  1. I can't answer the question of whether you should go for it, but just wanted to point out it's really $300 a year and not $500 a year since you're already paying $200 no matter what you decide. It seems like you're already getting orders (saw the other thread about the lady from Austria placing an order) even without the shopping cart?
  2. Oh, no problem that you don't have the complete info yet. If you could post here when you find out more, that'd be great. Thanks!
  3. It's trackable? Whenever I've mailed something overseas they give me a choice of first-class mail international or priority mail international, neither of which is trackable. Did you use one of these two services? And was the tracking a separate service you had to purchase? Just hoping you can enlighten me as it'd be great if I could have a way to track packages sent overseas (I've had a few not arrive before, you see).
  4. I've had several from reverends recently. Must be their new ploy. They think the rev in front of their name will make them more trustworthy.
  5. At 1.50 each (for their most basic one, don't know how durable it is) it is a good price. I just bought one yesterday at the drugstore for 5.99. (It's the same brand as what DH was using before, and the previous one lasted 3-4 yrs.) Anyway I tried placing 10 of them (they have a 15.00 min. order) in their shopping cart to see how much the total after shipping would be, and it worked out to be 2.78 each.
  6. In addition to enjoying volume shipping rates, I also wonder if these companies have built in some padding to their prices to help offset a bit of the shipping. Being big companies, their ingredient costs would be lower than ours as they are able to buy in bigger bulk.
  7. It's puzzling your lard bars are melting faster. My experience has been the opposite i.e. they make for a hard and long-lasting bar. One thing about lard though, is that it produces less lather. At least, if you're using 100% lard. I wonder if you're scrubbing harder at the bar to compensate for the lower lathering, and inadvertently using more soap than usual?
  8. Debk, you can generate a list of zones (originating from your zip code) by inputting your zip code. Then also print out the rate chart based on weight and zone. With these two sheets, you can look up rates even when their site is hung up.
  9. No, I wouldn't be mad. Maybe a little relieved at having been given a "grace period" before I have to pay for it. In any case, I would treat it as money already spent (i.e. deducting it from the check register) as I don't expect to get it for free just because they are slow to charge my debit card, nor do I want to accidentally spend the money again. I don't know what the rule is for a time frame, but as long as you deduct it from your check register right when you made the purchase, it shouldn't cause you any problems in the future.
  10. Didn't they notice after the first bite it didn't taste good? :undecided
  11. Price hikes are the norm these days, but it's nice when a supplier does give us some warning so that we have a chance to buy before the increase. Especially for those of us who might have planned to replenish our supplies next month and could have done so a week early if they knew.
  12. You could email the vendor, letting them know which items you want to get and how many, and ask for a shipping estimate.
  13. I saw a similar scenario addressed in Publication 535 from the IRS. You could order a copy (they're sent free) to have a look.
  14. The main benefit for me was that I was able to make DH a black soap to match his black towel.
  15. Here you go: http://www.gardenofwisdom.com/home.html
  16. I used 1 tablespoon (added at trace) for a 2 lb batch as well. It turned out black:
  17. I've always interpreted body safe to be soap safe. Safe, as in, skin safe. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll perform well in soap, of course. The Libby's filling is just plain pumpkin puree, at least the last time I bought it. I remember because when I tried to make a pie with it, I was disappointed it wasn't already "flavored" and had to look around for my own spices such as nutmeg to flavor it with.
  18. I couldn't really understand what she was saying either. For this reason, if I had gotten this email, I wouldn't have responded. Especially since these are obviously not my candles (or yours either).
  19. Just in case you don't see it with the other pie fillings, it could also be in the regular baking section by the chocolate chips and evaporated milk (that's where the pumpkin puree is shelved at the grocery store here).
  20. Yes, put it in the freezer for a while. I have the milky way tray molds as well. Greasing them doesn't seem to help much. The freezer seems to be the best way for those molds.
  21. Lisa, I thought the soy/paraffin mixes were numbered 6***.
  22. Is it a container wax ? I wonder if she could have meant 4642?
  23. Sandy, if your scale doesn't go that low, your smallest teaspoon isn't going to be able to measure 0.02 oz either. This is just a sample jar you got, right? My recommendation is to use it unscented, then only try adding scent when you have a larger quantity for your scale to accurately measure.
  24. If you don't know what type of scent they like, using something clean & fresh would be a safe way to go. Just because they are from a certain culture doesn't mean they'll necessarily favor scents from that region.
  25. I think I'd prefer the handbag (the one in multi) if somebody would like to buy me a present.
