  1. If you look at their shopping cart, they actually charge MORE for preferred shipping than for standard ground. Before they changed the site and stopped offering the multiple case special, the shipping was $20 or so less for (I think) 5 cases in addition to the lower price. Now, no special, no shipping discount, so it's actually a few cents less expensive to order one case at a time. Again... and ! They might if you call the order in and question that, but knowing them, I doubt it.
  2. Bill, that is a great idea! I, for one, will be keeping my fingers crossed that it works out.
  3. Bill, From a business standpoint, I certainly agree with you and do purchase stock containers in bulk. However, any time that I am considering something new, I prefer to order a few to test labels, compatibility, capacity, etc. so I do like the option of purchasing small sample quantities for this purpose. If the particular item is one carried by these suppliers AND you, then great, I would order a few from the other supplier to try out. But, if the item is something unique to you or any supplier with larger quantities as a minimum, then 99% of the time, I would never give it a chance. This is just my take on why small quantities aren't necessarily a bad thing for those in business. I'm sure there are other reasons, but this is most important to me.
  4. I was planning to switch from a one-pour to the 4786 to cut costs but not anymore. I originally bought a sample from BCS and the tests were great...great throw, looked nice, not too many problems with scent mixing. So then, I thought I'd ease into it with tested scents while I test more and purchased a case from WSP. Now, the throw seems weak, they have air bubbles all over the sides, and most scents won't mix in...out of 20 assorted light to heavy fragrances, only about 5 mixed easily. It takes ALOT of vybar to get most mixed and to get rid of bubbles. It is HORRIBLE. BCS raised the price considerably or I would try theirs again in case it is a problem with WSP's.
  5. I love the Tahitian Daiquiri. The cherry is more evident in bath and body, but the coconut seems to come through much more in candles. I personally hate the Tahiti Sweetie, but bought a pound for my daughter who adores it. I've been testing IGI4786 since the J waxes have gotten so expensive and while I'm not thrilled with this wax so far, this scent had an awesome throw in it.
  6. I only purchase in gallon sizes but it went from $5.75/lb to $8.30/lb for that size since the end of February.
  7. I'd be interested to know what supplier this is? Nothing p*sses me off more than a supplier who makes a killing on shipping charges. I thought the worst offender on this was WSP but sounds like this supplier is even worse...to make up extra charges!
  8. It's alllll in my head.... I wish! I like to write so I designed forms for each thing I need to keep track of...one form for scent testing, another form for wick testing, another form to keep track of color combos, recipe sheets for bath stuff, cost sheets to determine pricing, and various to-do sheets either in weekly format, one long list or by product depending on how busy it is. I *really* like to write. LOL I keep each type of form in separate binders and occasionally update the computer versions so that I can sort the lines alphabetically...something I really need to do again right away. I spent an hour copying color notes to my to-do sheet because everything is dreadfully out of order! Notecards by scent are a greeaaat idea!
  9. It freakin' amazes me what some people will put in a candle! A while ago, I was at a show where a girl had some fairly nice gel and bakery/beverage candles. Her gels had everything from plastic toys in bowls to real olives in the martini! Her beverage and ice cream candles contained plastic straws and spoons! None were double glassed, had wick stoppers, or any other safety precaution. Of course, she was selling 8 oz. jelly jar candles for $4 each or 4 for $12 which makes me think she's one of those fly-by-night, hurt-the-handpoured-candle-industry type folks and obviously not someone who's done any research at all and plans to be in this for the long haul.
  10. Well, it turns out that this football league is not controlled by the school though they use the same mascot and everything. I dug through files from a few years ago and located the name of another parent I had done a fundraiser with (different age group) and spoke with her. Apparently, though she would not say anything specific, she was not surprised that they hadn't paid me (no love lost there!). She gave me the email address for the person who heads that age group (seems she is just as bad as the woman I've dealt with all this time) and offered to speak with the 2 men who are over the entire league if they don't pay me right away to see if they can force the issue. This lady was quite upset, too, that her group hadn't been given the opportunity to participate in the fundraiser as they had done it as one large group since the first time until now. I have a feeling I probably got the rumor mill started today, but, oh, well! I'll give them a week to get payment here, then up the pressure however I need to! Thanks so much for the support and encouragement!
  11. Wow, that is crazy shipping. Mine would have been $23. If I hadn't taken the time to check shipping first, I might have gotten a case. LOL I bet for $60, that would have shipped as 3 separate boxes if you were order 600 lids, too.
  12. Waxwench, you're not alone! I, too, can smell and hate the soy smell. I have been mixing with paraffin, though, and can handle it much better, but still having wick issues so I'm playing with the blend ratio. I tried EZsoy and had problem after problem...scent leakage, ugly tops, frosting, inconsistent burning during testing. Every jar burned different even with the same FO and wick. Some folks are sooo lucky!
