  1. What a strange situation. Normally before sending a check the person would have asked what to make it out to (in case the account is in your personal name) and where to send it. After all, the contact info on your site could be your physical address which is different from your mailing address.
  2. I've used Armour Lard from Walmart before. This brand works fine. You just have to melt it very gently and wait patiently. I put it on the stove on the lowest setting until just melted.
  3. For salt bars, I use salt at anywhere from 50% to 100% of the oil's weight. But my water discount stays the same and is also the same as my regular non-salt bars. That's because my water amount is based on the lye amount.
  4. You can use whatever water discount you usually use. You shouldn't double the EO. The EO should be based on the oil weight, like what you would normally do. Curing time should be the same as other soaps, or even longer. The longer, the better for lather. For your oil amount, try doing 60% of your normal recipe instead of half. The salt doesn't quite double the volume of the batch.
  5. Do you have the correct bookmark? It used to be soapcalc.com and it's now soapcalc.net. I had to change my bookmark.
  6. GlamaRay, I like www.bayousome.com for jars. Not sure about bases as I don't use those.
  7. Paypal has 3 types of accounts: Personal, Premier, and Business. I got the business one. Then, for accepting credit cards, I got their website payments standard. That works for me without having to have a merchant account.
  8. I looked at them and saw the drop down menu gives you a choice of multiples of 1, 48, and so on. So if you only wanted 10 of something you could select the 1 on the drop down menu and then put 10 in the quantity box.
  9. I get an email from them when there is some sort of special going on. I know one came in February because that is when I placed an order using the coupon code. I can't remember if there has been another one since then, as I might have deleted it when it came and I didn't need anything. But I don't think there has been one recently, so we could be due for another special soon. If I were you, I would wait and see, unless you need the supplies right now.
  10. You're right! It turned out to be not a good idea when I tried it. The soap had a 'spongy' feel to it and it did not harden up the way it should. Luckily I didn't end up with DOS so at least it was still useable.
  11. My personal favorite is Peak's clean cotton. But if you want STRONG then try their downy fresh.
  12. It sounds good to me. I save responses like these as templates so I can just copy and paste whenever I get another such question.
  13. I made the same mistake before and it turned out okay. Hope yours will too.
  14. Melt it down in a stainless steel pot and add the missing oil. It will work out fine to do it that way.
  15. I turn my oven on to the lowest setting which is 150. Once the light goes off (meaning it's reached 150), I turn off the oven.
  16. I use the same one as islandgirl. Never had a problem with losing wax down the side.
  17. They look good Melanie. I'm glad the beer soap worked out fine.
  18. Melanie, I always use ale. Most likely it will gel, since the sugars in the beer will help to heat it up. I doubt it matters which type of beer is used, except for how brown the soap turns out.
  19. The foaming up is normal, even when the beer is flat. It would be much worse if the beer wasn't flat. Just make sure you use a tall pitcher next time so it doesn't overflow. As for the layer of stuff, I've never had that before. Does it dissolve back in when you stir it? I wonder if it's because you let it cool down. I don't usually wait until it gets all the way down to room temp so maybe that's how I avoided the layer. My guess is it's still good to use.
  20. This was from a few years ago: 1-888-221-1161 I had emailed them with a question and they wrote back with that number to call.
  21. Looks great! I like how you used the tree as the background.
  22. Is the 20% in addition to the store rental fee? If not then I would treat it like the store rental fee.
  23. Yep, and Red Devil lye before that. I guess this Rooto problem is just plain bad luck.
  24. I use the one from Peak. I use it for both B&B and candles.
