmonkey, but if it's anything like BBW...YUCK...that stuff gags me! My teen insisted on buying some during our last sniffing expedition and takes great pleasure in applying it right before we are confined in the car for long periods.