  13. Thanks, guys. I mailed a copy of the receipt with the terms highlighted and a past due note. I only have her address but also have her work address. If I don't here back from her at the beginning of the week, I plan to call the school and see what I can find out. (They are out for spring break this week.) I also have an email to one of the other mother's at the school that I had done another fundraiser with if she gets back to me. It has been a few years since that one, so I'm hoping the email address is good. I'm all for embarrassment at this point...must be something evil in the air! LOL
  14. What do you do when you have someone who ignores requests for payment?? A little background...I did a fundraiser with a youth football group last fall and they requested a few extra cases to sell. Since I had worked with them several times, I thought nothing of doing this and let them slide on paying for them for a few months. It has now been several months :embarasse and I have called my contact repeatedly with no progress. Every time she says she'll take care of it with the treasurer and that they still have a few left unsold then I never hear back. She is my only contact and I have no idea how to find out who else to speak with. I'm not familiar with the area or schools/groups since it is over an hour away. She did sign a receipt saying they'll pay for and/or return any unsold items. It's only $144 but this burns my a$$ and I need the money. I guess that just goes to show you can't trust people even when you've known them for years. Thanks for any advice!
  15. What type of printer do you use to print on glossy paper? I tried some last year and the black text transferred onto the other sections after folding.
  16. It really sucks that their surplus items are never repeated either so we'll never have another chance. Everywhere else I've checked is going to cost me a minimum of .70 for the jar and lid together. The last case was less than .50 combined. I love the look but don't want to have to increase pricing. :undecided
  17. Yep, me too, and I've been checking every day until today. I use those jars for just one very good seller and am hitting the bottom of the box I bought before prices/shipping really went up. If only I hadn't dozed off on the couch! You snooze, you lose, literally. LOL
  18. Sold out as I was trying to buy them...the one day I didn't check to see if they were added yet.
  19. I love the creme de la creme! Smells like toasted coconut to me. BUT.... My daughter swears it smells like cat breath! Sounds like either a love it or hate it scent, huh? edit to ask - What does Mai Tai smell like? I'm really diggin' the Tahitian Daquiri!
  20. Fed Ex Home delivery is Tuesday-Saturday. I hated that at first but now I see a great advantage. Boxes that would normally arrive on Monday now get here on Saturday. We all know how much we hate waiting over the weekend for new stuff! Keeping my fingers crossed that it arrived today and you're busy filling the order!
  21. I don't know what is up with Fed Ex unless they are trying to become too much like UPS now. Last month, I stayed in all day waiting for a box and checking every few minutes even knowing they deliver at 11 a.m. at the latest. Finally checked the tracking which showed delivery. Welp, I called them and had a fit, especially after the girl talked down to me and told me it *was* delivered. After I told her I was in and out the door all day, she told me she'd check with the driver and again stated that it *was* delivered. I told her in no uncertain terms that I had an order that had to ship and it had better be found the next day. At least I can say they had it here at 9 a.m. the next morning. UPS did the same thing twice a couple of months ago and it took a WEEK to get it 7 miles the first time. The second time, I drove over to pick it up from the snotty woman who had it and told UPS they'd better figure out which highway is which immediately! I noticed they now have a house description written on all my boxes after they tried to convince ME that I live in a blue house (snotty lady) instead of a white house with red trim. On a side note-glad I didn't wait for the supplier to do anything. It happened over a month ago and the supplier just sent an email last Friday asking if it had been found...uuhhh geee...way to take care of a customer...
  22. While I love Lori and think her scents are great, I simply do not find that I can use less of them than other oils to offset the higher cost. Of course, there are exceptions like cucumber melon and olive blossom, but not for the others I used regularly, some of which were at the pricier end. What makes Lori's scents great is the depth of the fragrance that you don't find in most candle fragrances, but I'm sorry to say that doesn't translate to lower usage rates in my case to allow them to fit into my cost guidelines for pricing now. I guess it has been longer than I thought since I ordered Warm Vanilla Sugar but $18.95 to $22.95 is huge to me, especially considering the higher shipping due to distance and no sales to offset it. I definitely took advantage of sales to stock up on the pricier scents and ordered the lower cost ones in between to stay within budget. I, myself, hate the bulk deal in lieu of a good sale. Unless I'm low on several scents or it's busy season, I don't want to be forced to spend $110 or buy extra pounds I may not need to save less than 5%. Sorry to be a grump...between this and Longwyck's, these are trying times.
  23. Blend 1: J300 Blend 2: J50 My last several cases of J300 haven't performed up to par...instead of pulling away, there have been major wet spots and numerous other problems. I've tried 2 different suppliers so they definitely screwed it up before deciding to discontinue it. It is a more opaque wax. You can also tell by the smell of hot J300...definite soy smell so that might be a clue for you, too.
  24. Oh, my gosh, I did NOT know that about Longwyck! With all of my favorite suppliers closing, my scent list is being cut WAY more than I wanted!
  25. I had the same thing happen to me and I HAD all of the info. Paypal would not let me close the account in my husband's name and open one in my name using the same card information. I eventually opened a business bank account with debit card that allowed me to have a card linked but still can't use my credit card. Maybe a blessing in disguise? Hopefully someone can help you!
